The only way the Windows Phone ecosystem can really grow is if there are handsets available to consumers in every market around the globe. So it’s a good thing that Guerrero Mobile, a distributor for Mexican telecommunications company Telcel, announced they will soon be carrying the Nokia Lumia 820.

We've just received word that the Lumia 710 and 800 are on sale in Mexico City on Iusacell. Sales teams are reportedly pushing both Windows Phones positively with recommending the devices as "excellent phones". Booths are available in-store for customers (and potential buyers) to experience interactive demos.

We previously covered both devices heading to the country in the week just gone. The Lumia 710 is available at Iusacell from just $320 (pesos) on 24 month plans while the Lumia 800 is priced at $729 (pesos).

The Lumia 710 is also featured on the Iusacell home page. It's positive to see the carrier in Mexico actively promoting Windows Phones, both online and off.

Although China seems to be grabbing all the headlines today for Windows Phone, the move into Latin America is also as important for the fledgling mobile OS.

We've mentioned in the past that Nokia would be bringing their Lumia series to Mexico this Spring and it looks like that schedule is being kept. Users can now pre-order the Lumia 710 and Lumia 800 on Movistar.

The Lumia 710, a budget-orientated smartphone with a 3.7" ClearBlack display and 5MP camera is perfect for those who are new to the smartphone game, while the Lumia 800 offers a more premium experience with its polycarbonate design, 8MP camera and AMOLED display. Both phones look to be competitively priced on Movistar with a $0 purchase for a 24 month contract (although the 800 has a higher-end contract to meet that requirement).

For more information, head to Movistar's page to sign up and learn more. Thanks, Victor H., for the heads up

Nokia Windows Phone confirmed for Mexico?

Coming straight from the mouth of a Microsoft employee Omar Aviles (LinkedIn) comes word that Mexico, at some point, will be getting a Nokia Windows Phone.

The news came about a comment in regards to a contest/promotion that Microsoft Mexico is having aka the return of the 3x1 contest whereby you have to publish three apps by November 4, 2011. At least one of those apps must feature some new Mango functionality, as that just makes sense. In turn, you're eligible to win 1 of 30 new Windows Phones direct from Microsoft--sounds pretty good.

But which phones could you win, asks Giovanni in comments? Aviles responds (translated):

"LG are teams that are upgradeable to handle (all registered developers APP HUB can update your Windows Phone and Mango), we will also have Nokia equipment but the winners have to decide if they want to wait until they are available in Mexico."

So that seems pretty cut and dry. And while we don't have a firm date, our friends in Mexico should be pretty excited that they too, shall be touched by the Nokia phone gods. Thanks, Luis Jaime G., for the tip!
