Nokia has been able to build important relations with developers to bring apps to the Windows Phone platform, and Lumia hardware in particular. But just how important are said partnerships to the handset manufacturer and Microsoft's mobile platform? The company has Bryan Biniak, VP, Global Partner and App Development, who takes care of apps that are developed for both Asha and Windows Phone.

Nokia has published a new video that shows off the Lumia 620 and how it can handle high levels of sound while recording. Much like we demonstrated with the Lumia 920 at a previous Nokia event in London, the company can pack some serious microphones inside its Windows Phones that help produce quality footage, especially when sound levels are higher than usual (concerts, etc.).

We’ll just leave this here with little comment (warning for language, may not be safe work, yadda yadda). If you didn’t see Jeremy at Samsung’s Unpacking of the GS4 event last night, well consider yourself lucky. (You can see the original teaser here for reference.)

Evidently, Thom Starks had a little fun by showing us which phone little Jeremy really prefers with hilarious results.

It's already known that both Nokia and Microsoft need to get the word out about Windows Phone. Not only to adults and the teens, but also attracting an even younger audience. We've already seen the power of Kid's Corner in Windows Phone 8 and how it offers useful functionality for parents to create a sandbox for kids to enjoy the smartphone experience safely, but what about those who own their own mobile phone?

Today here in New York, Samsung finally pulled the sheet off of the Galaxy S4, their next big flagship Android phone for 2013. Due at the end of April, the phone looks almost exactly like the S3 save a few minor differences, but it’s the guts and software that make this a killer device. It will launch on a massive 327 operators in 155 countries for complete global reach.

We’ll spare you all the details of the S4, though it does feature 2GB of RAM, an eight-core Samsung Exynos 5410 running at 1.8GHz, a triple-core PowerVR SGX 544 graphics chip with a massive 2600mAh battery. Oh yeah, it also has a swanky 5” 1080P Super AMOLED display at 440 PPI and various sensors, including Infrared gesture, temperature and humidity sensors, which while gimmicky is still really neat. Finally, it sports a 13MP rear and 2MP front camera, with some new "innovations" like two-way shot.

We briefly put it up against our Nokia Lumia 920 in a video and while this is far from a controlled “versus” battle, you can at least get an idea of how Samsung’s beast looks against Nokia’s.

Nokia is one of those brands that has a dedicated fan base. Look no further than this ‘unboxing’ video of the Lumia 920 from filmmakers International House of Badman. It’s a tongue-in-cheek video that puts most other unboxing videos to shame for its sheer production value.

A shot taken by the Lumia 928 was uploaded to Picasa by a Nokia employee (according to the associated Google+ account). What's interesting is that the photo was quickly pulled, but remains available thanks to @evleaks where the shot was published again. We're still attempting to create a collage with pieces of information on the Lumia 928, but evidence of the Windows Phone in action is certainly pleasing.

Gameloft is running an interesting Facebook contest where those who use the social network and own an account can enter by "liking" the Nokia, Gameloft and Xbox pages, as well as answering a simple question. The prizes? Only some Microsoft Points and a Windows Phone 8 device, which looks to be the Lumia 820.

Nokia may be set to hop onto the train to join both Apple and Microsoft in signing patent deals with Android manufacturers. Nokia has put forward two patent infringement claims against ViewSonic and it's been confirmed that both parties are willing to strike a deal. This will prove to be yet another blow to Google with a hardware partner validating Nokia's claims that its platform has IP infringement issues.

Canada based Health Pack Games, the team behind titles such as Chicken Story 2 and Monster Stack 2, has been interviewed by Nokia about the company's switch to the Nokia Ad Exchange (NAX) programme. Things are starting to heat for Verizon users as more and more information is coming out about the ‘Laser’ Lumia 928, an updated version of the Lumia 920. In our forums, an employee of Verizon (‘Honestabebread’) posted that “Easter time” was the release window for this phone, and now the Verge is claiming that the phone is coming in April.

The phone will reportedly feature an aluminum body (versus the current polycarbonate) and as a result be thinner and lighter than the current 920. In addition, the flash will be upgrade to a xenon-LED flash combo. Other features include a 4.5-inch OLED display and support for simultaneous voice and LTE (SVLTE) with a look more resembling a Lumia 720 (squared) than the current 920.

The Lumia 928 passed through the FCC way back in February, meaning the device should be cleared for release soon.

When Nokia started their campaign to help let the Instagram know the dedication of Windows Phone users, many were quick to point out that Lumia owners did not represent the whole community. Indeed if such a campaign is to be effective, we would need to enlist presumably everyone to help post photos with the #2InstaWithLove hashtag on Twitter and other social networks.

Nokia has evidently seen the light as that app is now available for all Windows Phones, including our Samsung ATIV S and HTC Radar.  Of course, there was nothing unique to Lumia hardware that prevented the app from running on other OEMs so this was a simple change in the Store for Nokia.

George Monbiot of The Guardian has crafted an interesting piece on smartphones (and general electronics) that are constructed in the blood of people from the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. Gold, tantalum, tin and tungsten have been fought over by rival armies and militias for years. The war has killed millions through displacement, disease and malnutrition.

But which of the smartphone companies today are making sure their hardware is built using minerals that are gathered through legit and conflict-free? It's believed that Nokia has done more than most manufacturers with its Windows Phone and Asha line of products, but there's still room for improvement across the board, according to Monboit's report.

Today in Germany, the District Court of Mannheim ruled that HTC was not guilty of infringing on two patents owned by Nokia, including one involving the use of Google Play on HTC Android devices. The patent (EP0812120), which nebulously covers a "method for using services offered by a telecommunication network, a telecommunication system and a terminal for it," was one that HTC called the "flagship patent" in the suit that alleges over 45 intellectual property violations by HTC.

Burton and Nokia have always had a cozy relationship. They’ve teamed up in the past with accessories, sponsorships and more. Some recently notable activity between the two include sponsoring Roope Toneri, an insulator case, and the Burton app for Windows Phone. The app just got a new update that helps make it even better.

We’ve already showed you some of the cool camera features you’ll get with this lens app, but now you can do so much more. If you update to version 1.1.1 you’ll get two main features: the ability to track slope side data and track friends on the mountain.
