Xbox is bringing games, panels and more to Comic-Con

Are you lucky enough to be at Comic-Con this year in San Diego? Then you're about to get even more stoked now that Xbox will be there. Microsoft is sending team Xbox down to San Diego to set up an Xbox lounge and booth. Games will be playable, you'll get your first look at the television series Halo: Nightfall and celebrities will be around all weekend.

The massive Microsoft layoffs announced yesterday are cutting deep across the company, with the latest word of hits coming at Xbox EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Asia). While 2/3 of the cuts are hitting job redundancies with Microsoft Mobile division (formerly Nokia), substantial layoffs are expected across the organization. According to MCV, Xbox EMEA could see up to 75% of its staff cut, and the staff will have to duke it out for the remaining 25%.

It was November 2012 when we wrote about twenty Xbox games that worked on Windows Phone 7.x, but no longer worked with Windows Phone 8. The list included some favorites like: The Harvest, Hasta La Muerte, Fable Coin Gold and many others. Over time a few of those returned to be playable on Windows Phone 8, but a handful of them were left out. Looks like a few might have returned to Windows Phone and Windows Phone 8.1 customers.

Microsoft has displayed strong support for its video game console with numerous updates since its release last year. The company is also looking to future updates and has released a new app for the Xbox One. This app enables consumers to join a preview program, enrolling their console for updates before sending them out across the platform. It's a positive move by Microsoft, especially with the sheer number of updates being pushed out.

Microsoft's ExpertZone is a program within the company to help out knowledgeable retail sales staff. Those are the guys and gals who work at electronic retailers around the globe. ExpertZone is a place where those with a passion for Microsoft products can talk, learn and get rewarded.

Last week at E3 2014, over 300 lucky ExpertZone members had a chance to check out the Xbox booth after show floor hours. Guests were treated to food, drinks, and, of course, a whole lot of games. Here's a look at that event and what Microsoft does to give retail pros an edge in the workplace.

Ubisoft is launching a new fitness game called Shape Up exclusively on Xbox One that will hopefully get you into better shape. The game uses Kinect's camera tech to project the user into the game, sort of like bringing a user into a virtual world. This way, Kinect isn't staring and leering at you in the hopes of making you feel guilty about being a couch potato.

Xbox One arriving in Russia September 5

Microsoft announced that its Xbox One gaming console will be arriving in Russia on September 5th. The gaming console will come with a 500 GB hard drive, a Blu-Ray drive, and wireless WiFi adapter. There will also be a wireless game controller as well as a 14-day subscription to Xbox Live Gold. Microsoft says that there will also be a version with a Kinect sensor as well.
