robots

I'm not sure if you would consider the Windows Phone game Endless Robot Street a game or a stress reliever. It's listed in the Windows Phone Store as a game but plays more along the lines of a street reliever.

With Endless Robot Street you play the role of a giant robot who goes down the street smashing everything in sight. While the game keeps track of your destruction as career stats, there's no in-game scores or any way you can lose. Still, there's an odd sort of attraction to Endless Robot Street.

Steel Champions is a game that brings boxing, in a first person perspective, to your Windows Phone. The game has a Japanese Anime feel to it with nice graphics and animations.  The boxing matches are fast paced and challenging.

However, a somewhat muddlesome user interface may hold this game back.

The Windows Phone game Titan ,as opposed to the Titan Windows Phonewas recently updated to version 1.5.2 that addresses a few bugs and stability issues as well as tweaking game play just a little.  Story boards now can be skipped, damage modifiers on higher level weapons have been increased and a few other adjustments have been put into place.

Titan is a space aged platform game for your Windows Phone where you control a Titan robot and battle hordes of enemy robots, turret guns, tanks and other rascals.

Windows Phone Game Review: Robots from Mars

Here's a simple game for your Windows Phone that has a lot of potential but a decent amount of room for improvement. Robots from Mars is a 3D platformer styled game that has you controlling a robot across the Mars' countryside.

Along the way you have to use your rocket boosters to navigate over obstacles.  Your robot is also equipped with a weapon to help defend off any Martians that may appear.  The 3D graphics are nice and gives the game a little bit of a retro feel.  Robots from Mars is a decent game for your Windows Phone but still has some room for improvement.

SmartBot mini: a Windows Phone robot

Remember when we first spoke of WPBots, a website dedicated to taking Windows Phone (among other platforms) to the next level? Well, they are on the way to creating Skynet with the SmartBot mini prototype.

This robot will cater for every Windows Phone size, including the massive HTC Titan. The SDK allows the robot to be controlled with seven movements and uses the camera API to bring in the following functionality:

  • Face tracking
  • Object tracking
  • Face recognition
  • Light tracking
  • OCR
  • Tag reading (data matrix, bar code, etc.)
  • Edge detection for maze resolver
  • Line follower

There's even more than this which is set to make any hackers day. Head on over to WPBots for more detail. A video demo is to be uploaded this week.

Windows Phone "robot blog" launches

You know what we need? How about an awesome site dedicated to hacking Windows Phone hardware so that it can connect to printers, keyboards and robots. Yeah, robots!

The site is filled with all sorts of tutorials and videos on how to add a serial port, add some programming for interfaces, make your phone interact with Terminators, etc. Okay, that last one hasn't been posted yet, but c'mon, it's just a matter of time.

No doubt this is for the Radio Shack crowd as these aren't necessarily easy if you don't have hardware hacking or software programming skills (that's us on both accounts), but for those who tinker and want to push their Windows Phone to the next level...head here: www.wpbots.com
