Puzzles

Splice is a trying little game for our Windows Phones. Splice is a rubik cube styled puzzle game (just in 2D) that has you maneuvering puzzle pieces around to connect two arrows of the same color with the puzzle piece segments.

There are over ninety-five levels of play with three degrees of difficulty. Splice starts out almost too easy but after the first few levels, the game begins to really test your concentration.

Doors is a challenging puzzle game for your Windows Phone were you are presented with a wide range of puzzles. You have to solve the puzzle to open the door and advance to the next level.

Doors has sixty-five levels of play, all that can be re-played. The puzzles range from mathematical puzzles, matching games, and hidden keys type mysteries.  The game doesn't have a lot of flair but the puzzles can be challenging. All totaled, Doors isn't a bad option if you're looking for a game to pass short bits of time with.

Marblie: Marbles Reinvented is fairly simple, yet challenging Windows Phone puzzle game. Marblie has you moving marbles around the game board to match six marbles of the same color in adjacent tiles.

Marblie is a nice puzzle game with a casual pace. While it may lack a lot of bells and whistles, the game is challenging enough to keep things interesting.  Overall, Marblie: Marbles Reinvented isn't a bad way to pass the time.

Dragon Portals is the latest Windows Phone 8 game from 10tons that is a little on the scaled back side when compared to other games the company has recently released to the Windows Phone Store.

And that's not a knock against Dragon Portals because it's a fun, challenging puzzle game to have. You are tasked with freeing dragons from the holds of dark magic. You do so by solving puzzles to free them before they crash into the ground.

Dragon Portals may not have the oddity of King Oddball or the shoot 'em up action of Boom Brigade 2 but it's a nice addition to the Windows Phone gaming library nonetheless.

What's the Word? is a nice Windows Phone puzzle game to pass the time with. What's the Word? presents you with four pictures and you are tasked with figuring out what common descriptive word they share.

I have to admit the puzzles start out really easy but slowly pick up speed and can be somewhat challenging.

While some of us face the possibility that there might not be a new Xbox Windows Phone game release this week, Nokia owners should have no such complaints. Not only did Nokia and PopCap/EA just publish the vastly improved sequel Bejeweled Live+, two more Nokia Xbox exclusives just popped up! From the license lovers at Electronic Arts comes the board game adaptation Yahtzee, while PopCap has blessed Windows Phone at last with their fast-paced puzzler Zuma’s Revenge.

Super Voltage is a Windows Phone puzzle game where you race to solve puzzles.  It reminds me a little of the Windows Phone game Metro Pipes but instead of racing a clock, you're racing pesky little monsters.  Super Voltage features Koo Monsters who, when they reach the bottom of the screen, drain you of health point.

You are tasked with solving a series of puzzles and as you do, the Koo monsters are slowly working their way down your Windows Phone screen.  However, as you complete one of the puzzles, super voltage electricity power is unleashed that destroys any monster lying within it's path.  Again, if the monsters make it to the bottom of the screen, you lose health points.

Super Voltage is a fun, fast paced game that is full of challenge. It's a nice addition to the Windows Phone gaming library.

Captain Pirate is an odd little game for your Windows Phone. Odd not so much in a bad way but remember the old board game Operation? Where you had to have a steady hand to extract game pieces (body parts of sorts) from a cartoon character? Touch the edge of the game board as you extract the game piece and you lose.

Captain Pirate reminds me of that game.... well, in a way.

With Captain Pirate, the goal is to maneuver a pirate's hook to buried treasure, avoiding dangers and collecting gold coins along the way. Touch/bump into any of the dangers and you lose a life. Lose three lives and the game's over.  Captain Pirate is a decent game for your Windows Phone but probably more appealing to the younger (much younger) crowd.

The developers of the Windows Phone game Pirates Assault have released a new game for our Windows Phone, Hamstas 'n Kitties.

Dagari Studios has developed a rather unique game that draws a little from Tetris, a little from Bejeweled and maybe a dash from Bubble Birds. With Hamstas 'n Kitties you are presented with a playing field with assorted colored hamsters. Your goal is to create combos of three or more of the same colored hamsters. The gathering of hamsters continue with a row of the furry critters dropping from the top of the screen periodically. If the collection of hamster's reaches the top of the screen, game over.

Collapsticks is an addictive Windows Phone game that you may find hard to put down.

The puzzle game has you collapsing stacked match sticks in an effort to drop a set number of matches off the bottom of the screen. But the fall isn't exactly straight forward and with each puzzle, the match sticks has to be dropped in a particular order. Otherwise you're stuck with too many sticks.

Graphics and animations are nice, game play challenging and the only downside may be that you'll eventually run out of levels to play.  But with 120 levels, that may take some time.  Collapsticks is a nice addition to the Windows Phone gaming library.

Tile Path: Windows Phone Game Review

Tile Path is a simple yet enjoyable puzzle game for your Windows Phone. It has a bit of a Tetris feel to it but unique enough not to feel like Tetris. The goal is to place colored blocks on the gaming board and create a path between similarly colored markers. When you connect the two points, the blocks disappear, you earn points and new markers are generated. There are a few gaming modes but in general, if you run out of moves the games over.

From gaming controls to graphics, Tile Path doesn't have much flash to it but that's not to mean the game is without challenge. If you're looking for a challenging way to pass the time, Tile Path is worth a try.
