Carly and the gang over at T-Mobile are running a new ad focusing on T-Mobile TV and the wireless carriers 4G network. You will also be introduced to America's first Nokia 4G phone, the Lumia 710.

The T-Mobile TV app comes pre-loaded on the Nokia Lumia 710 (and probably every other smartphone T-Mobile carries) and will be available tomorrow at T-Mobile.com, authorized retail stores and Target, Costco, and Wal-Mart stores nationwide.  With contractual discounts, you're looking at just under fifty bucks for Nokia's first U.S. Windows Phone.

The Nokia Lumia 710 is expected to hit T-Mobile's shelve on January 11, 2012 and will run just under $50 after contractual discounts . It will be the first Nokia Windows Phone for the U.S. Market and we've gotten our hands on one.

First impressions? The 710 is a very nice, compact Windows Phone. Feels solid in the hand and the screen looks great.

The Lumia 710 is slightly smaller than T-Mobile's other Windows Phone, the HTC Radar, separated by only tenths of an inch. The Lumia 710 has a 3.7" screen while the Radar sports a 3.8" screen.  The Lumia 710 is also very similar in size to the AT&T Samsung Focus Flash with the Flash being slightly smaller and lighter in size.

The Lumia 710 is fitted with 512mb RAM, 8GB of storage, a 5mp camera, and 1300mah battery.  As with other second generation Windows Phones, the Lumia 710 comes across as a well built, solid phone but due to smaller storage space, the lack of a front facing camera and other specs it may not appeal to everyone.

With about two weeks away from becoming reality, the T-Mobile Nokia Lumia 710 is making an appearance over at Ebay. The 3.7" screened Windows Phone is the all black model is listed as "brand new unopened".

We're expecting the Lumia 710 to run $49.99 after contractual discounts. At last check, after 28 bids, the current bid on the "out of contract" model is $565. You've got little over five days left on the bidding or you can wait just a tad longer and snatch one up directly from T-Mobile.

There is no joy in Dallas tonight.

After thoroughly reviewing the matter, AT&T has decided to end its bid to acquire T-Mobile. Even though the Justice Department, Federal Communications Commission and other industry members may disagree, AT&T still holds the position that such a merger would have been a good thing citing the need for more spectrum.  Spectrum needed to handle the growing consumer demand.

AT&T pledges to continue to be aggressive in leading the mobile revolution but took the opportunity to challenge policy makers to do their part. Chairman and CEO Randall Stephenson stated,

“To meet the needs of our customers, we will continue to invest. However, adding capacity to meet these needs will require policymakers to do two things. First, in the near term, they should allow the free markets to work so that additional spectrum is available to meet the immediate needs of the U.S. wireless industry, including expeditiously approving our acquisition of unused Qualcomm spectrum currently pending before the FCC. Second, policymakers should enact legislation to meet our nation’s longer-term spectrum needs."

The penalty for withdrawing the acquisition proposal.. $4 Billion that will be charged against the 4th Quarter of 2011. On the plus side, AT&T will enter into a mutually beneficial roaming agreement with Deutsche Telekom. So while the sale fell through, an AT&T and T-Mobile partnership may still be a possibility.

In anticipation of T-Mobile's event tonight in NYC, Nokia has posted a press pamphlet for the T-Mobile-branded Lumia 710, which will be available on January 11.  The packet includes a full spec sheet as well as some press shots.  Nokia has also revealed that the Lumia 710 will sell for a downright steal of $49.99.  It will be available in black or white, with the option to swap out the backplate for something flashier.  There is also a wealth pre-loaded apps:

We're already aware of the upcoming T-Mobile/Nokia event (we'll be there), and that the Lumia 710 is making its way to the U.S. thanks to an FCC manual, but in case there's any doubt left in some minds it's certainly clear by looking at the above image that the handset is making it's way onto T-Mobile's network. What will remain to be seen is if any other announcements will be made. Nokia is yet to hit the U.S. with a promotion campaign to the likes of what we've witnessed in Europe (especially the UK).

T-Mobile looks set to push accessories (as expected) when they launch the Lumia 710, but will you be picking one up or going with the HTC Radar?

We know next week T-Mobile and Nokia have a little shindig here in NYC going on--we'll be there for that one, so don't fret. But in the meantime, you can rest assured that yes, it is indeed for the Nokia Lumia 710.

As it turns out, the actual manual for the device that comes with the phone is now online via the FCC. Scrolling through it reveals fairly standard information, but for one, it is obvious we're dealing with the 710, due to the diagrams for the phone. More revealing though is the picture above from that manual, which clearly shows a Nokia Windows Phone with T-Mobile branding on board. Doesn't get much more definitive than that, does it?

We know everyone wants the Lumia 800 (and we don't blame you). But having played with a 710 before, combined with T-Mos network, we'll definitely be picking this guy up for daily use. But which will be better? Radar 4G or the 710?

Beginning tomorrow, T-Mobile will be pushing out an update for their HTC Radar and HD7 phones.  The update adds a boost in performance and will resolve an error that occurs when some users try to activate Visual Voicemail.  While the Radar will also get the ability to download and customize ringtones, the real winner is the HD7, which will now connect to hidden WiFi networks and gain WiFi tethering.  Some folks, however, claim that they were able to tether after the previous update.

The patch will start making its way out into the ether tomorrow and must be installed via the Zune software to a USB-connected handset.
