A team at Microsoft advertising set out last year to create “a series of new and truly unique ad experiences.”

Today, they are finished and are presenting prototypes from their journey. Five iconic brands including All Saints Clothing, Mercedes-Benz USA, Vans Shoes, MasterCard, and Dell are ready to strut their stuff. Let’s take a look at some of the ads Microsoft has been working on.

Microsoft is once again making fun of Apple’s iPad in its latest commercial; this time, it takes on Dell’s XPS 10 Windows RT Tablet.

The advertisement starts out by picking on the iPad’s home screen; specifically the fact that you can’t zoom around and see an overview of your content. The Apple tablet screams “Ouch” in protest as a user tries to pinch the view unsuccessfully.

Okay - the Xbox One isn’t actually watching us shower, but Microsoft doesn’t want us to go even a few minutes without seeing an ad for their latest console. Our Editor-At-Large, Simon Sage, tweeted this picture after getting back to his Los Angles hotel room.

The advertisement states: “Drive fast. Defend Rome. Skype on your TV. All in one. – Xbox One” The first two statements are references to Xbox One exclusive games including Forza Motorsport 5 and Crytek’s RYSE. The third statement is reference to the console’s new ability to make Skype calls via Kinect in full screen or snap mode, while playing a game.

What's an effective way to advertise and promote Windows Phone? To highlight awards and praise its leading flagship handset receives, of course. This is exactly what Microsoft has done with its latest advertisement. The company has highlighted quotes from various media sources that have reviewed the Nokia Lumia 920, including Engadget and CNET.

While Microsoft has been busy promoting the newest Windows Phone it hasn’t forgotten about the low-light Lumia that started it all. Earlier this week they released an advertisement for both television and the internet showcasing the low-light prowess of the Lumia 928 versus the Galaxy S4 and the iPhone 5.

The Lumia 928 borrows most of its camera tech from the Lumia 920. Here’s another video from the Redmond giant showing off the low-light powers of that original photo-eating Windows Phone.

Everyone has witnessed a slightly irritating child in the public (or perhaps you're the parent of one?), but an advertisement published on the Windows Phone UK YouTube account shows exactly how to handle such a situation. The point of the video? When handed a Windows Phone, said child soon hushes and gets on with firing some birds at pigs and all the rest.

Nokia as of late has been all about teasing new phones before their announcement. The Verizon Nokia Lumia 928's camera was repeatedly teased before its formal reveal on Friday, and with a new Nokia Lumia announcement scheduled for Tuesday in London, Nokia's at it again. This time the teasing is happening on national television in the UK on Channel 4, with an advertisement noticed by TechCrunch that focuses on the camera of an as-of-yet unannounced Lumia device, followed by title cards reading "More than your eyes can see" and "The new Nokia Lumia is coming". In other words, the Catwalk cometh.

The Lumia 920, Nokia's flagship Windows Phone has been spotted in an episode of House of Lies, a US comedy / drama television programme. The red variant of the device can be seen clearly in the photo above, displaying the call screen in Windows Phone 8. We've seen the Nokia Lumia 920 make cameos in several venues but this commercial spot for KPN may be the largest gathering of the Windows Phones we've seen to date.

KPN is a mobile service provider in the Netherlands and chose the Lumia 920 to showcase their 4G network. If my count is correct and this isn't some fancy special effects trick, it took 875 Lumia 920's to shoot this twenty-five second spot.  I wonder what they did with the Windows Phones once the commercial was shot?

Microsoft has published a rather humorous advertisement on its YouTube channel, which illustrates just how simple Windows 8 is. Consumers are shown to be hovering around a Windows counter with a handful of demonstration PC units available.

An employee approaches said members of public to enquire if they require any assistance, which leads to a child to pop out with a stool to run the weary traveller through the delights of the new operating system. The video is recorded in Portugal and is in the native language with subtitles.

Microsoft has released a dandy of an ad for the upcoming Surface Windows 8 Tablet. Titled "The Surface Movement" the sixty second ad highlights the folding kick stand, detachable keyboard/cover along with a glance at the Windows 8 operating system.

The ad combines a catchy tune, an assortment of dancers and a few Surface aerobatic stunts to grab your attention. It closes with the October 26th launch date and the only crucial bit of information missing is the price.

In addition to the ad surfacing on the Surface, there's also a dedicated YouTube Channel for the Surface. We'll keep an eye out for more ads and videos that Microsoft may sneak out ahead of the launch date.
