Beer has had quit the resurgence for smaller breweries the past few years. Different apps and services have sprung up to connect fans of craft beers with each other. Untappd is arguably one of the more popular social networks for the beer aficionado. We first reported it coming to Windows Phone back at the end of January, and now a little teaser on Untappd's Instagram shows the app might be coming any day now.

Untappd, the social network for those who like to spend their free time relaxing in their local with a well-poured pint, have recently announced that they are working on bringing an app to the Windows Phone 8 Store. What’s more they are anticipating having it released before the end of March, as revealed in a blog post picked up by our sister site CrackBerry.

Featuring the ability to discover popular establishments as you travel, as well as which beers come with the highest recommendation, Untappd brings together ideas from other popular networks (Foursquare, Twitter) such as badges and a stream showing what your friends are drinking.

Attending developers prepping for presentation

Last week, Wednesday 18th to be exact, we headed to the Windows Phone User Group meetup in London. The Shooting Star was the venue of the day's presentations and talks about Windows, Windows Phone, apps and other miscellaneous topics. It's a perfect chance for developers to pitch ideas, make contacts, receive help and advice, and meet us folk from Windows Phone Central.

The reason we pop along is simple - to help you (the developing community) receive as much exposure to our readership and beyond as possible. Without developers, apps and games we wouldn't have the same complete Windows Phone experience we have today, so it's important we provide developers with the opportunities to drive more traffic their way. From reviews to update coverage, Windows Phone Central has the means to help developers kick-start promotion and marketing.

Windows Phone App Review: RateYourBeer

Like beer? If so, take a look at the Windows Phone app RateYourBeer. It's a one stop source for beer brands and if you see something you like, you can chime in and share your comments. The app was originally released on the U.K. Windows Phone Marketplace and it has been recently unleashed on to the Marketplace in the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Germany and France.

RateYourBeer is our own Jay Bennett's home brew and was his first venture into Windows Phone development. It's a clean cut, straight forward app that presents a healthy amount of beer information. Oh, and as a way of giving back to the Windows Phone community Jay has open sourced the RateYourBeer API. Jay wanted to open up the API to everyone who might want to try their hand at Windows Phone development. You can find all the API information here at Jay's Blog and hit the break to learn more about RateYourBeer.

Someone apparently had enough of their Samsung Omnia and decided to torture the heck out of it. Needless to say, we don't think drowning in beer is going to be covered by your warranty.

But what a way to go.
