Microsoft hasn’t been shying away from the competition lately. Last week they finally hit a home run with an ad for Windows Phone. So here’s one highlighting the strengths of Bing over Google. It also happens to showcase a killer, but underused feature of Windows Phone. Videos below.

The following videos aren’t HD. Sorry, we got them from a reader before they were hidden from the Bing YouTube account. They were prematurely posted there, but not before our man grabbed them for us. Check them out.

Microsoft enlisted the likes of Holly Willoughby and James Corden to promote Windows Phone in a handful of advertisements. In the above video we can see Corden running through the HTC 8X he just unwrapped. MSN reports that this is an unscripted walkthrough, which would make Corden a fairly experienced fan of the platform.

The team has done a solid job ensuring those who are picked for the job are well informed of all the features presently available on Windows Phone. We'll look forward to see more work from both Microsoft and OEM partners in 2013.

During our recent interview with Nokia’s Chris Weber we asked whether or not the company would start showing off some specific features of their Lumia 920 (and other phones) in targeted ads. It looks like the answer is yes as Nokia today posted a new video urging users to switch to Lumia as the 920 and 820 are shown off.

As expected the ad concentrates on just a few specific areas of the Windows Phone 8 Lumia line: excellent photography, wireless charging and augmented reality (City Lens).

The style of the ad nicely juxtaposes with Microsoft’s own Windows Phone 8 ads with their “Meet the new Windows Phone 8 Reinvented Around You” message (see below) and we have a feeling the two companies collaborated to maintain that consistency.

The Nokia JBL PowerUp Wireless Speaker, an accessory that's marketed by the company for its Lumia range of Windows Phones (see our unboxing first impressions), has made an appearance in a Verizon commercial. The advertisement is for the HTC Droid DNA Android smartphone, which sports wireless charging, NFC and Bluetooth for similar functionality to Windows Phone when used with the wireless speaker.

Microsoft has published a rather humorous advertisement on its YouTube channel, which illustrates just how simple Windows 8 is. Consumers are shown to be hovering around a Windows counter with a handful of demonstration PC units available.

An employee approaches said members of public to enquire if they require any assistance, which leads to a child to pop out with a stool to run the weary traveller through the delights of the new operating system. The video is recorded in Portugal and is in the native language with subtitles.

Microsoft launches new Windows 8 commercials

We're entering into 2013 and Microsoft has already displayed signs of the company continuing to push on with its marketing campaign for its Windows family of products - namely Windows 8. A batch of new commercials have been released on its YouTube channel, with the first featuring the track "Everything at Once" by Australian singer Lenka.

Microsoft recently published a video on its Windows Phone YouTube channel that featured Misfit Toys and 'Bumble' (The Abominable Snow Monster of the North) for a new Windows Phone 8 commercial. The team is back with another festive themed commercial featuring not only the Snow Monster, but Santa Clause who is enjoying a quick dip before the mad rush to deliver presents to kids around the world.

Last year, Microsoft and Bing teamed up with the Misfit Toys and Hermey to promote the search engine in a clever ad. It was a cute little commercial and even had a claymation Windows Phone to go with it.

Now it looks like Microsoft has once again decided to use the toys and 'Bumble' (aka The Abominable Snow Monster of the North) for a new Windows Phone 8 piece...

Verizon has published a new video on its YouTube channel, an advertisement for the new Windows Phone 8X by HTC. The title "Ummm/Ohh" pretty much sums up the entire commercial, which we expect to see on the big screen shortly with the launch of the Windows Phone already in full effect.

Now that AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon are all theoretically selling Windows Phone 8 devices--assuming you can find them--it's time for the carriers to begin rolling out commercials. We've already seen a few from AT&T featuring Will Arnett (which have been running heavily on Hulu+ via our Xbox) but now it's Verizon's turn.

On Saturday Night Live last night, AT&T and Nokia kicked off their advertising for the Nokia Lumia 920. In a new ad featuring Arrested Development’s Will Arnett, the 920 was the featured device with the idea of “Working for Will”.

The conceit of the ad is that Arnett is looking for a new personal assistant after his last “Todd” was replaced by the Lumia 920 and he decided to quit. The interview? Simply go to AT&T’s site and there you can play with a virtual 920 where you ad and remove tiles, choose colors and basically get to experience the Windows Phone 8 UI.

The commercial is quite funny and we haven’t met anyone who doesn’t love Arnett, so in our book AT&T has done pretty well here. And seeing as the ad premiered during Saturday Night Live and we imagine will go into regular rotation, we see this a great move.

Head to AT&T’s site for more info (www.workforwill.com) and let us know in comments what you think of the campaign. Thanks, fahdriyami and aubreyq for the links!

Earlier this morning we wrote about the new Windows 8 commercial that aired during the Waking Dead on AMC last night.

Reader pbroy managed to rip a copy from a recording of the show and now we can show it to you in all its glory. The video gets quite a chuckle and should do well as far as gaining attention. Thanks, pbroy, for the video!

Disclaimer: There's no news here, but there is a cute video.

It looks as though Windows Phone is the choice of the next generation, or at least for one toddler in particular. The parents of this youngster posted a video of him shrieking in excitement over a YouTube clip of AT&T's LG Quantum commercial. Informed of the news that the commercial is on, he runs from the other room to stand transfixed on the laptop, and plays the video over and over again.

Now, it could be that the kid is just so blown away by the fast, smooth operation of the feature-packed Windows Phone operation system. However, something tells us that it has more to do with the cute, orange alien who stars in the ad.

Looks like AT&T is not forgetting their important demographic of Spanish speakers as they're running a new ad for the Lumia 900 featuring Ricardo Arjona. For those of you not familiar, he's a very popular and famous "Guatemalan Grammy Award- and Latin Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter" (thank you, Wikipedia!).

In other words, they landed a fairly be celeb for this ad which seems to show of the strengths of the Lumia 900 fairly well. More importantly, this commerical is targeted for Mother's Day, which is an opportune time to buy mom a $99 Cyan Lumia 900, especially if has Ricardo Arjona serenading her. (We'll stick with flowers, thanks)

Okay, perhaps it's a tad cheesy but to be honest, it's no different than any other smartphone commercial out there and the ladies deserve to have a nice phone too.

So go buy one for mom, she'll finally forgive you for not calling her more often.

Thanks, Jonathan, for the tip

Now that we've seen some of the Smartphone Beta Test ads for the Lumia 900 from Nokia, AT&T has their standard fare commercial showing off the new phone as well.

This ad feels more traditional with a young gent named Colin trying to impress a girl he's pining for by using his Lumia 900 as a conversation starter. Not a bad move and the demographic seems about right.

The ad is humorous but also displays the phone's strengths like the bold cyan color, the unique design of the phone and of course those Live Tiles. Hopefully such an ad will begin to air on TV as we can see it being effective for getting the message out that Windows Phone is "beautifully different".

While we wait for the AT&T Lumia 900 to grace our growing Windows Phone collection here at WPCentral, it shouldn't be a surprise that Nokia is already thinking about how to promote the darn thing. Their attempt at "carpet bombing" consumers with Lumia ads is called Operation Rolling Thunder and one of those strategies may be using famous baseball player (and current ESPN Baseball Tonight analyst) John Kruk in some shape or form.

We know this because the man himself tweeted as much yesterday, stating:

"In St.Pete, doing a tv commercial for Nokia, got to preview the new Lumia 900, very cool"

No other details were given, so we don't yet know in which capacity Kruk was used, but safe to say it's for AT&T and presumably the Lumia 900. Should be interesting to see what comes of it in the coming weeks.

The above advert is something special and unique. While 80% of the commercial features a similar presentation of the Lumia 800, which recently launched in the country, the first few seconds is an interesting introduction. The start of the advert is integrated into a popular Swedish station's logo and kicks off at the start of commercial breaks. Sweden has also witnessed a more festive 800 advert being aired

'The Amazing Everyday' Indian commercial [Video]

Remember the Nokia "The Amazing Everyday" advertising campaign when it first kicked off? We saw a montage of clips bundled together to form an energetic TV advertisement. Now Nokia India has inserted some elements relevant to the targeted country (as can be seen in the above video).

Xbox Companion app for Windows Phone [Video]

Well look at that, we've finally got the Xbox Companion app for Windows Phone and now follows an entertaining video showing the app off. Highlighting the features available to users, the Metro UI shines as the presentation flips between the phone and the Xbox system, painting the console as an entertainment hub. Best of all, all this Xbox Live integration is unique to the platform.

The Little Amazing Show ad-campaign: Episode 3

To the end of last month Nokia started "The Little Amazing Show" campaign, which focuses on viewing the brand as an identity instead of a mobile phone. The first episode was set in Berlin, the second in London, and now we have the third in Madrid. Sit back and enjoy the entertaining advertisement.
