Nokia HQ, Espoo, Finland

File this under rumor but it's coming from a notable source, Finland’s own Helsingin Sanomat newspaper. The report states that Nokia is in the process of selling off their main headquarters in Espoo, Finland. The move would be quite shocking to the country as physically the building has come to represent the company in many ways--much like the Chrysler building in New York City years ago.

According to data from StatCounter, Windows Phone is doing relatively well in Finland by capturing 8% of the smartphone web traffic, thanks to Nokia. The Finnish manufacturer is working hard at promoting not only the Lumia line of smartphones, but the Windows Phone platform too, and on a global scale. It's good to see brand support in its home country remain strong.

Unfortunately, the picture for the rest of the world is rather bleak. Microsoft's OS has only 0.53% of the worldwide mobile web traffic. The country sat in second place, behind Finland, is Iceland at 2.3%. Even though it's quite a considerable gap between the two spots, it's interesting to see Iceland near the top instead of the UK or other markets that have witnessed heavy marketing.

From first-to-tenth in terms of web traffic ranking for Windows Phone: Finland, Iceland, Martinique, Faroe Islands, Austria, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Denmark, and Spain. While web traffic doesn't equal sales or true market share, it's an indicator of where Windows Phone is performing well. IDC has recently put Windows Phone (combined with Windows Mobile) marketshare at just 2.2%.

Nokia is set to hold the Nokia World conference this year in Helsinki, Finland.

It would appear that the Nokia TV app has been released in the Windows Phone Marketplace. Finland's Windows Phone Marketplace that is.

Based on earlier information the Nokia TV app will tie into local television channels, have the ability to stream shows over wifi or data connection, and videos can be downloaded to the device for offline viewing.

Not having any hands on with the app, we'll defer to any of our reader's who have had a chance to download and try Nokia TV. It is our understanding the app isn't listed in the Nokia Collection just yet. You'll need to search by keyword, scroll down the list of New Apps or you could try this link to the Marketplace.  Again, Nokia TV is only available in Finland is available everywhere but features only Finnish TV.

We've reported in the past that AT&T was rumored to be getting a magenta (red, fuchsia, pink etc) Nokia Lumia 900 on Sunday, May 13th right in time for Mother's Day.

Since that report we've had a sighting in a Microsoft Store (since removed) and Nokia's Facebook page (also since removed).

The image above clearly shows once and for all that a magenta Lumia 900 does indeed exist. What's more, those in Finland will evidently have the honors of  being one of the first regions to get their hands on it.

The retail site Gigantti has the phone listed with the SKU NOKLUMIA900MA with a release slated for an unspecified day in, you guessed it, May.

The phone is up for pre-order now but who knows how long it will be up since last we checked, Nokia has not made an official announcement on such a color being offered. Of course knowing that the Lumia 800 comes in that color choice, it's not much of a stretch to see its bigger brother get the red treatment as well.

So AT&T, your move.

Nokia has announced the dates and location of this year's Nokia World - the event that covers everything 'Nokia'. While Nokia World 2011 in London was a blast, we're looking forward to the next event from the manufacturer as it's most probable that Windows Phone 8 ("Apollo") handsets will be unveiled. All we know for the moment is that it's going to be a fairly sizeable show with it being held on Nokia's home turf in Helsinki, Finland.

September 25-26 are the set dates and the Helsinki Exhibition & Convention Centre is the designated venue. 2012 will be the first year that the event has been held in Finland, which couldn't be better timed with Helsinki being officially titled as the World Design Capital for the year.
