Today in Germany, the District Court of Mannheim ruled that HTC was not guilty of infringing on two patents owned by Nokia, including one involving the use of Google Play on HTC Android devices. The patent (EP0812120), which nebulously covers a "method for using services offered by a telecommunication network, a telecommunication system and a terminal for it," was one that HTC called the "flagship patent" in the suit that alleges over 45 intellectual property violations by HTC.

Developer advertising platform AdDuplex has released data for the month of March. The report is based on data collected from 389 different Windows Phone apps that utilise the AdDuplex SDK (v2). March 1st was the designated date for the data to be withdrawn and analysed.

So what's new in the report? Well, Windows Phone 8 is growing, but Windows Phone 7 still holds out strong and the Lumia 822 is evidently selling well.

Here at Windows Phone Central we often get accused of focusing on one manufacturer in the Windows Phone world, and not giving the others equal time. The truth of the matter is that we go where the news is, and this week especially has been a week all about Nokia and their heavy presence at MWC.

Still, we want to bring as much of the MWC experience to you as we can so when we find something relevant you'll know about it. Whilst we wish there was a story to be told in this post, the truth is that HTC displayed their Windows Phone 8 offerings by way of exactly 4 devices (among easily 40 seperate HTC One devices). So, here's the shots we took of that display, plus some dudes jumping...

HTC plans to unveil a mid-range Windows Phone, known internally as the HTC Tiara. The news joins our earlier coverage on HTC still committed to the mobile platform and future hardware development. What's more is Unwired View reveals that the Tiara will be launched running the next version of Windows Phone 8.

The good news, HTC is still committed to Windows Phone and plans on releasing a new handset later this year. The bad news, whatever is released won't likely be a large screened device or share design elements with HTC's latest Android offering, the One.

Tai Ito, HTC's Vice President for Global Product Planning, commented while in attendance at Mobile World Congress 2013,

"We are actually fully committed to our Windows Phone business. We do have good collaboration with Microsoft for a future release this year. I understand that Windows Phone 8 is not as good as the market expected, we think that it could take time and we will continue working with them."

Ito added that any new HTC Windows Phones will likely not have larger screens and the company is taking a family approach to separation.

Gibbage Cases has been a roller coaster, grass roots effort by Windows Phone enthusiast Kevin "Gibbage" Miller. Miller was looking for a simple case to protect his HTC 8X with three principles in mind; protection, design and function.

The end result was a unique case that offered a buffer between the 8X and harsh surfaces. The Gibbage Case may not offer much protection from falls but it should protect the soft outer coating of the 8X from scratches and rubbing thin. We received a Windows Phone 8 theme version (complete with the Windows Phone Central Logo) of the Gibbage Case. We took it out for a test drive over the past few days and found it to be a nice option for those who prefer a minimalistic approach to their cases.

You may be aware of the HTC One that was announced today. The Android smartphone is HTC's next high-end device that's tasked with halting the company sinking further down. As many of our readers know, HTC also manufactures Windows Phones. We've already taken a quick look at both the specifications of the HTC One and camera capabilities, comparing it to Windows Phone 8 hardware.

HTC has announced the HTC One, a new Android-powered smartphone. The device is made from an aluminium uni-body and is the company's attempt to stop the current down spiral by releasing new, unique hardware. So what's included in the new Android smartphone and how do the specifications compare to the latest Windows Phones?

HTC unveiled it's latest Android device, the HTC One, today with a lot of the hype centered around the device's camera. HTC billed the camera as being a new experience for smartphones, likely in response to the attention Nokia has received from the innovative Pureview camera on the Lumia 920 Windows Phone.

How do the specs shake out? It may surprise many but the HTC One is fitted with a 4MP camera that has a dedicated next gen image chip and f/2.0 lens. Yes... "just" 4 megapixels.

But wait, there's more!

The HTC Titan is a sleek, attractive Windows Phone that still remains to be a favourite among many consumers. Now that both the 8S and 8X are readily available in multiple markets, how does one spice up the Titan to prolong (or refresh) its beauty? A fresh paint job, of course. This is also perfect if you've somehow managed to accumulate a few scratches on the back plate.

HTC has mocked Nokia's PureView technology and the rumoured 41 MP super-camera phone that's set to be unveiled this year. While HTC has produced hardware with great optics (the HTC TITAN springs to mind), we can't help but wonder if the company can outdo Nokia's progress. So what's the deal? Forget Megapixels. HTC is talking Ultrapixels.

HTC has released the financial report for Q4 2012, which shows the company continuing to struggle in the competitive mobile phone industry. We've previously covered HTC's down spiral through recent months, but it's set to continue despite the launch of new hardware, including the Windows Phone 8X.

Orange Israel is supporting Windows Phone by stocking the Lumia 920, Lumia 820 and HTC 8X. All three Windows Phone 8 handsets are available from the website and are listed with accompanying contracted plans. It's positive to see how the platform is successfully expanding.

When it comes to the Windows Phone 7.8 OS update, the one that brings you those fancy new Live Tiles, there are those who are officially getting it and those who have to DIY.

Unfortunately for Nokia Lumia 710 owners on T-Mobile, you may have just been kicked to the second category.

HTC has revealed on Twitter that no plans are in the pipeline for Windows Phone 7.8 to be released for the HD7. While this is no confirmation that the company will never update the HD7, it's a shame there's nothing for consumers who still wield the handset. Sporting Windows Phone 7, the user experience is still butter smooth and rich, but everyone wants the latest and greatest, right?

Here’s an interesting twist: An HTC Windows Phone design is evidently being reused for a new Android phone. Yes, after a few cycles of having it in reverse it appears now that HTC will take their highly praised 8X design and recycle it for a new Android M7.

The images come via Android Police and while this is far from official (or 100% confirmed), the phone looks different enough from the 8X to be legitimate.

Gibbage Cases is an interesting home grown venture that takes advantage of 3D printing to produce a protective case for your HTC 8X Windows Phone. The cases are the creation of Kevin "Gibbage" Miller that have been designed with three principals in mind. Protection, Design and Function.

The Nokia JBL PowerUp Wireless Speaker, an accessory that's marketed by the company for its Lumia range of Windows Phones (see our unboxing first impressions), has made an appearance in a Verizon commercial. The advertisement is for the HTC Droid DNA Android smartphone, which sports wireless charging, NFC and Bluetooth for similar functionality to Windows Phone when used with the wireless speaker.

Yesterday we shared some of the advertisement data from cross-platform developer network AdDuplex. Now the full post is available on their blog and with it, much more data to comb over. In contrast with the mostly US-centric data yesterday, the blog post gives a worldwide perspective. Keep in mind, these numbers are from an ad network, the most popular Windows Phone ad network of its kind, but still not official numbers from Microsoft. That said, it’s still fun to look at the graphs and get some insight to the Windows Phone ecosystem as a whole.

New Windows Phone usage data has been released from cross-platform developer network AdDuplex, which supports both Windows Phone and Windows 8. The data reveals Windows Phone 8 climbing up to 20 percent of the platform marketshare, with previous versions of Windows Phone taking the remaining chunk.
