We last mentioned Pirate Cat back in May when it first launched. The game was initially offered for free as an introductory offer and turned out to be quite the mini-hit. The game is similar to a “jumper” where you need to reach a certain height but instead of leaping, your character (an ambitious feline) flies to the moon. You do this by launching your slingshot at birds, collecting their feathers and grabbing power ups along the way. Featuring catchy music and unique graphics, the game quickly won our hearts.

We’re now happy to report that version 1.1 is available in the Marketplace with the following new features and improvements...

We like our indie developers who make some fun casual games for Windows Phone, so seeing Pirate Cat available we'll take it. Cats people, it has cats...

The game is made by Xeno Bits and has an 1920's silent movie feel to it with black and white graphics and a catchy piano soundtrack. From the description:

"The captain found THE map, but it does not really lead to the expected location... Actually, it takes to the moon, and he thought that sending you there to dig up the treasure would be a great idea.

You are the Pirate Cat, and you have to reach the moon by using your brand new handmade wings, hitting birds and collecting feathers to keep flying. Try to reach the moon before the break of dawn!"

The game is fun, has cool challenges with trophies and superb graphics for an enjoyable experience. What's more, through June 1st you can grab the game for absolutely free--no ads, no catches--making this a great opportunity to pick up a quick little gem of a game.

Talking Tom Cat finally claws its way to Windows Phone

We get a lot of tips here at WPCentral, some amazing, some lame and some that confuse us as we actually don't know every silly app ever made (which is why we pay attention to you guys). So tonight when we got an email from a reader named Amiel stating "Talking Tom Cat finally made it to WP7" we were a little perplexed.

Fact is, we still are but yes, Talking Tom Cat is now on Windows Phone. What is Talking Tom Cat? It's one of those silly novelty apps that features a cartoon cat that you can pet, poke, prod and harass. Oh and he repeats everything you say back to him. In a funny voice.

With 150,000 ratings in the iTunes store and nearly 400,000 ratings on Android (seriously?) there is something about Tom that people just love. Or maybe it's the kids.

Either way, the app is now available on the Windows Phone Marketplace for the low, low price of $0. It's not our thing but hey, we're not here to judge so if you want it, you can pick it up here. Combined with the official Cleverbot app we guess Windows Phone is winning? Thanks, Amiel, for the tip!
