Gestulator is a gesture based calculator app for your Windows Phone. We took a look at the app some time ago and found it to be an interesting, handy calculator app.

Gestulator was recently updated to provide Windows Phone 8 support that also addresses a few stability issues. The Windows Phone 8 support allows the app to be compatible with all screen sizes and overall, the app seems to have a little more zip.  If you're looking for a basic calculator with a speedy interface, Gestulator is worth trying.

Windows Phone App Review: Gestulator

Gestulator is a calculator app for your Windows Phone that does away with the operations buttons and relies on swipe gestures instead. Gestulator is limited to the primary arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, division and multiplication) but if you need to do some quick calculations, I can see it coming in handy.

Windows Phone Review: Calculator Toolbox

Calculator Toolbox is... well... a calculator app for your Windows Phone. And to call it a calculator app is a mild understatement.

Beyond doing your basic arithmetic Calculator Toolbox throws in six categories that hold thirty four calculators. There are two versions of Calculator Toolbox for you to choose from. A freebie version that has ads and an ad free version that is running $.99. If you need more than your basic calculator, Calculator Toolbox is worth checking out.

All in 1 Toolbox - App Spotlight

Looking for a swiss army styled app for your Windows Phone? No, not one that comes with tweezers and a nail file but one that has a healthy collection of tools? If so, you need to check out All in 1 Toolbox.

All in 1 has nine tools in the box that include:

  • Flashlight: 4 different themes
  • Unit Converter: length, area, volume, weight, temperature, angle and time
  • Secure Notes: protects your notes with a password and encryption. Organizes your notes to categories.
  • Date Calculator: adds days, time and subtracts dates
  • Body Mass Index (BMI) Calculator: calculates BMI and shows BMI category
  • Tip Calculator: calculates the tip and splits the check
  • Counter: +/- buttons for counting, with save and load
  • Password Generator: generates a customizable password and saves it to the secure notes
  • Product Comparison: compares 2 products with price, quantity and discount.

The tools are launched from a "lazy susan" styled menu and are an interesting assortment of applications. I can see some coming in handy on a daily basis, while others may only be used once in a while.

The All in 1 Toolbox is running $1.99 and there is a free trial version available to let you give a whirl before buying. You can find All in 1 Toolbox here (opens Zune) at the Marketplace.

Oh... there is a free, ad-supported version of All in 1 Toolbox.  Toolbox Free has the same nine tools and simply adds an ad banner into the mix.  You can find Toolbox Free here at the Marketplace.

Review: Tipper

We’ve all had the experience. You’re out to dinner with friends and splitting the check has become an exercise in futility. Sure you could do the math, either in your head or by using the built in calculator on that cool Windows Mobile device you carry in your pocket; but both of those require thinking, which can be a lot to ask for.

Tipper for Windows Mobile Pocket PC (their name for it, one of these days the developers are going to catch up to the new naming scheme for Windows Mobile), solves this problem. Tipper is designed to assist in calculating tips and split checks between multiple people.

There are some twists to this application, which are detailed for you after the break.
