As expected, Verizon Wireless has just pulled the wraps off the Nokia Lumia 2520 tablet, the first Nokia tablet running Windows RT 8.1. The tablet will run at the retail price of $499 but for a “limited time”, users can sign a two-year contract and receive $100 off. We reported on that sale price two weeks ago and sure enough, Verizon is coming through with the deal.

The device will drop on Thursday, November 21—one day before AT&T.

Update 1PM ET: As expected, Microsoft has pulled the pre-order page

Microsoft has been busy lately with listing preorders on their Store and then pulling them once we report on it. That tells us that these pages are made in advance but are not meant to go public quite yet. Still, we have reports that Microsoft are honoring preorders that are placed before the pages are pulled.

This morning we have the Verizon Lumia 2520 Windows RT tablet available—in both red or black—for $499 with no contract. That price falls in line with what we are expecting, although we did reveal that Verizon will be offering the Nokia tablet for $399 on a two-year contract.

Although Nokia had a lot to announce a few weeks ago in Abu Dhabi, one of those devices not mentioned was the Nokia Lumia 929, destined for Verizon. That device is said to be in carrier testing right now and it could be released between Thanksgiving and the beginning of next year.

The Nokia Lumia 929 is a custom phone built for Verizon, featuring a 5-inch 1080P AMOLED display. It’s in many ways just a bigger, more powerful Lumia 928, as it features a Quad-Core Snapdragon 800 CPU and updated internals.

Now, high quality photos of this device have been revealed to Windows Phone Central and we have the inside scoop of Verizon’s flagship Lumia.

We recently looked at a leak of the Verizon Lumia 929 from Nokia, which didn't make the event in Abu Dhabi. A leaker on our forum uploaded a video and some photos for everyone to check out the upcoming Windows Phone that's expected to launch sometime before Q1 2014. Now that same leaker has published a sample shot captured by the Lumia 929.

Nokia World has come and gone but that doesn’t mean the Finnish company doesn’t have more devices up their sleeves. One of those is the Lumia 929, a custom phone for Verizon that is due to land any time between now and Q1. Not much is known about the Lumia 929 except that it is probably a 5-inch 1080P device running a Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor and a 20 MP rear PureView camera.

Now, a leaker in the Windows Phone Central forums who goes by the name of ‘Falorin’ has posted a new photo and even a hands on vide with the mystery device.

This morning we’ve received some confirmation from a trusted source about the Verizon Nokia Lumia 2520, the 10.1-inch Windows RT 8.1 tablet with the codename ‘Sirius’. The tablet will be Nokia’s first Windows RT 8.1 tablet, though certainly not the last as AT&T and others are expected to get the device too.

Pricing is set for $499, which matches Paul Thurrott’s earlier reporting, and it should go on sale to Verizon customers on November 17th (possibly the 18th). Colors options available to customers include “black and red” though it’s not clear if those are separate options or just one. It will feature 32 GB of internal storage with expandable memory.

Updated 5 PM ET: While the core of this render is accurate, the screen itself was created by one Florin N. who tipped us that this is not a new "leak". Still, the 1320 vs 929 info is accurate.

A new render of the Nokia Lumia 929 has been leaked on the Chinese micro-blogging website, Weibo. The render is the same as we've seen previously from other accounts, but details have also emerged that we could well be looking at the Lumia 1320 for regions outside the US. Nokia is set to unveil numerous handsets and other hardware at its Nokia World event in Abu Dhabi later this month.

Verizon is expected to launch the new Nokia Lumia 929 in early November, sources familiar with the matter have revealed to Windows Phone Central. An inventory date of November 6th is listed for the phablet device, which may range in the 5-inch range as opposed to AT&T’s expected 6-inch device codenamed “Beastie” (also known as the Lumia 1520).

The off-contract price is listed at $500, which is far below the earlier-reported $699 off-contract price for AT&T’s Lumia 1520. While the specifications of Verizon’s Lumia 929 have yet to be detailed, the pricing and FCC documentation seem to suggest the device won’t be the same as found on AT&T. While both devices will have a 20 MP PureView camera (with oversampling and dual shot akin to the Lumia 1020) and 1080P displays, AT&T seems to be going for a truly massive Lumia while Verizon appears to be opting for a more conservative device.

On a slow Sunday we have some slow news coming out, including this rear render of the Nokia Lumia 929 destined for Verizon. Yesterday we had the front side leak and now you can see it juxtaposed against its rear.

Anything else new to report? Not really, just that the 1080P Windows Phone 8 device will arrive in Red too in addition to White and Black, which should be a nice change.  Other than that, we still have the 20 MP PureView camera on the back and presumably the size is at least 5-inches for the display, though other specific details remain elusive.

Last fall, Windows Phone joined the world of wireless charging with the introducing of the Nokia Lumia 920 and the HTC 8X on Verizon. The feature was met with mixed reviews, but anyone who has used it will testify to its usefulness. It’s a shame devices like the Lumia 925 and 1020 need covers to add the feature. All Windows Phone devices that can charge wirelessly do so by using the Qi wireless standard.

Qi is currently the leading standard for wireless charging, but others are challenging it. So what happens now that Qualcomm and Verizon have joined the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC), the management board for the Qi standard?

The leaks, they keep coming. It seems that ever since Microsoft announced their plans to buy Nokia’s devices and services division the world has only sped up. Since then, we’ve seen steady information flowing out for Windows Phone 8.1, the Xbox One, and the Nokia Lumia 1520.  All products coming out in the relative near future that we can’t wait to play with.

So why would today be any different? Yesterday we learned that the Lumia 1520 is most likely coming to AT&T in early November. A lot of non-AT&T customers are feeling left out with the high-end Lumia love. Don’t be too jealous if you’re on Verizon, you might be getting your own special variant of the Lumia 1520.

By all accounts, the Nokia Lumia 928 on Verizon, an exclusive variant of the 92x series, is doing quite well. Verizon has steadily picked up Windows Phone market share in the US, mostly at the expense of AT&T and it helped bring a flagship Nokia device to one of the most important carriers in the States.

Currently, the Lumia 928 is only offered in glossy White or Black and while the device has a solid specification list, it could stand to be spiced up a bit in the looks department. That’s why the 1328 OS ROM spotted on NaviFirm Plus with the label RM-860 VAR VRZ RED (059R227) has piqued our interest. The other two versions, both white and black, are already listed but that Red variant and product code is something new.

Last night we teased you with Verizon’s official changelog (PDF) for the HTC 8X software update, also known as GDR2 (for the OS) and accompanying new firmware.

At the time, we suggested that the update was imminent and sure enough, starting at 1PM ET it has gone live nationwide. That means if you head to your Settings and go under Phone Update, by utilizing the Check for update feature you can start the process (you’ll need to be on Wi-Fi).

Confession: we’re not huge users of the Windows Phone FM Radio, a feature that was omitted when Windows Phone 8 launched last year due to the drivers needing to be re-written. Because of that, we didn’t miss it much, though like you, we always appreciate having things on our phones, even if we don’t use them.

But some of you 'FM radio fans' are certainly quite die hard about it and so when the Verizon Nokia Lumia 928 received the Amber + GDR2 update last week, the missing radio feature (which the update was supposed to bring), raised some eyebrows (and ire).

Update 1PM ET: Seems like Nokia is on the ball as Verizon has thrown the switch for the Lumia 822. Go check for your update now: Settings > Phone Update > Check for update. We can also confirm FM Radio and Group text is included.

If you’re on Verizon and waiting for the Amber firmware and GDR2 OS updates for your Nokia Lumia 822, fear not as it should be headed to your device real soon.

Yesterday, Nokia updated their site from "waiting for approval" to "coming soon" and a tipster named WP8addict in our forums noted that indeed, it has been cleared by Verizon yesterday.

For well over a year now there have been murmurings and rumors that Nokia is working on a Windows 8 tablet with little to show for it. We have seen leaked images in the past and most recently, a late September date has been suggested as the announcement timeframe (Nokia is evidently planning an event in New York City).

Now, two images have come forth showing what is reportedly a Verizon-branded Nokia tablet with Windows 8.1 RT on board. The device appears to be labelled with “RT” suggesting that this is not a full Windows 8 Pro tablet, though there are too many caveats here to reach any firm conclusions. For instance, could Nokia have both RT and Pro devices both being tested as options for carriers and retail channels?
