Three UK has announced in a press release that its LTE upgrade, which is set to arrive later this year, will be added to existing and future plans with no upgrade fee. This means that consumers on supported plans will be able to take full advantage of improved network performance without forking out extra pennies (should you have a capable smartphone, of course).

The ASUS Vivo Tab, running Windows RT, is now available on Three. The UK carrier has the tablet listed for £30.99 on a 24-month contract with an upfront fee of £199. While the price may seem slightly on the expensive side of the fence, the plan does include 15GB data allowance and makes use of the network's expansive coverage.

The Three UK Twitter team has revealed company plans to stock the Lumia 920 in the future, which is currently exclusive to EE. This follows a detailed blog post by Vodafone who have stated they intend to offer the Nokia flagship Windows Phone in early 2013. We expect both network operators (among others) to start shipping Lumia 920s when the green light for 4G is given.

The HTC 8S is now available from Three UK on contracted plans as well as Pay As You Go. Pricing starts at £17 a month with no upfront cost for the smartphone, or £179.99 SIM-free (locked to the carrier). The device joins the HTC 8X and is the company's low-end Windows Phone 8 offering, but isn't a slouch by any means.

UK carrier Three has today sent out a press release detailing the launch of the HTC 8X Windows Phone, which is stated to be available from today on the Three website as well as in-store. So just how much will we be expecting to pay for the flagship Windows Phone? The network has also launched the handset in Ireland.

Brendan Arndt from Three gives us a nice first look at their upcoming Asus Windows RT (Vivo Tab) tablet and it's looking good.

While many are wondering how WinRT tablets are going to sell in traditional markets, one thing is certain, the mobile industry is set to embrace these quickly. Unlike the Surface RT device, the slender Asus unit will come with built in support for connection to a mobile operator. The 10” device gets the once over in the following video. Make sure to read on past the break!

Three UK's sensible pricing for the HTC 8X is revealed

Three UK has what it will charge customers for the HTC 8X Windows Phone leaked. According to images published by GSMArena, the carrier will be setting a price point of £349 should it be purchased on PAYG (Pay As You Go - locked to the network). If you're up for a new contract, the soon-to-be-released smartphone can be yours from £34/mo with an up-front fee of £29.

The carrier is stocking not only HTC's flagship Windows Phone at launch, but the HTC 8S will as well. While no pricing was revealed for the latter in GSMArena's report, it'll be interesting to see how Three prices the younger sibling with its slightly less advanced specifications. As the HTC 8X is relatively affordable for what's on offer, the 8S should appeal to many smartphone newcomers once pricing is officially announced.

The UK is going LTE

UK mobile operators, communications regulator Ofcom, and the government have agreed to start rolling out LTE in early 2013. The goal is for high speed data connectivity to launch by spring, approximately six months earlier than originally planned, providing consumers with quicker speed while using Internet services on smartphones.

EE (Everything Everywhere) has already been given the green light in 'switching on' its LTE network at multiple locations across the country ahead of the competition. To the dismay of the other carriers, EE aims to have 16 cities with LTE speeds by this Christmas, providing 20 million customers with a significant increase in speeds.

Swedish carrier Three (or "3") is offering the Nokia Lumia 800 on a 2-year contract for 299 kr (about $40), but that's not all as the carrier is also bundling the 4G slim version of the Xbox 360 for free. 2GBs of data is included in the plan, and with a free Xbox who can grumble?

We've previously covered similar offers in Sweden with the LG Optimus 7, so it's good to see carriers using Lumia Windows Phones in attempt to push more out the doors. The Lumia 800 itself is a sturdy mid-range Windows Phone that sports a 1.4Ghz chip, 512MB RAM, 16GB storage, 3.7 AMOLED display (with Clear Black technology), and has access to Nokia's collection of OEM exclusive apps.

It was only last week that Nokia Germany confirmed they'll be rolling out the much anticipated 12070 "battery fix" firmware update to Lumia 800s. Now it seems as though Three UK is coming out on top with keeping customers up-to-date as we've just received notifications of an update for our Lumia 800.

The update, which was originally set for April 18th, has been confirmed by the manufacturer to be configured for a staged global release (with Singapore enjoying a premature delivery). Depending on carriers who chose to release it, the 12070 firmware update will be rolled out to new countries on April 4th, 11th, and 18th until the update has been pushed out to every Lumia 800.

After applying the update to our Lumia 800 we noticed a significant improvement to battery discharge readings. This should solve most battery life issues many owners have been experiencing. Be sure to keep an eye out for notifications on your Lumia 800s, or in Zune and the Mac Windows Phone Connector.

Have you received the update on your Lumia? If so, let us know what carrier you're with in the comments.

Three UK has announced plans to remove all 'out-of-bundle' data charges that may occur when customers go over contract data limits and to introduce new tariff families. The carrier will now cut off the Internet for customers should they hit the limit, as well as send warnings prior to inform of heavy usage. New customers (and those who wish to upgrade) will be able to take out a plan from one of the new tariff families (see above image for more details on each plan) - Ultimate Internet Plans and Essential Internet Plans.

Both new tariff families will replace all available plans sold by the carrier, excluding The One Plan and SIM only packages. The Essential Internet Plans will suit light usage smartphone owners, whereas the Ultimate Internet Plans (as well as The One Plan) will sport an all-you-can-eat data allowance.

This move is welcomed to further simplify contract browsing and provide consumers with more scope to accommodate the increase in Internet usage while on the go. Three UK has been officially awarded "UK's Fastest Growing 3G Network", and with the recent alterations and improvements made by the company, it's easy to see why.

Three UK has announced plans to implement "4G" on their network, but instead of putting LTE on trial, for now the carrier is favouring DC-HSPA (the DC means dual-channel). In theory customers should be able to witness speeds up to 42Mbps, and with Three's "unlimited" data plans this will certainly excite smartphone owners.

Three currently operates a HSPA+ network that offers speeds of up to 21Mbps and is set to roll out DC-HSPA this coming summer. What's interesting to note is the timing of this announcement with the international Lumia 900 (supporting the "almost 4G" standard) being announced at MWC this week - coincidence?

Three still plans to introduce LTE through testing in the future so we'll happily take DC-HSPA for now.

The Nokia Lumia 710 (our review) is now available for purchase from both Three and Vodafone in the UK, with contract prices starting from just £20. Should you wish to buy the handset outright, Three is offering this option for £199 - not a bad price for a Windows Phone Mango handset.

The Lumia 710 packs a 1.4 Ghz processor, 3.7" screen, 5MP camera, 8GB storage, and -of course- comes loaded with the exclusive Nokia Lumia app bundle. Both networks also offer the Lumia 800, should you require some extra umph.

The official Three UK Twitter account was hit with the question of whether or not the carrier has any plans for the rumoured Nokia Lumia 900. As can be seen in the screen shot above, their answer to Digixav is pretty non-specific and lacks any real detail, but they do confirm that the Lumia 900 exists to an extent.

On the other hand, the Three UK Twitter moderators could well be confirming that there are no visual indication according to their resources that the carrier will be stocking the Lumia 900, and this is simply nothing at all. We do have confirmation that the Lumia 710 is on its way to the network though.

Things have changed at Three UK, as it was only a few months ago that we ran the story of the carrier making the decision as to whether or not the company should continue to stock Windows Phones. The carrier was on the wagon back in 2010 with the Samsung Omnia 7, but has now been effectively pushing the Nokia Lumia 800 since its release. Should you be waiting for the Lumia 710 and be on Three, then you'll be happy to learn that the carrier is bringing Lumia 710 back.

Be sure to head on over and register your interest for updates.

We previously reported, back at Nokia World '11, that the Lumia 800 will be available in black only for some time across Europe, with cyan and magenta arriving at a later date. We contacted Three UK for details as to when cyan is set to be stocked and we were informed that November 28th (today) would be when they expect to be able to ship the color.

Unfortunately, Three has not updated their website yet to show that the cyan Lumia 800 is available, but The Phone House in France has. Phones4U has had the cyan color on their website for some time now, available on Orange, Vodafone, and O2 of all carriers (they had issues with Nokia regarding marketing conflicts with the iPhone). Orange has the cyan Lumia 800 listed on site, but is "coming soon". Looks like cyan will be hitting shelves soon enough for those who don't wish to have yet another black handset in your arsenal.

Three UK has announced on their blog that they're looking to stock the Nokia Lumia 800 as their next Windows Phone. This is fantastic news for those who are tied to the network and want to purchase the 800, and also for Windows Phone users as a whole. Three UK was in the news not so long ago with the possibility of pulling out on Microsoft's OS.

Check out the above video for a quick run through, and be sure to also view our coverage.

Three UK have been answering the same question about when they'll bring Mango to customers (as have all other operators globally), but instead of giving a time frame of their own or specific detail, they've continuously referred to Microsoft's announcement post on the Windows Phone Developer blog. We're eager to learn what the plans are for Windows Phone with Three, whether they're looking to drop support or not; but we can now rest easily knowing that Mango will be rolling out on their network in the next week or two.

At least we'll get the update. I can't see Three passing up on the HTC Titan; they sure love their massive 3G handsets.

Thanks to Christopher and everyone who tipped us!
