It looks like Nokia got a new talent agent because it has once again seen one of its phones get a walk-on role on a TV show. This time around, it's the cyan Lumia 800 in the BBC series Cuckoo, starring Saturday Night Live alum, Andy Samberg. Not only was it featured on the show, but it also looks to have gotten it's very own close-up.

It looks like Windows Phone has another celebrity admirer out there. Jessica Alba was recently spotted in the wild happily sporting a cyan Nokia Lumia 900. Windows Phone, most notably the Nokia Lumia 900, has started making its rounds in Hollywood circles of late. Last month, it got a close-up in the CBS Sherlock Holmes reboot series "Elementary."

It's certainly not the first time Windows Phone has cropped up in the media world. The HTC Titan partied with .fun in the video for their summer blockbuster "We are young" (around the :24 mark) and Nokia got crunk with Flo Rida in his "Wild ones" video (around 1:04).

We've seen the Nokia Lumia 900 Windows Phone drive nails but how tough is this Windows Phone? Sure it has Gorilla Glass and a solid, polycarbonate unibody but can it stand up to freezing temps? Temperatures hot enough to bake cookies? How about falls from a moving car?  How about instead of driving nails Lumia 900, you tried to drive a nail into the Lumia?

CNET TV's Jeff Cannata took the Lumia 900 out on a torture test to see if anything could beat it. While it survived the falls, freezing temps and oven temps there was one test that did the Lumia 900 in. Even though the video ends in tragedy, it's nice to see how tough the Lumia 900 is.

The Nokia Lumia 900 as seen on Elementary (CBS, 2012)

We haven’t had too many reports sent in from readers on Windows Phone TV sightings, so it’s refreshing to see one for the Lumia 900.

CBS is set to launch their new show called ‘Elementary’, which evidently is a modern US-based take on Sherlock Holmes. Starring Jonny Lee Miller as Holmes and Lucy Liu as Watson, the pilot airs on September 27^th though you can watch some clips online now (we haven’t checked Hulu yet).

Nokia has painted a Peugeot 107 in Lumia colours following a tweet from Damien in Wexford, Ireland, who stated that he’d let the Finnish Windows Phone manufacturer add something extra to his car for a new Lumia 900. This was an odd request, but one Nokia simply couldn’t pass on. 

Not only does it provide free advertising for the Windows Phone platform and the Lumia family of smartphones, but it also engages the social community with another "wow" marketing stunt. 

Over the weekend, to recognize the improvements the Windows Phone Tango Update delivered to our Nokia Lumia 900 cameras, we held an impromptu photo contest. The only limitation was your imagination and that the photos needed to be taken with an updated Lumia.

We received a fantastic number of entries and a lot of quality photos. The winners were drawn at random to receive a $50 Gift Card to the Windows Phone Central Accessory Store.

We gave you a sneak peak a few days ago of the AT&T-Nokia update for the Lumia 900 which features and OS update (‘Tango’ build 8779) and new firmware (build 12223) and now that update is live for all to download (or should be very soon).

Starting today, plugging your AT&T branded Lumia 900 into Zune Desktop should prompt you for an OS update, which will then walk you through the short process. A hard-reset is not required and users will not lose any information.

Can it be improved? Yes it can.

If you’re a regular reader (and listener) of this site you know by now that myself and fellow camera-enthusiast George Ponder have been…harsh…on the AT&T Nokia Lumia 900’s camera.  We rated it as one of the worst we’ve used in quite some time (though not as bad as Dell’s) and it often prevents us from using the phone as our daily driver. The Titan II though easily blows us away.

We’ve staked our position that it’s the hardware that is the problem on the 900 and while we still believe that to be the case it does appear Nokia has finally figured out how to best optimize its software. Of course we’re talking about the un-released Tango OS and firmware update which we detailed yesterday.

For the last 24 hours we’ve been pouring over the camera, snapping pictures in different environments and we have come to this conclusion: this update dramatically fixes the Lumia 900’s camera…
