We’re still here at Microsoft’s BUILD conference and during a talk on ‘the Microsoft Design language’, it was clarified during the Q&A session that Metro apps are now called “Windows 8 Store Applications”. Yeah, that’s a mouthful.
Microsoft’s Will Tschumy answered a question from the Verge’s Tom Warren on the matter and revealed the name to a laughing crowd. Clearly a room full of developers wanted to know what to call this design philosophy and they certainly got their answer.
To show its support for developers and the ecosystem's future, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer announced at the company's BUILD event today that all attending developers will receive a gift - 100GB storage on SkyDrive, as well a brand new Surface RT tablet with Touch Cover.

Lost in the fuss over the launch of Windows 8 news we overlooked this the other day. Angry Birds in space is now available in the Microsoft Store.
Can you be an “app store” without at least on version of Angry Birds being present? If that’s the yard stick then many will breathe a sigh of relief to see the game pop into the store right from launch day!

In case you were at work or preoccupied, you can now go back and re-watch the Windows 8 and Surface RT demonstrations and announcements from this morning. That’s the good news.
The bad news is this is still in Silverlight and you have to manually rewind back to the 1:17:45 mark (or 3:33:00 for Surface). And sorry for those scroll bars but you can blame Microsoft for that one. Hopefully Microsoft will have a YouTube version up later in the day for the rest of you living in a non-Silverlight world aka probably most of you. (You can also watch it on Microsoft's site here).
Watch after the break...Thanks, Marco300, for the tip
