With the release of the latest installment of the Call of Duty series over on the Xbox console, we are also seeing a Call of Duty companion Windows Phone app lurking in the shadows.

The official Call of Duty app hopes to provide a new mobile experience designed to work hand in hand with Call of Duty Ghosts. The app does require Call of Duty registration (can be done through the app) and you have to play your first Call of Duty Ghosts multiplayer match before you can start using the app.

For those with Xbox Live Gold Memberships, every month Microsoft tags a few games and offers them as free downloads. The Games with Gold program offers two free games to Xbox Live Gold Members each month.

One of the two titles becomes available on the first of the month and the second title lands on the 16th. For November, your Games with Gold titles are A World of Keflings (available on the 1st) and Iron Brigade (available on the 16th).

Not sure as to the "why" or "when" but the Windows Phone Xbox gaming title Cut the Rope: Experiments is now free for the taking.

Experiment is a sequel to the Xbox game Cut the Rope where you must keep the little green monster Om Nom fed with candy. The puzzle game has over 150 levels of play that has you navigating your candy drops through various lab experiments.

The Cut the Rope series is an entertaining, mildly addictive game for your Windows Phone that is well suited for short gaming periods as well as longer marathon sessions.

Microsoft is launching new gift cards that will be used for purchases on Xbox, Windows and Windows Phone stores. Consumers will be able to purchase games, music, movies, shows, apps and more. We recently looked at a leak that detailed a launch for the gift cards to match Windows 8.1 (October 22nd), but you can already pick them up at a Germany retailer and Amazon UK.

Previously we reported that Microsoft will be giving a special white edition of the Xbox One console to team members of the Xbox division. If you are consumed by the fire of jealousy, consider this to be some good news: supposedly an insider source in China revealed that the white next-gen Xbox One will be available to the consumer market some time after the console's initial launch in late November.

According to Bloomberg, Microsoft has plans to grow its upcoming television programming selection beyond the originally planned Halo series on the Xbox One. Phil Spencer, corporate vice president at Microsoft Studios, declined detailed comments to Bloomberg yesterday at the Tokyo Game Show, but showed Microsoft has full intentions to invade your living room.

The critically acclaimed interactive action-adventure video game, Heavy Rain, landed on Sony’s PlayStation 3 in February 2010 and was an instant hit with fans around the world. Heavy Rain landed impressive scores including a 9/10 from IGN and a 9.5/10 from Game Informer. Halo: Spartan Assault has been available on Windows Phone 8 for some time now, but there isn't a trial to take advantage of for a free go to see if the game is right for you. Now a lite version has been published that sports the first level to give you an insight into the gameplay and whether you feel it's worth the price tag. Perfect if you've never jumped into the Halo universe before or are hesitant at playing a Spartan on the small screen.
