The Nokia Lumia 521 continues to spread across the country. After a quick and successful start on Walmart's and Home Shopping Network's websites, the Lumia 521 will be coming to Walmart brick and mortar stores this Saturday, May 11, for a measly $129. The Microsoft Store will also start selling it this weekend.

Less than two weeks after that, on May 22, the Lumia 521 will start appearing on shelves at T-Mobile stores and on their website for less than $150 with qualifying plans.

Yesterday we mentioned that T-Mobile had announced that the Nokia Lumia 521 would be available through HSN.com on April 27th as a part of HSN's Innovation Weekend.

Well... apparently someone over at HSN.com started the weekend a little early. The T-Mobile Lumia 521 is now available over at HSN.com for $149.95 with free shipping and bundled with a car charger and screen protector. Flex payments of $37.49 are also available.

As a follow up to our earlier report about the T-Mobile Lumia 810 becoming unavailable for purchase (unless you want a refurb), we can confirm now that it has indeed been EOL’d (end of life) on the carrier.

It is instead being replaced by the not-so-bad Lumia 521, which also gets a release date for Wednesday, April 24th.

The other day, we doused some cold water on the rumor that the Nokia Lumia 810 on T-Mobile would get a firmware update to enable its LTE radio for that carrier. Seeing as the chipset is a SoC Snapdragon S4, it’s typical for such setups to have features there but not enabled (either by request, OEM choice or lack of proper APIs)—in other words, it’s totally plausible.

Reader of the site jgbstetson emailed the president and CEO of T-Mobile about the update and had his question pushed to the right people in the chain of command (much like Nokia, evidently you can get a response from the bigwigs at T-Mobile).

With all of the news this morning we let this one fall through the cracks: T-Mobile has picked up the Lumia 520, but as a 521 variant (they always have to be different). There’s no official date or pricing for the device, but we don’t believe it will be too long before the carrier picks it up, probably for $0 on contract or below $200 off contract.

The Lumia 521 fits in with T-Mobile’s plan to move towards non-subsidized phones, where the users buys their own flat out and then pays monthly for the service. In order to do that though they presumably need some good, but affordable deices: enter Nokia.

When it comes to the Windows Phone 7.8 OS update, the one that brings you those fancy new Live Tiles, there are those who are officially getting it and those who have to DIY.

Unfortunately for Nokia Lumia 710 owners on T-Mobile, you may have just been kicked to the second category.

If you’re a Lumia 810 owner, T-Mobile just made your day as the carrier has revealed to Engadget that a simple software update will enable LTE 4G support on the device.

That’s the good news. The bad news is there is no timeframe on when that will happen.

Good news for those of you on T-Mobile US with their exclusive Lumia 810 Windows Phone 8 device, starting today at 10AM PST/1PM EST, users can begin to get OS and firmware updates for their phones. This follows a few weeks after T-Mobile rolled out a similar update for their HTC 8X lineup.

The update will bump the OS to version 10211 aka 'Portico' and the firmware to 1249.

T-Mobile and HTC have had quite a back and forth recently regarding the Windows Phone 8 “Portico” update (build 10211) We first heard about the 8X update just a few days ago and the original intent was to roll it out yesterday, December 19th. But at the last minute, we received word that T-Mobile was halting the rollout due to some last minute "tweaks".

The fear of course was that this could stretch into weeks as Microsoft, T-Mobile and HTC work to fix whatever it was holding up the update. Luckily, the delay now looks to be have been only 24 hours as T-Mobile and Microsoft have just now thrown the switch, delivering the update to customers.
