Microsoft has published the Windows Phone synchronisation tool to the Windows 8 Store. This app enables consumers to plug in their Windows Phone 8 handsets and add / remove media to and from the device.

Music, video and photos can be imported from the connected Windows Phone to the windows 8 machine (and vice versa). One can find quick links to Windows Phone content (including apps and games), as well as quick-glance information representing how much storage is currently being used.

Microsoft recently updated Xbox Extras but unfortunately it created a severe issue where the user was unable to log into Xbox live.

Good news is here for those that like to play with their mini-me while on the move, the app has now been bumped to version 1.5 and we’re back on track.

Google has announced that its Android event, planned to be held this coming Monday in New York, has been cancelled due to severe weather concerns. The move comes just after Microsoft has created buzz with the launch of its Surface family of Windows RT tablets (Windows 8 Pro Surface hardware still on the horizon).

The developer of ARMED! has released an update for the title, which is now available on Windows 8 as well as Windows Phone. We previously looked at the strategy game when it was bumped to version 1.6, and before that when a Windows 8 preview was available for free. It's yet another large update so let's jump into it.

New Windows Phone 8 handset from Huawei?

Well, well, well. Look what we have here, a mysterious handset that's reportedly manufactured by Hawaei. The manufacturer has yet to fully open up into the Windows Phone market, though a number of leaks have been previously covered by the news, including ourselves. So, what are we looking at in the alleged photos?

Microsoft is set to hold an event on October 29th for Windows Phone 8 in Madrid, Spain. The company plans to unveil the next version of its mobile operating system to the world, which will pave the way for hardware to be released and carriers to begin rolling out new plans for Windows Phone 8 devices. Much like Munich, Germany and Milan in Italy, Microsoft appears to be attempting to synchronise each event to progress simultaneously.

Windows Phone brought with it Metro, the design principles that have gone on to reach every aspect of Microsoft’s product line up. For those who have a keen interest in Metro and UX (user experience) in general you may have been following the excellent series by Arturo Toledo that explores all things Metro.

Arturo is a former senior user experience designer at Microsoft, the series has been fascinating and well worth a look.

Last year we reported on Microsoft’s Canadian initiative to spur on developers to create some great apps and in the process pick up some awesome stuff.

The system is based on points and from simply registering to publishing your app, you’ll be rewarded with some credits towards a long list of prizes. Read on past the break to see what you can get.

Windows Phone 8 is almost upon us but before that we still have Windows 8 launch to get through. Looks like retailers in the Singapore are going to use that weekend to start pushing the HTC 8X in a promo sale.

The offer is set to last for three days only from 26th to the 28th of October, this is way ahead of the official launch on 3rd November so this could be one to look out for.

MetroTalk for Windows Phone v2.5

If you use Google Voice because like us, you have multiple phone numbers or you just like the free data-driven SMS feature, then you should check out MetroTalk for Windows Phone.

The app started off decent enough when it was first launched months ago but it has quickly ramped up to be one of the best, most fully featured Google Talk clients for Windows Phone—that’s specially good since Google doesn’t seem interested in supporting their own services.

As Windows Phone users, we are blessed with a handsome, dare we say it, world class cloud storage service slotted right in, SkyDrive.

SkyDrive is baked into Windows Phone, allowing all sorts of wonderful uses, uploading the camera roll automatically, storing your OneNote files or just storing good old Office documents. The team at SkyDrive have been opeing up the service and encouraging developers to take advantage of the space with new applications and services. IFTTT is just such an application and it might well be exactly what you’re looking for.

We wrote yesterday about the things to watch out for with the launch of Windows 8. One of those things was SmartGlass and Microsoft have now revealed more ahead of the launch. They have updated the Windows 8 apps and free streaming is now available for Xbox Music.

As part of a broader roll out of better entertainment services, SmartGlass aims to improve the ability to use tablets and smartphones to better control the experience with the Xbox 360.  The video goes on to show how internet sessions can be shared from Windows Phone 8 to the console, along with bouncing it back from the console to your tablet. It’s looking awesome, check out the video after the break.

It’s been two-years since Windows Phone has been on the scene and if there is one app we’re really yearning for (not looking at you, Instagram), it’s Hulu. The app has been available on Xbox 360 for sometime and we use it daily, so it’s with great joy we see it’s now available for Windows 8.

The RT app will run on Surface tablets and of course Pro devices. It’s very metro influenced and the Hulu team even tossed together a demo video of the service (it’s still not available yet in our Windows 8 Store). The app will come pre-loaded on Acer and Sony Windows 8 devices although anyone with Win 8 can just go and downloaded it to the store. Combined with the recently released Netflix app (also gorgeous) and Windows 8 will have some great media services out the gate.

But what we’re really wondering is of course when will the Windows Phone 8 app land? Hulu now has two of the three systems in place, so is it too much to expect them to release a phone version on October 29th? We sure hope not because boy will that be an odd omission. [Note: Embedded video is on Hulu, so you probably can't view it mobile]

Once again Nokia is going after a certain demographic with their latest exclusive app: L'Wren Scott (www.wrenscott.com).

The app is quite unique in that it allows you to check out photos and videos from L’Wren’s fashion shows, behind the scenes info and where you can purchase her pricey creations.

Yes folks it’s finally here, the week that will see Microsoft launch Windows 8, spearheading its massive 2012 product launch schedule. It’s keystone of the ‘Three Screens & Cloud’ play and this is where we see how it’s all going to shake out.

The pre-orders for Surface have started and even run dry in some regions, invites to the various launch events have gone out and now it’s time to put all the cards on the table. With such a wide ranging spruce-up of the entire product line from Xbox to Windows Phone, we’re in for a wild ride. Windows 8 will be at the centre of these launches, not just because it’s Windows but because with it we will see a whole host of services light up to enable the entire eco system.

The official uTorrent Remote app now available for Windows Phone

uTorrent (www.utorrent.com), now owned by BitTorrent proper is a free and now ad-supported torrent client that is used by many people out there today. And although there are plenty of third-party apps for the service out on Windows Phone, it’s still nice to see the platform getting officially recognized through a dedicated client.

The uTorrent Remote app allows you to connect to your PC or Mac remotely to manage your bit torrents from afar. No, it’s not a full torrent client to run on your phone—something for which we don’t see too much practicality for—but it is a powerful tool for those of you who rely on uTorrent’s automatic RSS import feature and more powerful options.

Seems like the Windows Phone 8 party is growing larger by the day. Invites are now reportedly going out for an event down under.

In the usual style of such an invite we get postcard landmark shot with details, Sydney Harbour Bridge, the date is set to 9am October 30th.

Looks like Nokia might be set to have a big announcement in early November for Russia, perhaps to showcase the Lumia 920 Windows Phone.  Or maybe the Lumia 820?

Not much is said about what’s to be expected but the invite does reveal some clues.

Nokia is rightly pushing photography as the big draw for the next generation of Lumia devices. The Lumia 920 has seen a barrage of OIS video and night photography tests. So it doesn’t leave much to the imagination when we get an invite with a girl taking a photo and a bat in the background. Not too subtle a reference really but we get it.
