Roll out the red carpet for Windows Phone 8

Rumour is that Microsoft maybe ready to launch Windows Phone 8 as early as September. We certainly know that both Nokia and HTC are prepping to show off their new shiny Windows Phone 8 toys around that time. Could it be that Microsoft are going for a full launch rather than just simply an RTM and device previews at the end of next month? We’d hope so, but it's just a rumour.

The guys over at pocketnow seem to think this might be the case after getting -what they say appears to be- a legit memo from an MS partner with a specific launch date.

When T-Mobile finally announced the Radar 4G, one thing that was missing was a firm release date. We knew it cleared the FCC and we've seen it videoed already, but all we had for a time-frame was "Holiday season".

Well, consider this your clarification. The HTC Radar 4G is set to launch on T-Mobile on Wednesday, November 2nd--just under 30 days from now. Price is a sane and expected $199 on contract.

Of course, we have a feeling that a lot of you will be griping about the lack of a proper HD7 successor--notably the Titan missing from the lineup. Sadly, this launch lineup adds nothing to that disappointment, although we have to admit, the Radar 4G is a very nice phone. In fact, we're going to advise a lot of you to at least play with it in the store/get a hands on before you outright dismiss it, because its screen and build quality are some of the best we've ever seen--no joke.

File this all under unconfirmed/you've heard this all before/we like to torture thee:

From the above Tweet, word has it Verizon employees are starting to receive training on Windows Phone 7--which makes sense as their next step with their forums being cleaned out and the Best Buy listing. So we wouldn't be surprised if we start hearing a bit more about such events over the next few days...

The other thing is we're hearing about a May 12th date. Once again, we've had many, many dates in the past and we really have nothing to show you that this is real this time, but if you believe the stars are aligning for a launch, Thursday May 12th may be your day. Or it might not.

You may now all remount your tin-foil hats. Thanks, @ThePhilFletcher and anonymous, for the info

Back in November, we covered the confirmation of the HTC Trophy coming to Verizon early this year. Earlier this month we posted some information pointing to a launch on March, 24th.  Now we are seeing offers on the Verizon website that details an offer for Microsoft Employees that expires April 1, 2011.  It may be an indication that the Trophy isn't too far away from hitting the shelves.

The offers for Microsoft employees (lucky) seems like a very attractive deal indeed. One would simply contact Verizon and extend the service contract for a further two years, then you will receive $100 in billing credit (per line) on your account. Verizon would then email you as to when the Trophy arrives onto the network and for a fee of $199 the phone is yours, which is coupled with free case and vehicle power charger.  Then to sweeten the deal further, Microsoft employees will be reimbursed the $199 cost by Microsoft.  This is likely an extension of Microsoft's "free phone program" for employees.

The device, as previously reported, will be featuring the NoDo update (though not the latest), quadband and is said to have 16GB memory, but is the HTC Wildfire counterpart for WP7. I actually bought this device for my partner for £300, so this deal is a real catch for eligible employees.

Thanks Kiel for the tip!

We've heard that the Verizon HTC Trophy is on the cusp of release--we know it's in tester hands, has a NoDo update (though not the latest, whatever that means) and we've heard that "end of March" was the time frame for release. Of course we also heard, though we expressed skepticism, that June may be the date as well.

Well good news, as things look to be sliding towards the end of March, specifically Thursday the 24th. Yes, in just under two-weeks time, Verizon will reportedly begin stocking and selling their first Windows Phone device, which is a global phone to boot. Featuring a 3.8" screen, 16GB of memory and a 5MP camera, the phone should be more than adequate for Verizon users.

The email above comes from our sister site Android Central, who got their hands evidently on a Verizon/third party vendor email. It is noted that "Launch Dates Are subject to change", so anything is possible. But we think Verizon will have more to say at CTIA in Orlando in a few weeks (yes, we'll have people there for coverage). We also expect more info to start pouring out about this phone about....now?
