If you’re a fan of managing your health or managing your money, then there is a good bet that you might be using the Fitbit and/or Mint.com apps on your Windows 8 PC. Some troubles over the last few days have prevented some users from logging in to either service from the Windows Store application, and a new update is here to fix issues for both.

The first minor update heading to Windows 8.1, known as Update 1, is suspected to be bringing more unity between the legacy desktop and newer Windows 8 application environment. In recently leaked screenshots by hacker WZor, we were able to take a brief look at the ability to pin Windows Store applications to your taskbar. The update previously rumored to be coming out this March, has received more confirmation – including an exact date.

The word game of Hangman is one that had arisen during Victorian Times and is still played to this very day. A simple, yet addicting, game that started with paper and pencil has made it to Windows 8 in a well-designed application by Random Salad Games – Hangman Pro. Despite the add-on of the word “Pro” to the end of the game’s title, there is in fact no light version or paid version of the game; the game is free to all who wish to play, so check it out after the break.

Sony's line of VAIO Flip PCs are a very interesting and beautiful concept for the future of Windows 8 computers. They appear to be Ultrabooks, but have a latch that releases the screen and allows the display to flip 180 degrees backward on a fulcrum. This year at CES 2014, Sony has just introduced a new addition to the lineup – the VAIO Fit 11A Flip PC.

Panasonic may not be the top household name when it comes to Windows PCs, but they have certainly carved their niche into the market with their line of Toughbook and Toughpad products. Touted as the world's most rugged PCs, the Tough series gives military and law enforcement personal a laptop they can truly work with. 

This year at CES 2014, Panasonic has announced a new Windows 8 tablet, dubbed the Toughpad FZ-M1, that is being described as "the world's thinnest and lightest fully-rugged 7 inch Windows tablet".

Vizio is better known for their HD televisions and sound bars than their selection of Windows PCs, but it is seen as no surprise considering they only jumped into the game two years ago. Their last selection of machines where simple and beautiful, while at the same time lacking the refinement and careful engineering that would really make them solid machines.

This year at CES, the company is having another go and have introduced their new Thin + Light machines.

For those of you who are fans of Mozilla’s Firefox web browser, there continues to be a long wait as we anticipate a Windows 8 version of the application. The company had planned to launch their Windows 8 browser almost two years ago in quarter one of 2012 – that never happened. According to a new revised schedule on the Mozilla’s development Wiki, the release is now slated for March 18 of this year.

Facebook may have an official app for Windows 8.1 but they haven't yet released an app to manage your Facebook Pages. Luckily, Imagination Overflow has FB Pages Manager. Does that name ring a bell? That's because they make the popular Windows Phone app. Now the company has released a Windows 8 app by the same name and it is quite useful for managing content on the fly with your Windows 8 tablet.

The famous German board game, The Settlers of Catan, has landed on Windows 8 for your strategy solving pleasure.  The game itself revolves around settlers building colony communities on the mythical island of Catan. The goal of the game itself is to reach ten victory points – scored by players for each settlement they own along with other various achievements.

The Windows 8 version of the game, which became available a few days ago, is stated to deliver the “legendary” game experience along with new “detailed graphics [to] take you to an utterly realistic Catan”. The game even allows users to choose between a 3D gaming experience and a classic 2D board game layout.

Accessories are available with the unit, including an optional keyboard docking station and keyboard cover. The Q584 is aimed at the business crowd with an integrated TPM chip, fingerprint scanner, and pen input compatibility.
