To close out this exciting, Windows Phone 8-filled week, The Nokia Blog managed to get their hands on a few more pics of the Finns crashing Samsung’s party this week at IFA in Berlin.

Previously we had what seemed like a single person with a sign but as it turns out, it was a small crowd of at least 6 people with placards and smiles. What’s more, you can tell Samsung’s security was not to impressed with the brazen display, pulling the signs from the Astroturfers.

While silly jesting, it still pales when compared to what RIM tried to pull off with Apple back in April but clearly Nokia has a bone to pick with Samsung.

Just a few days ago Samsung announced the new ATIV S Windows Phone and today, we are seeing it available for pre-order. Granted the 4.8" HD Super AMOLED screened Windows Phone is available for pre-order in the Netherlands. But it's a start.

PDAShop.nl is listing the 16GB version of the ATIV S for € 549 (about $690 US) with the delivery date listed as unknown. Subscription services are available through T-Mobile Europe, Vodaphone and other local carriers.

As the fallout from the Apple v Samsung case is being realized, there is a lot speculation as to what that decision will mean for the likes of Microsoft and Windows Phone. Opinions range from it will big big for Microsoft to it won’t matter for them at all.

The Korea Times, a paper with a mixed reputation on these matters, has gone on record in saying that Samsung is looking to form a stronger relationship with Microsoft as a result of the Apple decision. But is it accurate?

Nokia has humorously welcomed Samsung back to Windows Phone, thanks to a photo published to Twitter by Doug Dawson, Media Relations Head for Nokia. In the image, one can see a banner being held that reads "Samsung: Nokia welcomes you back to Windows Phone...". Samsung announced the ATIV S Windows Phone today at its IFA 2012 presentation in Berlin. The current-most powerful Windows Phone features a similar look and feel of the Galaxy S3 (which isn't necessarily a bad thing), not to mention impressive entries on the specification sheet. 

Sporting a 4.8" HD Super AMOLED display with GorillaGlass 2, dual-core 1.5Ghz CPU, 2300mAh battery, NFC, with 16GB or 32GB for storage (with SD support) it's certainly got a enough power for Windows Phone 8. But does the device interest you as a consumer? Be sure to participate in our poll.

The ATIV-S from Samsung featuring Windows Phone 8

Looks like Microsoft wanted to break the news of the new Samsung ATIV-S Windows Phone 8 device as Ben Rudolph just posted his thoughts on the new phone, being unveild today at IFA.

The specs for the device are exactly as reported earlier with the addition of GorillaGlass 2 and either 16GB or 32GB models, both with expandable storage via microSD…

Word is already on the street that Samsung is looking to unveil Windows hardware at the closely approaching IFA (official website), which will be held in Berlin this week (yes, we have Mobile Nation's people there for coverage, no worries). This will more than likely include Windows 8 PCs and tablets, as well as a potential Windows Phone 8 (Apollo) device or two. 

Through SamMobile we're now aware that Samsung has trademarked 'Ativ', which could be used as branding for future hardware families. Ativ Tab, being the most conspicuous, looks to be the potential name for Samsung's venture into Windows 8 tablets. There is a high probability this will become reality as we're not likely to see the manufacturer alter its Android arsenal. We hope to find out more information in the next few days at IFA.

We're already aware of the result for the Apple versus Samsung US patent battle, which left Samsung with a $1 billion bill. It really couldn't have gone worse for the smartphone manufacturer who has interest in both Android and Windows Phone (the penalty phase returns on September 20th though). Google remained fairly quiet on the front, but has released a statement that details an expected stance on the court results.
