Microsoft will have Windows 8.1 out the door shortly, but what will follow the update? Mary Jo Foley over at ZDNet has heard from sources that the Windows team will release a small Spring 2014 update alongside the release of Windows Phone 8.1 "Blue". That pushes back the Windows Phone 8.1 expectations back by a few months, as it was previously hinted to be early 2014 instead of the Spring.

Not only that, but sources suggest we could well be looking at the Windows Phone OS being used for hardware with larger displays, superseding Windows RT.

Fox News, the top-rated cable news channel here in the US, has recently embraced the future through their re-worked News Deck headed by Shepard Smith. The studio re-launch took a month to complete and with it, brought some massive new changes. Literally.

Found throughout the studio are BATS (big area touchscreens), which in reality are 55-inch computers running Windows 8.  It’s so audacious that when Sam shared a picture of it this morning, I seriously thought it was a Photoshop job. But nope, they are real and they are being used by staff to monitor news, Twitter and various feeds for the latest information.

Nokia has a strong following who still look forward to a Windows tablet. Speculation and rumours have been in the spotlight since the company started making Windows Phones and Microsoft released Windows 8 to the world. Currently being purchased by Microsoft, should the deal go through, we'll see future handsets be released by Redmond, but that doesn't stop Nokia from innovating and launching new hardware in the mean time.

Feast your eyes on the above image pulled from the documentation, courtesy of Engadget. When Microsoft and its partners don’t share actual numbers with us we have to go elsewhere to get our data fix. AdDuplex is one of those places where we can get an overall look at the current Windows Phone landscape in terms of which devices are popular (hint: it’s the Lumia 520). What is AdDuplex? It’s a cross-promotion network where developers can advertise their apps within each other’s apps. It also happens to have a Windows 8 network and what’s what we’re going to look at today. Which device is king of the hill when it comes to Windows 8?

Windmill is a puzzle game for your Windows 8 computer that doesn't have many bells and whistles but doesn't lack challenge.

The gaming screen is presented in straight forward fashion with a windmill styled grid of flour sacks hanging on a hook. There are 32 sacks with one empty hook. You're goal, jump the sacks to remove them and end up with one remaining sack hung on the center hook.

The game reminds me of those peg styled games that you find at Cracker Barrel restaurants. Just a little more difficult to solve.
