tweet it

Like Readit, the app Tweet It! gets my Editor’s Choice for best third-party Twitter client. It’s constantly being updated and improved with some seriously cool features. Recently, the developer Timur Khamidov has been cranking away at updates, and the latest version is truly a fascinating one.

Many in our audience are using the Windows Phone 8 Update 3 Developer Preview. That OS update allows custom notifications and more specifically, for developers to add the ability for their own sounds to their creations. Quite a few of you have requested developers do this and we’re happy to report that Tweet It! now has this as an option.

The latest update for Tweet It!, bringing the popular Windows Phone Twitter client up to version 7.3, introduces new personalisation options for how elements are displayed and more. If you're not a fan of the whole 'everything is square' UI design in most of your installed apps, Tweet It! enables you to switch between squares and round designs.

Time was that Microsoft notified us of every Red Stripe Deal (then called the Xbox Live Deal of the Week) in advance. Sadly they stopped doing so many moons ago, but that hasn’t stopped our inquisitive nature. Today I was sniffing around all Wolverine-like and caught wind of tomorrow’s deals through unofficial channels – a day ahead of schedule.

The Xbox Red Stripe Deal is Rocket Riot from Codeglue, on sale for $1.99. Brain Seal’s indie RPG Dark Quest and the popular Tweet It! App from My Amazing Big Fork are both 99 cents. Head past the break for screenshots and Store links!

My Editor's Choice for third-party Twitter apps gets another fantastic update

We all have our favorite Twitter apps on Windows Phone. Mine is Tweet It!

Sure, the official Twitter app is a looker but if you need something with a little more power, you turn to third-party apps to deliver. Tweet It! is that app for me because not only does it look great, but it has some unique and clever features that no other Twitter app can boast. In fact, I’m always calling it ‘clever’ and version 7.0.2.0 is no different.

So what’s so cool about Tweet It! that has me using all of these descriptors? Head past the break to see what’s new.

When it comes to Twitter clients on Windows Phone, we’ve noticed everyone has their favorite and its usually for specific reasons. Tweet It! by developer Timur Khamidov has always impressed us for standing out from the pack.  The app comes with numerous unique options like a using the camera for a background, so you can see where you walking when typing, orientation lock, tweet your currently playing music and more.

Version 6.2 just went live in the Store and it’s quite a colossal update. The update and changes are so big, we would have thought it was a worthy of a 7.0 designation.  Let’s see what’s new.

Like shoes, Twitter clients are a personal preference where one size doesn’t fit all. We all have our favorites and Tweet It! happens to be one of mine. It’s fast, smooth, packed with features and just has a lot of personality.

Version 5.6.5.0 just landed in the Store and it brings some significant and important changes to charming Twitter client, including continued support for Windows Phone 7.x and 8 users.

For those looking for a great Twitter client with a little personality, you may want to give Tweet It! a go on your Windows Phone. We’ve talked about the app in the past and gave it high remarks.

Since then, the app has gone through numerous transformations and it is up to version 5.1 (with the 5.x marker designating Windows Phone 8 status). That’s right, you can now get Notifications (Tile and/or Toast), Lockscreen notifications, doublewide Tile and fast resume all into a nifty little app.

What’s more, Tweet It! is on sale for $0.99 (usual price is $2.99) for a limited time and we think you may want to at least trial the app, to see if it’s to your liking.

We have a lot of Twitter apps for Windows Phones and everyone has their preference. And while we're hard pressed to name one as the end-all, be-all we're going to give a strong endorsement here for Tweet it! from the developers My Amazing Big Fork. Reasons?

  1. It has a lot of character--great animation effects, layout and a bold, unique design
  2. Lots of options and features not found on other Twitter apps

We've been using Tweet it! from its 1.0 days where it was a simple app that allowed you to just rapidly Tweet a message with a few clicks. But once it hit 2.x it received a major overhaul and a ton of features. Now sitting at v2.6, the app is really a fantastic option for those looking for something different, something that will make you smile when you use it. Some of the features of Tweet it! include:

  • Pinnable sub-sections: Drafts (offline support), Tweet direct, Timeline, Now playing (music) and photos (awesome Polaroid effect)
  • Modes - Night Mode (dimmed), Street mode (uses camera for background), Fast Tweet (pops up keyboard), Bed mode (orientation lock), Filters, etc.
  • Ringtones - yes, it even features two really good ringtones

There's even more, so take a look at the above video to get an idea. We're pretty smitten with the app and the dev seems keen on delivering regular updates (we really like the holiday/Christmas theme with the bird). We find it fast, smooth and like we said, it kind of makes us smile when we use it. The app has a free trial and can be had for a very reasonable $0.99. Highly recommend.

Pick it up here in the Marketplace and let us know in comments what you think.
