EE

UK mobile operator Everything Everywhere (EE for short) has launched its 30-day 4G SIM-only plans to take full advantage of the network improvements the company has been carrying out since last year. Being the only operator to offer LTE to consumers in the UK, these new plans allow consumers to trial the EE network. It was only back in November when EE eventually launched its 12-month SIM-only plans.

UK mobile operator EE has released EE Film for Windows Phone and it's absolutely stunning. We don't tend to have many apps from the UK networks, but this is a given considering Orange (which is owned by EE) offers subscribers the opportunity to check latest movies in participating cinemas at a discounted price each and every Wednesday, coupled with other goodies.

Speaking of which, this is exactly what the EE Film app is for. Should you enjoy checking out the latest titles and take full advantage of the Orange / 4GEE Wednesday 2-for-1 deal, then you'll definitely need to have this app installed on your Windows Phone.

We’ve had a few reports come in today and a discussion in our forums about a new firmware update that is evidently being pushed out to those with a Lumia 920. To be clear, this is just a firmware update (not OS), bringing it from 1232.5951.1249.1017 to 1232.5951.1249.1018. That’s a small change and we’re confident in saying no new features will be on board.

A video published on the EE YouTube channel leads us to assume that the mobile operator also had a hand in the magic that Nokia managed to achieve with UK estate agent Foxtons. The footage shows just how the agency manages to save time with Windows Phone. If you look back a few weeks ago, Foxtons recently adopted the Lumia 820 and is actively making use of Windows Phone on the EE 4G network.

We've just got word that UK mobile operator EE has begun rolling out the Portico update for Lumia 920 Windows Phones that are tied to the network. The Windows Phone 8 update introduces a number of improvements, including SMS call reject, persistent Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi hotspot and addresses stability issues (such as those annoying soft-resets).

EE today announced a handful of new 4G plans that share the goal in offering customers with greater choice when it comes to 4G plans. Currently the UK mobile network operator is still the only provider of 4G in the UK, which is set to continue until spring 2013 when remaining UK operators will be able to launch respective upgrades. So what are the new plans at EE like?

Considered by many to be the Windows Phone 8 device to get, the Lumia 920 has unfortunately been locked to a single network here in the UK. That’s all about to end and to celebrate the guys at Three UK have released their first video to introduce the device to their customers.

Since the launch of Windows Phone 8, Three has been carrying only the HTC 8X. To expand that range Three is going to add not only the 920 but the eagerly awaited Lumia 620 too.

The UK's first network operator to offer 4G, as well as being the exclusive partner for the Lumia 920 is currently offering the Windows Phone for a discounted price when purchased on PAYG (Pay As You Go). EE has been the only operator in the UK to offer the Lumia 920 since the Windows Phone 8 device was launched two months ago.

Vodafone UK has published a new entry on its blog detailing plans for Windows Phone 8. The carrier previously unveiled that it would be stocking a selection of Windows Phone 8 hardware in early 2013. More details have been revealed as the company has now confirmed that a new Windows Phone will be joining the Lumia 820, HTC 8X and HTC 8S. It would appear as though the Lumia 920 exclusivity deal with EE is drawing to an end.

The Lumia 920 is being picked up for just £399 (excluding £10 top-up) at EE stores on PAYG (Pay As You Go), according to a thread on the Hot UK Deals website. The Nokia Windows Phone is bundled with a wireless charging plate and while being locked to EE's realm of magic, it's at least £100 cheaper than purchasing the device unlocked at retailers.

EE, the only UK carrier to launch 4G LTE services thus far, has unleashed its SIM-only plans. Pricing starts at £21 a month with a 500MB data allowance, and tops at £36 for a 5GB upgrade to further increase the capabilities of the 4G speeds. So are these prices any better than what's already available at the carrier?

It hasn't been the best of starts for the new UK carrier since it launched the first 4G network in the country. EE holds exclusivity on the Lumia 920, with available handsets at Phones4u locked to the network, forcing consumers with different providers to look online at unlocked prices - which went anywhere up to £550. So why has there been so much outrage at EE and the Lumia 920 launch?

There has been much speculation and angst about the availability of the Lumia 920 here in the UK due to EE having an exclusivity deal on the hero Windows Phone 8 device.

Looks like the folks over at Clove are about to step in and provide the Lumia 920 in glossy white for your SIM-free and unlocked buying pleasure. That is, if you have £520.00 laying around to invest in one..

To provide further incentive for consumers to choose the Lumia 920, UK retailer Phones4u is offering a free Nokia 360 Wireless Speaker with each Lumia 920 order. This is on top of the already established inclusion of a free wireless charger with every Lumia sold.

Nokia has confirmed the available dates and exclusivity arrangements for the Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 today.

We have already had a list of those in the UK set to stock the devices but now we know a little bit more including how long the EE exclusive will last for the UK. Let’s clear this up.

One could easily turn this into a hate-filled rant at EE, but we'll remain calm with a cup of tea in one hand and the crumpet in the other. According to a press release sent out this morning (crossing over Nokia incidentally), EE announced its UK 4G plans, and what it will be charging consumers to make use of the extra speeds offered by the UK's first LTE network.

Now don't get us wrong, we expected a slight jump in pricing due to the exclusivity held by EE on the improved network speed, but what has been revealed by the company is almost mind boggling.

UK carrier EE (Everything Everywhere) has already begun to migrate existing customers with Orange and T-Mobile UK across to the new brand. Those who own Windows Phones and make use of said networks will see "EE" on the phone Live Tile once the switch has been carried out. The company is also in the process of launching the UK's first 4G LTE network on October 30th.

Taking on the mammoth task of moving both Orange and T-Mobile under the single brand (while forming three separate carriers), as well as firing up LTE, EE is certainly one of the major players in the mobile industry for consumers who reside within the UK. While customers will be seeing a change in branding on mobile devices, their contracts with both Orange and T-Mobile will remain. It's more aesthetics than anything that will affect service provided.

EE plans to launch the UK's first LTE network on October 30th, according to a press release which was sent out today. EE, along with UK carriers, have only just reached an agreement with Ofcom and the government to bring forward the launch of multi-carrier 4G launches, which will take place in spring 2013.

The UK is going LTE

UK mobile operators, communications regulator Ofcom, and the government have agreed to start rolling out LTE in early 2013. The goal is for high speed data connectivity to launch by spring, approximately six months earlier than originally planned, providing consumers with quicker speed while using Internet services on smartphones.

EE (Everything Everywhere) has already been given the green light in 'switching on' its LTE network at multiple locations across the country ahead of the competition. To the dismay of the other carriers, EE aims to have 16 cities with LTE speeds by this Christmas, providing 20 million customers with a significant increase in speeds.
