Mother always said life was like a box of chocolates. If you shop around you’ll find older, seasonal selections for a cheaper price. Giving you some extra money for the rest of the date. Or something like that. Same applies for smartphones, if you shop around you’ll get some sweet deals for a phone that isn’t old – the Nokia Lumia 928 on Verizon.

Verizon Wireless has the Lumia 928 listed as available on its online store. The new flagship Windows Phone from Nokia is listed for $99, when taken out with a two-year contract. The white version of the Lumia 928 is ready to order, while the black will start shipping on May 20th.

Developers have a hard time getting word out about their work, especially since the platform is still relatively young. Here in the UK we have the Windows Phone User Group, headed up by Matt Lacey (@mrlacey). The monthly meetings enable developers to showcase their apps and / or work in all areas of Windows Phone. We tag along each time to offer more support for developers and to see what's new in the community.

It's a perfect opportunity to get involved and also to meet ourselves for some coverage on this very website. This coming Monday (May 20th), the group is heading to Nokia's new offices in Paddington, London. We encourage all developers to register, come along and demonstrate their work to the audience. As an incentive, there's a special prize on offer too for the best app. Who doesn't want free promotion these days?

Gartner has published an interesting report, which details numerous points. The first is Nokia falling to position 10 in the first quarter of 2013. This is out of all mobile phone manufacturers (Samsung remains first). While Windows Phone is increasing its share and sales, Nokia has still yet to experience a surge that will replace the sheer volume of units the company used to ship.

Nokia has updated their filter list on #2InstaWithLove app with the "Pureview" filter.  Likely in honor of all the news coming out of London.

The app, exclusive to the Lumia Windows Phone lineup, allows you to take photos, apply one of a handful of creative filters and then automatically adds the hashtag #2InstaWithLove to the photo, for sharing on your favorite social network.

Nokia has announced the Lumia 925, the next flagship in the manufacturer's Lumia line of Windows Phones. We already know the device is heading to T-Mobile in the US, but what about here in the UK? Several carriers and retailers have all revealed plans to stock the new smartphone. We're looking at Phones 4u, Carphone Warehouse, Vodafone, O2 and Three.

We told you earlier that we’d do an unboxing and give you our first impressions of Verizon’s new flagship Lumia, the 928. The device is due any day now on the carrier for $99 on contract and while it’s not the sexiest Lumia we’ve handled, as Han Solo once quipped: she has it where it counts, kid.

As fans eagerly await for the Warner Bros. film, Man of Steel to be released, they're now able to download the official app for Windows Phone. Nokia has struck yet another exclusive deal and Man of Steel is currently available on Lumia hardware only. So what's the app all about and should you be interested?
