UK video game retailer GAME has a Reward app to help those with loyalty cards collect and spend points when in stores. We've just spotted an advertisement on the GAME YouTube account, which shows off apps for both iOS and Android as well as "Windows 8 phone".

Tired of old-school construction games that lack real action? You're not alone. This very quote kicks off the description for Game Insight's latest release for Windows Phone, My Country. The game is essentially a challenging city builder with more content than one would expect. Players are tasked with developing industries, transportation infrastructure, hiring employees, eliminating ecological threats and controlling energy use.

Oh, did we mention you're building your own country too?

Video game retailer GAME is continuing to push its mobile app for Windows Phone. The company has now released version 4, which follows the recent update that only came out last month. Version 3 of GAME Reward sported Wallet integration and a user interface refresh. It was a welcomed bump, but there's always room for improvement. Cue yet another update.

You might want to check out Sparkle for Windows Phone 8, which is a game that will take to your liking and offer up many hours of gameplay to pass the time.

The official GAME Reward app for Windows Phone has been bumped to version 2.0, which introduces a number of features and addresses a few bugs. We previously looked at the app when it was made available for Windows Phone 8, but were stunned to see just how limited the experience was - if one managed to get the thing working.

The developer has managed to sort through some of the issues and what we now have is a usable client. So what's new in 2.0?

Have you ever played through a video game you really enjoyed and thought to yourself, "Wouldn't it be great if I could run my own video game developer studio?" Well, now you can with Game Dev Tycoon by Greenheart Games (www.greenheartgames.com). The Windows 8 title is a simulator that puts the player in charge of a video game studio, which all starts in the garage.

Today we saw an update arrive for Xbox Live title Cut The Rope, this update looks to have cured the graphical bug seen when launching the game from a dedicated tile on the Start screen.

The otherwise excellent app has exhibited a bug whereby pinning the game to the start screen and launching it would display an odd multi-colour screen and a progress bar. That same thing wouldn’t happen if the app was launched from within the Games Hub.

LiquidLab, a title that won the Developer Camp Competition in Macedonia earlier this year, is now available on the Windows Phone Store at version 2.0. It's an indie Windows Phone project that makes use of a simple concept - the aim of the puzzle game is to fill a beaker of liquid to reach the designated level. Not too exciting? In LiquidLab there are no measurements on the glass to guide the player, and one has to use other bottles and tubes to measure the volume. Sounds slightly challenging now, right?

Microsoft's BUILD event is now over, which took place last week and saw the company reveal details about Windows 8's launch, as well as launching the Windows Phone 8 SDK for developers who have been anticipating its release. To celebrate the event, the developer of MonsterUp Adventures, Karios Games, has slashed the price of the title temporarily.

It’s always nice to see when official apps or even games arrive for Windows Phone and such is the case for Sony’s full Wheel of Fortune game. The game just landed on the Store today and we take it for a…spin. (Yes, bad puns are free folks, stay for the drinks).

The game is actually well done—snazzy graphics, smooth gameplay, some wicked guitar riffs but it’s the price that has us reeling: $4.99. Yup and mind you, this is not an Xbox for Windows Phone game, so no achievements. But hey, we took the bullet for you guys so you can watch our video review above.

The popular Windows Mobile game HexaLines now breathes fresh air on the Windows Store as a Windows 8 title. We last looked at HexaLines with the news of the strategic game making its way to both Windows Phone and the desktop stores. The aim of the game is to expand by deploying new hexagons (all players start from the centre) and attempting to cut off or annihilate enemy colours.

Last year we mentioned the game Gears on the Windows Phone Marketplace, noting it was quite a fun little puzzler. The goal of the game is to connect two stationary gears on the screen with a finite selection of variable sized gears from your collection. You simply drag-n-drop them on screen, connecting them up to each other and the gears start spinning.

The game starts off easy but quickly ramps up to being more challenging. With 100 levels it should keep most users busy for sometime but replay value is obviously low since the puzzles aren’t randomized.

Atoms, the Amiga inspired board game is now available to all in the Marketplace. We previously caught up with Ross, the developer of the game at the Bournemouth Dev Day where he was kind enough to give us a first look. It’s a turn based board game that Ross has been working to release for some time. There is an Xbox360 variant in the works and a homebrew Nintendo DS version too.

The game currently supports six players, be them human or AI but presently no turn based online play. The game sports a nice Amiga style soundtrack and clean punchy graphics.

You can download Atoms from the Marketplace for £0.79p or you can run with the full, ad supported version for free. (QR code after the break)

**UPDATE**

Ross has been in touch to advise that at present the app is currently only available in the following countries US, UK, Canada, Ireland and Italy.

You can run, but you can't hide on Xbox LIVE

Although Contract Killer was known to be coming to Xbox LIVE today (and sure enough, it’s out) it looks like Microsoft slipped in a 2nd title—Lode Runner Classic.

The game fetches for $2.99 and is a throwback to the old school arcade games from the 1980s. In fact, many of you will have childhood flashbacks with this one as it was quite popular with home PC systems which include the Apple II series, the Atari 8-bit family, the VIC-20, the Commodore 64 and the IBM PC and it’s known to be the first game with a level editor.

Gameplay is straightforward—run through mazes and do things. Okay, we’re way oversimplifying as this game actually has a lot going on for it (just see the tutorials). There are an included 150 levels which should keep people busy for a long time and it seems like a fair amount of gameplay versus what you’re paying for it.

Check our video hands on and more details after the break...

Nokia has finally released an "exclusive" video game for their Lumia line of Windows Phones. But no, it's not Angry Birds: Space or anything from EA, it's a little indie title that they had on Symbian awhile back called Climate Mission 3D.

Sounds like a bad 80's movie to us. That or an episode of Captain Planet.

Regardless of Cartman-like reaction it's not half bad. The 3D graphics are well done and the music is chill enough without being annoying. You basically have three mini games--Iceberg, Ants and Trees--which keep you occupied with little tasks like making bigger icebergs, forcing slave ants to do you bidding by collecting pine needles or populating the earth with fruit launching trees.

Although we jest at the theme of the game, considering it's free it' s not a terrible time killer. While the initial levels are dead simple (to train you) it does get a little challenging. There are also things to unlock and do around the globe and we guess the message ain't too bad albeit tacky.

But hey, free is free so if you're on a Nokia Lumia phone go and grab Climate Mission 3D  now in the Nokia Collection. Thanks, Kay O., for the tip

There has been some interest shown for a Draw Something app to be made for Windows Phone. There are already apps available for both iOS and Android, allowing friends (and random people) to compete against one another by drawing illustrations and guessing correctly. A thread over at GetSatisfaction has over 800 people wanting the app brought to Microsoft's platform.

Joseph, an official representative from OMGPOP (developers of the title), has stated "if there's a high demand for it", then they'll definitely look to develop an app for Windows Phone.

Be sure to head on over to the thread at GetSatisfaction to show your interest should you desire Draw Something for Windows Phone. You can also get in touch with OMGPOP directly.

Press Play, the game studio behind the Xbox LIVE games Tentacles (our review) and Max & the Magic Marker (our review), has released a beta version of their Unity porting toolkit (Fast Forward - FFWD) for Windows Phone developers who wish to port across a Unity game engine developed title to the mobile platform.

"The framework has been used for creating the games Max and the Magic Marker and Tentacles for Windows Phone 7, and is currently being used by another project at Press Play."

Developers will be able to use this toolkit (released under the MS-PL license) to export assets in the Unity editor. Full 3D support is present for graphics, but physics are limited to the 2D Farseer Engine. What's great about the toolkit is that it enables developers to do most of the work in Unity 3D and then port it to XNA.

Head on over to GitHub to download FFWD and be sure to check out the wiki.
