Vodafone UK launching HTC HD2 on Nov. 13?

Good news for our friends overseas. A little birdie just dropped us the above shot of the HTC HD2 in Vodafone UK's internal system, and it clearly points to a Nov. 13 launch. Frustrating, sure, that you have to wait seven more days for 4.3 inches of high-res, capacitive goodness (and we've mentioned the 1GHz Snapdragon processor once or twice, right?), but if that's what it takes, that's what it takes. Now, who's ready for some Windows Mobile 6.5 and Sense UI?

Good news for you Vodafone and HTC Touch Pro 2 users: Windows Mobile 6.5 is available (erm, and has been for a few days). Remember that you need to back up your contacts and any other data you want to save, because this is a a full-on ROM update and will wipe the phone clean. Go get the update here. LG GM750 available now on Vodafone UK

For our UK friends out there, the LG GM750 (See our hands-on) is now available on Vodafone, free with monthly plans of at least £25. Still no sign of LG breaking into the United States, though, so most of us will have to look at this from afar. [via Electronista]

Remember how Vodafone said customers can expect the LG GM750 in October and the Sony Xperia X2 in November? That was it. No actual dates attached.

But never fear: We've gotten (very blurry) word that the X2 (aka the Vulcan) is due Nov. 6. Price and plans still to be determined (or at least leaked).

Even better, the GM750 should be on hand this Friday, Oct. 2. As you can see, £25 a month gets you 300 minutes and unlimited texts, and the phone itself is free. Unlimited data will cost another £5 a month.

For us, the question remains: Will either of these phones see love on this side of the pond?

Thanks, anonymous tipster!

Sony Xperia X1 'coming soon' to Vodafone

In more "coming soon" news from Vodafone that should also mean good news for the rest of us, the Sony Xperia X1 (and Samsung Omnia) has appeared on the U.K. carrier's Web site.

Just as with the HTC Touch Pro mention from the other day, an imminent any day now hurry up already(!) release in Europe often means we're getting closer to seeing a device on our shores, too.

And the Xperia X1 is one most of us, save for a lucky few, have been waiting to get our hands on for some time now.

Palm Announces Treo 500v

I present you with an equation:

Yet Another Qwerty Keyboard Windows Mobile Smartphone +
Thicker than the competition +
No ringer switch (!) +
Tri-Band GMS and only the 2100 Band on UMTS means it won't work well in the United States +
We already gave you all the deets ourselves yesterday
=
Yawn.

Sorry, Palm. I'll give you points for trying and maybe I'll change my tune when I get my hands on one, but after all this, I still don't understand why I wouldn't get a Dash, or a Blackjack, or a Q9H (when it arrives). The Treo 500v is a big, wet kiss for Vodafone and their network, but on this side of the pond I can't say we're especially jealous. See, we had our first kiss a long time ago when the Q hit and have been smooching thin little smartphones ever since. Er, not so much smooching and holding them up to our cheeks, but you get the idea. YAQKWMS indeed.

Ok, ok, ok. I will give you points for the generous 150mb of user storage and the long battery life. Plus, nice job finally ditching that hateful Treo Athena connector in favor of miniUSB. Don't ever go back.

Palm Europe has announced the Treo 500v, a Windows Mobile Standard Smartphone designed for the European market on the Vodafone network. It should be initially be available exclusively to Vodafone customers beginning the first of October, the price is still unknown.
