commercial

Disclaimer: There's no news here, but there is a cute video.

It looks as though Windows Phone is the choice of the next generation, or at least for one toddler in particular. The parents of this youngster posted a video of him shrieking in excitement over a YouTube clip of AT&T's LG Quantum commercial. Informed of the news that the commercial is on, he runs from the other room to stand transfixed on the laptop, and plays the video over and over again.

Now, it could be that the kid is just so blown away by the fast, smooth operation of the feature-packed Windows Phone operation system. However, something tells us that it has more to do with the cute, orange alien who stars in the ad.

Looks like AT&T is not forgetting their important demographic of Spanish speakers as they're running a new ad for the Lumia 900 featuring Ricardo Arjona. For those of you not familiar, he's a very popular and famous "Guatemalan Grammy Award- and Latin Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter" (thank you, Wikipedia!).

In other words, they landed a fairly be celeb for this ad which seems to show of the strengths of the Lumia 900 fairly well. More importantly, this commerical is targeted for Mother's Day, which is an opportune time to buy mom a $99 Cyan Lumia 900, especially if has Ricardo Arjona serenading her. (We'll stick with flowers, thanks)

Okay, perhaps it's a tad cheesy but to be honest, it's no different than any other smartphone commercial out there and the ladies deserve to have a nice phone too.

So go buy one for mom, she'll finally forgive you for not calling her more often.

Thanks, Jonathan, for the tip

Now that we've seen some of the Smartphone Beta Test ads for the Lumia 900 from Nokia, AT&T has their standard fare commercial showing off the new phone as well.

This ad feels more traditional with a young gent named Colin trying to impress a girl he's pining for by using his Lumia 900 as a conversation starter. Not a bad move and the demographic seems about right.

The ad is humorous but also displays the phone's strengths like the bold cyan color, the unique design of the phone and of course those Live Tiles. Hopefully such an ad will begin to air on TV as we can see it being effective for getting the message out that Windows Phone is "beautifully different".

While we wait for the AT&T Lumia 900 to grace our growing Windows Phone collection here at WPCentral, it shouldn't be a surprise that Nokia is already thinking about how to promote the darn thing. Their attempt at "carpet bombing" consumers with Lumia ads is called Operation Rolling Thunder and one of those strategies may be using famous baseball player (and current ESPN Baseball Tonight analyst) John Kruk in some shape or form.

We know this because the man himself tweeted as much yesterday, stating:

"In St.Pete, doing a tv commercial for Nokia, got to preview the new Lumia 900, very cool"

No other details were given, so we don't yet know in which capacity Kruk was used, but safe to say it's for AT&T and presumably the Lumia 900. Should be interesting to see what comes of it in the coming weeks.

The above advert is something special and unique. While 80% of the commercial features a similar presentation of the Lumia 800, which recently launched in the country, the first few seconds is an interesting introduction. The start of the advert is integrated into a popular Swedish station's logo and kicks off at the start of commercial breaks. Sweden has also witnessed a more festive 800 advert being aired

Remember the Nokia "The Amazing Everyday" advertising campaign when it first kicked off? We saw a montage of clips bundled together to form an energetic TV advertisement. Now Nokia India has inserted some elements relevant to the targeted country (as can be seen in the above video).

Well look at that, we've finally got the Xbox Companion app for Windows Phone and now follows an entertaining video showing the app off. Highlighting the features available to users, the Metro UI shines as the presentation flips between the phone and the Xbox system, painting the console as an entertainment hub. Best of all, all this Xbox Live integration is unique to the platform.

To the end of last month Nokia started "The Little Amazing Show" campaign, which focuses on viewing the brand as an identity instead of a mobile phone. The first episode was set in Berlin, the second in London, and now we have the third in Madrid. Sit back and enjoy the entertaining advertisement.

Last week Nokia kicked off a new series of adverts that focused on life itself, rather than a mobile phone, and was shot in Berlin. Today we have episode two, which invites viewers on a trip around merry old London. With how impressive the Lumia 800 marketing campaigns have proved to be, these small clips are a breathe of fresh air.

Nokia Lumia - The Amazing Calls

Although this commercial has been out for two weeks, we don't recall seeing it, let alone showing it to you. So in that sense, being that it's in French and we mostly live in the U.S., we consider this "new". Or at the very least, if you haven't seen it, you'll probably find it really cool and interesting.

In short, it's a commercial for the Nokia Lumia 800 set to pretty awesome music with people running towards a light. We find it amusing and effective, so kudos to Nokia for making it as Windows Phone needs all the help it can in the image department.

Secret Omnia W advertisement

Probably not much of a secret to some, but we've come across a Samsung Omnia W advertisement on the SAMSUNGmobile YouTube channel, which is only available to those who have the link (it can't be found via search etc.) Should you be feeling down, you wont be after this advert, it's truly upbeat and shows off the Omnia W running Windows Phone well. Samsung even shows the handset being used in sunlight, almost looks as good as how the Nokia Lumia performs.

One of the nice features of Windows Phone is how it integrates with other Microsoft products such as OneNote. The above ad highlights this function in a lighthearted way.

The thirty second spot covers a lot and shows the potential that the Windows Phone has.  Anyone else making use of OneNote?

Scott Davies has created a mix'n'mash Windows Phone fan advert that takes all the best bits from multiple samples of official videos. A more up beat attempt at promoting the OS, good job. If this approach isn't your cup of tea, then perhaps we can excite you with the official Mango video?

We've seen the new Windows Phone adverts Microsoft seems to be pushing out to their YouTube channel as well as other places and they've caught our attention for all the right reasons. Probably due to Brandon Foy being hired? The adverts and videos we've seen thus far have focused on highlighted Mango features. There was one thing missing - Bing.

Microsoft has solved this by releasing four new videos where viewers can enjoy a presentation of services including Vision, Local Scout, and web search. Still upbeat, still beautiful. Check out the video above and three more after the break.

A new advert has been uploaded to the Windows Phone YouTube account that shows off the top features in Mango. The music is definitely familiar (from a previous video) and suits the platform well with the sleek look of Metro and the elegant device. This seems like the user-orientated brother to the developer advert we covered earlier this month. Still up-beat, still awesome.

We're just running into everyone today, including the legend that is Brandon Foy aka the creator of the fan-made commerical that went viral. In fact it caught Microsoft's eye (we hear Watson's) and it was pushed for him to go further and make a bigger, even better commerical.

That video premeired today and can be seen on YouTube. With enough views (pegged at 200,000) Microsoft will turn it into a TV spot.  We spoke with Brandon briefly and found out it took him 2-3 weeks to create the original ad and about 1-2 weeks for the new one (sounds like he has the forumla down now). So why did he do it? Simple, as a creative person with an eye for the visual art, he fell for the Metro design on Windows Phone and did what he does best: evidently creating rocking videos with hip French techno  (seriously, 'Danger' is awesome).

We hope to see more work from him in the future and we think he has quite a bright future. Make sure you check his website BrandonFoy.TV for more info.

For the last few years, HTC has been to Windows Mobile what Michael Jordan was to the Chicago Bulls in the early 90's; they haven’t been the only piece to the puzzle, but without them it just wouldn't be the same. HTC's growth into a major player in the mobile arena is one of the big success stories of the last decade.

HTC's marketing department has been very busy recently in creating TV ads for devices such as the T-Mobile HD2 as well as some of their Android offerings. HTC as a brand is really in the early stages of development, with videos such as "The Quietly Brilliant Story of HTC" giving a nice introduction to HTC’s history and progression into a company that is mentioned in the same breath as heavyweights such as Apple and Google.

With all the talk about Windows Phone 7 Series and where the whole Windows Phone experience is heading, we started reminiscing.  Remember the good old days when Pocket PC was new and innovative? We stumbled upon one of Microsoft's commercial/promotional videos on the mobile operating system that would eventually evolve into Windows Mobile.

The circa 2000 commercial touts innovative technology such as portable email, voice notes, pocket Outlook. State of the art hardware included a blazing fast 130mhz processor, 16-32mb of RAM and 65K color touch screens.

While these specs pale in comparison of the 1ghz Snapdragon processors and on-board memory measured by the gigabytes, this commercial gives you a feel of how far the industry has come in ten years.
