Nokia squeezes out a new filter for #2InstaWithLove app for Windows Phone, no update required

We guess Nokia is enjoying creating these new filters for their #2InstaWithLove app, as they keep pushing out new ones each and every week.

And although this morning we saw an actual app update, you won’t need to download a new version tonight. So long as you have version 2.3 you can now open the app on your phone and you’ll get the new filter live on your phone. Kind of cool how they do that, no?

So what’s the new filter called? Smartshot. And it looks to add a light, reddish hue to your photos, should you choose to use it. Overall, it’s a fun little app and you can’t beat the price. Thanks, Kloyd A., for the heads up!

SophieLens Pro is a photo editing app for your Windows Phone 8 device that lets you apply a wide range of filters to your photos.

SophieLens Pro is a fairly straight forward photography app that launches straight to a camera app that previews the selected filter in the view finder. The filter style is noted in the bottom left corner of the view finder and two button controls sit on the right edge of the view finder that controls the flash and changes the filter.

CamWow shutters on over to Windows Phone 8

CamWow is a simple Windows Phone 8 photography app that allows you to apply unique filters to your photographs. CamWow won't let you apply the creative effects to existing images but if you're looking to put a twist on new images, it might be worth a try.

CamWow's user interface is about as simple as it gets. You have preview windows for each filter and three control buttons at the bottom of the screen. Just swipe left or right to choose your effect, tap on the preview window to pull up that effect, line up your shot and tap the screen to capture the image.

Windows Phone Central App Roundup: Photo Effects Apps

There's very little argument that the camera is one of the center pieces of our Windows Phone. We use it to capture the moments in time that are special and sharing them. We've touched on several photo editing apps for our Windows Phones in the past (Thumba, Fhotoroom, Fantasia Painter, etc.) and this week's round up focuses on those editing apps that simply apply effects to our pictures.

These are the apps that apply artistic filters, frames, and the sort to give our photos a little flair and pizzazz. They turn a color photo into a black and white image, give the image a sepia filter for that antique feel, or presents your photos in a Polaroid styled frame. No cropping, exposure editing, etc. Just effects with a little framing thrown in for good measure.

As always, if we've left out a title that you would recommend, it shouldn't reflect poorly on things. If we've missed one, feel free to chime in down below in the comments.

Carbon for Windows Phone updated bringing filters, landscape composition and more

The team behind Carbon for Windows Phone, the popular Twitter client which was born on webOS, has just released version 1.3 and the update has gone live on the Marketplace. This latest version is quite the update for those who were seeking landscape tweet composition, something our own Daniel Rubino also requested.

As well as the above feature, and numerous bug fixes and enhancements, the following is included in v1.3:

Timeline Filters/Mute for Users, Hashtags, and Services such as Foursquare, Getglue, etc…
Further Timeline scrolling & general performance enhancements
Read Later Enhancements: tap+hold on URLs in Tweet screen to save for reading later

Windows Phone App Review: Sketch Camera

Sketch Camera is a neat, simple photography app for your Windows Phone camera. Neat for the effects you can apply to your photos, simple for the layout. The photography app allows you to apply six artistic filters to images as you capture them as well as apply the filters to existing photos.

If you're a fan of sketch or drawing filters for your photos, Sketch Camera is worth a look at.
