Weather Flow

Good news if you’re a fan of the wildly popular Weather Flow apps for your Windows Phone or Windows 8/RT as both apps have received updates to help make the experience bettter.

First up, the Windows Phone version gets a nice bump for all of those on 7.8 and who want a fancy double wide tile. Version 1.5 now adds the ability to have Rich or Metro double wide tiles, including minimal data or the full weather cast for the week, matching the Windows Phone 8 abilities.

The team behind the popular Weather Flow app have just pushed out an update. The app was last bumped to a new version back in December, which brought some lock screen goodness. We've continuously praised the development of Weather Flow, as well as its competitor - Amazing Weather HD. So what's new in this latest release?

Oh we’re in it now. Some of our long time favorite apps are now getting bumped for Windows Phone 8 and we’re really excited about it. Weather Flow, made by Gergely Orosz (who’s also behind such the amazing Cocktail Flow and AppFlow) just hit the version 1.3 marker and it’s primed for the new OS.

The new update, weighing in at a sprightly 9MB, has newly updated graphics, fixed Live Tiles, lockscreen wallpaper and a few other goodies on board. Check our video hands on and see what we think.

UK newspaper The Guardian has taken five Windows Phone to the side to query them as to how they view the development process on Windows Phone and why they view the platform worthy of both time and effort. The results were extremely positive.

The five developers included 7digital (music service), Addison Lee (private taxi hire firm), IndieSkies (Kaleidobooth), Escapist Games (Star Chart), and Distinction (Weather Flow). The short conclusion drawn from the results was praise for the OS itself and how apps can be quickly prototyped and subsequently released. The only downside was the developers' restraint over download and sales figures.

We've previously looked at how the developer interest in Windows Phone has continues to remain at a high level, while the likes of RIM falls rapidly. So this shouldn't be too much of a surprise that established developers are singing praise for Microsoft. Head on past the break for more juicy details.

Looking for a basic weather forecast app? Take a look at the Windows Phone app Weather Flow. The app is from the developers of AppFlow and Cocktail Flow and is a visually appealing app that presents you with current conditions and a five day forecast.

Throw in an hourly forecast, two design layouts and an interesting live tile and Weather Flow is a basic, very nice looking weather app worth considering.
