Sale

A few days ago I sat down and reviewed one of my favorite news consumption apps, Pouch. The elegant Pocket client for Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8 brings a clean and uncluttered reading experience to your favorite mobile devices.

The copy of Pouch for Windows 8 used in last week’s review was a private beta, not yet available to the general public. In anticipation of the upcoming software update, the developer has dropped the price of Pouch by 50% to $1.49.

Yesterday we mentioned the Microsoft Surface RT being on sale at Staples for $399. Just in case you don't have a Staples near you, it might be worth a trip to your local Best Buy.

We were tipped by Windows Phone Central reader Austin that he showed the sale priced pictured above and Best Buy matched the $399 price for the 32GB Surface RT. No guarantees but it's worth trying to save a few bucks through the marvels of price matching.

Thanks, Austin, for the tip!

Nokia has continued to cut jobs and sell assets, absorbing some extra cash and slashing costs. The company has now sold its Peltola campus in Oulu to domestic business space provider Technopolis. The deal comes after Nokia sold and leased back its headquarters in December. The Oulu campus has gone for €30.5 million.

Have you been thinking of getting the Nokia Lumia 810 on T-Mobile? You should as it's a swell phone (our review will be coming this weekend). If you have thought about it, tomorrow may be your day as it looks like T-Mobile is on the cusp of unleashing their Black Friday sale.

Heading to their sale page, you can clearly see the Lumia 810 going for $0. That's roughly $150 off the original price (T-Mobile has it for $99 but that is only after a $50 mail in rebate, so it's actually $150 up front).

Nokia has cut more jobs from its manufacturing division, with the subsequent closure of the company's plant in Salo, Finland. The shutting down of the Salo factory also represents the final door being locked on Nokia's manufacturing presence in Europe - the Windows Phone OEM now makes use of locations outside the EU.

Windows Phone 8 is almost upon us but before that we still have Windows 8 launch to get through. Looks like retailers in the Singapore are going to use that weekend to start pushing the HTC 8X in a promo sale.

The offer is set to last for three days only from 26th to the 28th of October, this is way ahead of the official launch on 3rd November so this could be one to look out for.

"Outsider! Outsider! We have your apps! "

Here at Windows Phone Central, you most likely know the developers at Liquid Daffodil—they make Outsider, glƏƏk!, Cowlick, CumulotweetusCalendar Search and more (9 apps in all).

In fact, Liquid Daffodil just launched two new apps recently called Nate & Frenchy’s Random Axe and Nate & Frenchy’s Life Coach. Both apps are entertainment apps where you place your thumbs on the screen to either randomly generate trivia, numbers, tweets or get some life advice. With bold graphics and a bit of chuckle, Nate & Frenchy will surely keep you amused.

Nokia has today announced the pink Lumia 900 exclusively for AT&T in the US. The device is identical to the Lumia 900 we know and love, which is already stocked by the carrier in white, black and cyan. We've continuously looked at hints of a possible pink / magenta Lumia 900, and this announcement will please those who wish to stand out from the crowd.

As with all Lumia devices, customers will be able to take advantage of the app collection, which is exclusive to Nokia Windows Phones. Unfortunately there's no word on availability outside the states, though we'd imagine the manufacturer will launch the colour globally.

With Windows Phone 8 just around the corner, we expect many to hold onto their hard-earned cash for more advanced and future proof hardware. But should you choose to go for the magenta Lumia 900, then fear not as Windows Phone 7.8 will be on its way later this year.

On May 28th last year, following months of hard work, stress over designs and attempts to locate every possible bug, we released v1.1 of the WPCentral app into the marketplace (v1.0 was rejected due to some trademark issues). In no time at all, as a result of the incredible support of you, our readers, we were the number 1 paid app in the news & weather category.

Since then we've steadily released new updates, adding new features, refining the layout and of course listening to you, our trusted reader.

To celebrate our 1-year anniversary, we're happy to report that the WPCentral app is completely free for the next 24-hours (as opposed to the super-low $0.99 it normal fetches for). That's right, if you couldn't rationalize spending the dollar before for the app, your frugal-ness has paid off. Now you can unleash the whole app for $0 and lock that price in forever (depriving poor Jay of some hard-earned lager).

We just want to thank each and every one of you for your support over the last two-years (more so if you count WMExperts)--we really do appreciate it. And don't worry, we have a lot more coming your way both for the app and the site (cough, mid June, cough), so stay tuned and keep sending us your feedback.

Grab the official WPCentral App for free here in the Marketplace. Remember, this is only good for 24-hours starting now.

Microsoft hasn’t announced it yet, but we’ve caught wind of a mobile Xbox Live Easter sale. Or it could be a celebration of the Lumia 900's release - who knows? The following games are currently only 99 cents each:

This is easily the biggest and best sale on Windows Phone Xbox Live titles ever – seven titles is a lot, and they’re 66 percent off instead of the usual 33. Which games will you be picking up, awesome WPCentral readers? I probably had the most fun with Burn the Rope, but you can’t lose with most of these.

We don’t know the dates of the sale, but it’s likely to run at least through Sunday. This post will be updated should we spot an official date.

Nice to see a non-Nokia commercial showing off the Lumia 800 for once, or rather a carrier actually having a little faith in the hit phone.

TELUS is having a sale till the end of the month (we mentioned it earlier) and the 800 is one of those qualifying for said discount. While the song is unforgivable we do rather like the commercial and find it effective.

The Canadian teleco started selling the phone March 2nd and so far the response seems to have been strong.

Thanks, BugZau, for the tip!

The Canadian carrier TELUS currently have a relatively large sale going on on their latest smartphone offerings. The special offers, that will run until the end of March, includes a Windows Phone - the Nokia Lumia 800. Should you be interested in purchasing the handset on TELUS, you'll be pleased to know that its price has been knocked down to just $25 (from $50).

Unfortunately all the eligible handsets require a 3-year ($50 /mo minimum) contract, but for $25 the Lumia 800 is a bargain. You can -of course- buy the 800 contract free for $529.

Source: TELUS; thanks @jonnybravo_ for the heads up!
