If you're looking to get more out of your Windows Phone 8 lockscreen, take a look at AwesomeLock. It's a simple, straight forward lockscreen app that delivers news, weather and upcoming appointments to your lockscreen.

AwesomeLock also delivers Bing daily pictures or you can tap into your Pictures Hub and use one of your own images for the lockscreen wallpaper.  The app makes a nice first impression and likely is only held back by the lack of a trial version.

Bright Weather is a visually appealing Windows Phone 8 weather app that delivers everything from the current weather conditions to a five day forecast to moon phases to your Windows Phone.

Bright Weather was updated the other day to bring a handful of new features to the party that includes lockscreen support and a free trial mode.  We were rather impressed with the Windows Phone 8 weather app and the updated version simply adds to Bright Weather's appeal.

Weather Radar Tile is an interesting Windows Phone 8 weather app that not only allows you to access weather forecasts and radar, but also pin a radar tile to your Windows Phone Start Screen.  The radar Live Tiles are not animated but do update periodically to give you a snap shot of what's headed your way. Weather forecasts and radar are provided through the National Weather Service and locations are U.S. only.

Weather Radar Tile isn't a bad Windows Phone 8 app but navigation isn't the smoothest. The app is worth a try but may not appeal to everyone.

Amazing Weather HD is one of our favorite weather apps for Windows Phone. The app is available for both Windows Phone 7.x and 8 devices and was updated to version 4.2.2.2 earlier today to add a few new features and fix a few bugs.

The most notable fix corrects the bug that caused lockscreen updates to not match the weather information. You also have Simplified Chines and Hungarian languages added and a optional usage data setting.

We’ve covered plenty of weather apps over the years here. Everyone has their favorite and Windows Phone has a handful of great apps to choose from to suit your needs and tastes. We first looked at Weather Smiles a little over a year ago when it launched. A few months later it was updated with all the Windows Phone 8 features you’d want. It’s picked up a few updates over the past few months. The most recent a few days ago. Let’s check it out.

On Windows Phone, we have plenty of photo tagging apps like Ciel or InstaWeather Pro to document your travels or life in general. These apps vary in functionality but they often center around the idea of placing an overlay with data, including weather or your location, over a square photo. You can then post them to Facebook, Instagram, etc. We recently did that when we were down in Florida earlier this week.

Developer Jason Ong has a new app out called Phototag. We’ve covered his work before in the highly rated Audiocloud app and Phototag is just as stunning and useful. For one, the UI is striking—it’s minimal but bold and easy to navigate. Second, Phototag allows you to also stamp baby or food info in addition to the typical weather and location information. More categories are forthcoming too.

What else is there? Read on to find out in our mini-review.

Umbrella 8 is a unique and eye-catching Windows Phone 8 weather app that has a lot going for it. The app throws a lot of weather information your way and includes Flickr integration to spice up the background images.

However, while the design is appealing you have a reoccurring error and the navigation isn't as smooth as it could be. Still Umbrella 8 is an attractive weather app worth trying and has a ton of potential.

Weather Planet is a fairly recent addition to the weather app line-up over in the Windows Phone Store. Available for both Windows Phone 8 and 7.x devices, Weather Planet has some interesting features and a visually appealing main page.

While Weather Planet makes a snazzy first impression some may find the user interface a little cumbersome. The weather app has potential but I couldn't help but think things could be a little more fluid.

Daily Dashboard is a Windows Phone 8 app that is part calendar and part daily assistant. It offers easy access to your calendar appointments, birthdays, weather forecasts, Windows Phone details (battery level, available memory, etc.) and any alarms you have set. Designed for efficiency to give you a snapshot of what's going on in your life, the app has multiple views with a Home Page that sums up what's going on.

Daily Dashboard may be too busy for some but if you're looking for a one stop solution to keep tabs on your daily life, it is worth a gander.

If you're looking for a way to snaz up your Windows Phone lock screen, take a look at the Windows Phone 8 app Lock Manager. It is a feature rich option to add everything from the weather to appointments to a slide show of your images to your lock screen.

Lock Manager includes four weather themes, Bing daily image support, and live tile support that reflects the information posted to your lock screen. The app definitely has the ability to throw a lot of information up on your Windows Phone lock screen.

Ciel is a fantastic Windows Phone 8 app that lets you tag your images with location and weather information then share them on Facebook, Tumblr, Instagram (via Instagraph) and check in with Foursquare.  Templates for weather and location information can be applied to new images or existing photos stored in your Pictures Hub.

Ciel was recently updated to version 3.0.3.570 to address some buggyness the last update created, fixes an Instagram sharing issue, and adds a few improvements to the overall performance, lens integration, and the saving/sharing algorithm.

Back when the Nokia Lumia 925 was announced, we brought you an early look at Car App, a forthcoming app from Nokia that was enabled via NFC and used in conjunction with their wireless CR-200 car mount. The app provided the time, weather, battery life, quick call access and easy taps to HERE Drive + and Nokia Music. It was not only well done, but seemingly very useful for when you are otherwise occupied with driving.

The problem is, we never really saw that app materialize in the Nokia Collection. Well, as it turns out, it comes with the Nokia Accessories app (found under Settings) and is in fact, hidden. The app can evidently only be activated by scanning an NFC tag that is found on Nokia’s CR-200 car mount and is similar to the Desktop App that is only accessible by Nokia’s Qi chargers. That $100 car mount though is hard to find and let’s be honest, quite pricey.

Wead is a Windows Phone 8 app that lets you insert local weather information on to your photos. The app acts more like a plug-in, accessible through the edit menu when you view individual photos in the Pictures Hub.

Weave was updated today to version 2.0 and brings a new user interface and a sharing option to the table. The new user interface calls for you to enter your location then retrieve the current weather conditions. From there you choose your temperature units, font style and color then set your text position with the slider controls.

Wead is a Windows Phone 8 app that acts more like a plug-in for your Pictures Hub than a stand alone photography application. In a nutshell, it allows you to label your images with the current weather.

If you launch Wead, all you'll be able to do is read the instructions and rate the app over in the Windows Phone Store. To use Wead, you'll need to pull up the image you want labeled, choose the edit option from the three-dot menu and then choose Wead from the list of editing apps.

Amazing Weather HD is simply an amazing Windows Phone weather app. Along with a nice level of weather coverage (forecasts, radar, satellite, etc.), the app also has support that pulls stunning HD weather images to your Windows Phone lockscreen.

Amazing Weather HD has been updated to version 4.2. We suspect a little fine tuning was done under the hood (the app seems to have a bit more zip to it), the most notable change with the update is with the lockscreen support.

Not only are there new HD images to rotate to your lockscreen but now you can use your own images as lockscreen wallpapers with the app's weather overlays.

Ciel is a Windows Phone 8 photography app that lets you place a template over your pictures that details your location and current weather. It's a nifty way to show off how nice (or miserable) the weather is where ever you may be.  Additionally, Ciel has direct sharing support for Facebook, Foursquare and Tumblr to let you share the good (or bad) weather with your friends without having to leave the app.

An update was pushed out this morning for Ciel, lifting it to version 2.7. The most notable change with the update is the addition of Lens integration.
