Design and innovation is hard. And a lot of times, those in the industry tend to arrive at the same conclusion, even if designers took different paths and they weren’t watching the competition. Such is the case when two things look 'inspired' by each other. But all too often accusations of "copying" abound when in fact, it was more a meeting of general design trends.

The Zeitgeist of Style, if you will.

In other words, we’re not accusing Apple of anything here except maybe of not being too different than current fashions. (It's cool, Apple. You don't always need to lead.) What we are saying is that these two “technology things" look very familiar. Kind of.

The Lumia 610 to get a successor?

According to The Verge, Nokia plans to release two more Windows Phone 8 devices, code names "Zeal" and "Flame" in early 2013. The "Zeal" is rumored to be a mid-range offering and will sport a unibody design and will be "Zune-like" in its appearance. We're not exactly sure what that means, but it consider our interest officially piqued. The Zeal will have a 4.3-inch display and will feature a 1.0GHz dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM, 8GB of storage, and a microSD slot.

Though it is most likely Vimeo, Instagram is said to be coming to WP8

Instagram has been confirmed to be heading for Windows Phone, according to a report by The Verge. We've previously managed to enjoy third-party alternatives due to no official app being available for Windows Phone consumers, which is until the Instagram team decided to destroy all hopes by denying developers the ability to include upload functionality into their apps. We've continued to sit tight and hope for a speedy arrival of an official offering.

Nokia is working on a separate version of its City Lens app with plans to release it for new Windows Phone 8 devices – the Lumia 820 and 920. We previously touched on Nokia’s augmented reality (AR) app earlier this month when the company took it out of beta for current Lumia generation Windows Phones.

In an official blog post, we’re told Nokia is working hard at adding ‘more features in the Windows Phone 8 version.’ With the latest version of Microsoft’s mobile OS coupled with advances in Nokia’s in-house technologies, the company is able to continue to make the augmented reality experience on Lumia smartphones more realistic.

Introducing the Nokia Lumia 920 with PureView Technology

It was a sizeable day for Nokia, Microsoft, ourselves and consumers yesterday as we saw Nokia take to the stage and unveil the Lumia 820 and Lumia 920 Windows Phones. The shiny new Lumia 820, announced yesterday by Nokia

The Lumia 820, Nokia's mid-range Windows Phone 8 smartphone, was announced yesterday at the company's press conference in New York. We're still awaiting confirmation on which Windows Phone(s) carriers will be getting, but some light might have been shown on Verizon's plans for Microsoft's mobile platform.

A photo was sent into Engadget of a terminal showing the Verizon Device Management System. According to this listing, Verizon will be sporting a "Lumia 822" - possibly a carrier branded version of the announced handset (much like the HTC Arrive with Sprint). While it's not the Lumia 920 that many were hoping for, the Lumia 820 does pack a number of intuitive features and improvements over the previous generation of hardware.

Windows Phone Central's Photo Gallery from the Nokia Windows Phone Event

It has been a busy morning with all the news coming from Nokia's Windows Phone event.  We've seen the introduction of the Lumia 920, Lumia 820, the 8.7 megapixel Pureview Camera, floating lens technology, Nokia's Maps adding augmented reality, a handful of new Nokia exclusive apps, and a new Lenses app for the Windows Phone camera.

Then there's the Nokia Fat Boy charging pads, the JBL Bluetooth Speakers, and even Steve Ballmer popped in to say hello.  Our own Dan Rubino had front row seats for todays event.  While he's busy interviewing folks and snatching some hands on time with all that has been presented, we thought we'd share some images he's already captured.

Nokia walked us through the capabilities of the Lumia 920 camera, which lead to some impressive results. Implementing PureView technology into the Lumia Windows Phone, Nokia has been able to create something special for when moments occur that require a quick shot of a camera.

The f2.0 aperture lens ensures enough light passes through to the sensor and floating lens technology provides image stabilisation with the shutter being open for longer. We're eagerly awaiting the release of the Lumia 920 to finally venture outside and snap some shots.

It looks like Nokia still has a few more exclusive apps for their Lumia Windows Phones to release.

Entrance by AOL, the app appears to be an all-around media/pop-culture/movie/music app that even features augmented reality for finding movie theaters around you. In addition, you can watch movie trailers, listen to music (including full-length albums), stream more than 60K radio stations and you can evidently pin just about everything to your Start screen.

Nokia has released another short film on YouTube to further tease Windows Phone fans of tomorrow’s event in New York. Titled ‘Nearly There!’ the film shows a young lady explore the realm of shoes, or rather the colour selection available.

Much like the previous video we covered that hinted at augmented reality, this new clip is believed to be showing off the array of colours available for Lumia Windows Phones. The Nokia range of Windows Phones have sported a variety of themes, which has given the Finnish manufacturer a personalised edge against other platform OEMs.

One of the new Nokia devices running Windows Phone 8

Earlier we saw some renders of the supposed Lumia 820 and now it looks like we have another contender to deal with as numerous real photos have been passed on.

Showing with OS version 8.0.09735.09, the device being handled looks to be a real enough and bares resemblance to the 'Phi' we've seen previously though sources say this is the '820'. It is currently not known if the devices are one and the same or different.

The prototype device sports the now common button layout in keeping with the Lumia 800 and 900 but with the new Windows Phone 8 logo near the bottom...

The Lumia 920. Form factor too small for PureView?

Renders of both the Lumia 820 and Lumia 920 have been leaked by EvLeaks. If these images are accurate, then we can at least expect what's about to be announced by Nokia.

Samsung has already unveiled its ATIV S Apollo Windows Phone, we've yet to see anything official from HTC or other OEMs, and there seems to be more interest in what the Finnish manufacturer can come up with to top its already established Lumia line of Windows Phone 7.5 devices.
