We previously looked at Nokia's new wireless charging stand for vehicles back at Mobile World Congress. The company is back showing off the accessory today but is also using the Lumia 925 to demonstrate a dock app that is activated through NFC. We took a few minutes to run through what this app does and how the overall package will help consumers while driving.

If you've been on the fence about getting a wireless charger for your Nokia Lumia Windows Phone, have we got a deal for you.
PayDeals.com is offering the Nokia DT-900 Wireless Charging Plate for $29 (shipping is free). They only have the charger in black and the deal will only last until May 7th.
You’re missing out if you have a Windows Phone with the ability to charge wireless and you’re not using it. But it’s probably in the comfort of your home or office where you’re enjoying it day-to-day. And that’s probably because you’ve invested in a wireless enabled charging pad. Go out in public and you’ll have a hard time finding businesses that offer them.
What about those partnerships Nokia made companies like Virgin Atlantic or The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf? Jessica Dolcourt shares her experience after finally seeing wireless charging in the wild.

Do you reside in Australia and own a Lumia 820 or Lumia 920 Windows Phone that was purchased between April 1st and May 31st of 2013? You're eligible for a free Nokia wireless charging package! For the Lumia 920 owners, a free wireless charging plate is available (worth $69.95), while Lumia 820 owners can enjoy a free wireless charging shell and plate combination (worth $109.90).
If there’s one thing people really like about their Lumia 920s and that is underappreciated, it’s the ability to wirelessly charge them. So it’s fun to see forum regular and video guru Nisse Tuta show us how to improve upon our nightstands by integrating our standard Nokia wireless charging plate.
The process is not that involved and only requires a few tools for the job, but it is something you’ll want to take your time with and plan out accordingly. Personally, we think this project came out quite nicely and makes us wish for more furniture that is Qi-ready.

Ready for something cool? One of our favourite booths here at MWC has been the Qi wireless charging booth, it’s small in comparison to some companies but it’s showing off a few devices that sort of define the term ‘gadget lust’. With Nokia announcing two new Lumia devices on Monday that both have wireless charging capability, the vision of “wireless charging everywhere” is becoming ever closer.
You’ll find a full titillating gallery after the break, and we’re also going to call out a few of the devices specifically that piqued our interest. That first image up top though you might recognise, it’s the Tylt Vu which we covered just over a month ago when it was up for pre-order. Coming in several striking colours (although we only saw this yellow one), this charger would not look out of place in Nokia’s accessory line up.
Nokia isn't just about mobile phones today at Mobile World Congress. The company is also showing off a new wireless charger for vehicles. Should you use your Lumia 920 (or other Windows Phone) in the car for navigation, etc. you may well be interested in a wireless charging unit that will provide juice to your device without cables.
The Qimini (pronounced "Chee-mini") is a new wireless charging concept that would see consumers carry around a small charging station with their laptops for use with a compatible smartphone - the Lumia 920 or Lumia 820 (with supported shell) in our case. Acting just like the Nokia (or equivalent) wireless charging station that's plugged into the wall, the Qimini will power a smartphone without any wires.
As we’re the largest Windows Phone site around, you could imagine we get asked a lot of questions. Some are bizarre, some are just rants asking us to fix the OS (we wish we could!) and some seem silly at first but do make you go “hmmm...”
Such is the case with this scenario: You toss your beautiful Nokia Lumia 920 onto the Fatboy wireless charger to get some juice. But you also have a USB AC adapter standing by...what happens if you plug that in? Will it charge off of both, making it “go faster”? Or does one take priority over the other—and if so, which way?
Wireless charging is the future. We’ve been using it on our Lumia 920’s and Verizon branded HTC 8X for a few months now.
Once you start using it cables can’t help but seem antiquated. It’s only in a few smartphones right now, but will only become more and more mainstream as new devices and accessories support it. There’s that deal Nokia made with Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf to outfit coffee shops with tables that support Qi wireless charging (also Virgin Atlantic has a similar deal). We’ve got great accessories like the Nokia JBL PowerUp speaker and an upcoming one from iLuv to charge your devices sans wires. Now here is one more sweet looking accessory to help liberate you from cords.
Moment of humble-brag: I bought a new car recently and since it’s my first new car I’m suddenly into accessories for it. Enter in ProClip, one of the top recommended companies who manufacture in-car mounts for literally everything mobile.
We had a few conversations with Johan van Mierlo, Global Partner Development Manager at ProClip at CES 2013 and truth be told their products are quite compelling for those considering a superior setup for their vehicles.
Ever wonder what all the Nokia wireless charging pad can work through? The obvious question would be "Can the wireless charger operate through a protective case?" but Windows Phone Central reader Nisse Tuta took things a bit further.
From a sock to a cooking pot, the wireless charger was put through the ringer of sorts. The Nokia Lumia 920 successfully made contact through every object except the metal cooking pot. The charging connection was even successful while holding the Lumia 920 a few inches above the charging pad.
I just wonder if Nisse had have put the Lumia 920 in the pot then placed the pot on the charger would it have worked. You can catch the full discussion on Nisse's wireless charging experiments here in the Windows Phone Central Forums.
Yesterday Toyota became the self-proclaimed first automaker to offer wireless device charging as an option in their vehicles. The 2013 Toyota Avalon Limited and Avalon Hybrid Limited will have Qi wireless charging technology included in their Technology add-on package.

Been on the fence on getting the Fatboy Charging Pillow for your Nokia Lumia 920, 822 (with optional charging backplate) or Verizon HTC 8X? If so, Verizon may have a deal on the charger that may knock you off that fence.
Wireless Charging in the Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 Windows Phones (not forgetting the Verizon HTC 8X) opens up news possibilities, especially for those who enjoy carrying out DIY around the home. Windows Phone Central reader Andre Schneider has managed to alter his coffee table to enable Wireless Charging by resting his compatible Windows Phone on top.

Nokia's 'Free Wireless Charger' page has been live for a while, but registration isn't quite ready / open yet. The Finnish manufacturer has however published the terms and conditions, which reveal exactly what will be on offer and who will be eligible for said free gear. Those who purchase either the Lumia 920 or Lumia 820 through Phones4u will be able to claim a free wireless charging plate.

Nokia has an offer open for those who have purchased a Lumia 820 through O2 UK. Free wireless charging shells are available to enable wireless charging when used with supported docks and stations. The offer is available until January 18th, 2013. Unfortunately this offer is restricted to O2 and only covers specific dates.
Update: To clarify, the Touchstone charger doesn't actually charge the Lumia 920. It just actives the charging protocol but due to a mismatch in frequencies, it does not actually do anything. In fact, as webOSNation's Derek Kessler tells us, it could even damage your phone were you to leave it on there for an extended period of time. In other words, don't do this!
The Nokia Lumia 920 (and 820 with backplate) uses the Qi standard for wireless charging. In simplest terms that means universal charging plates (as opposed to some proprietary system) can be mass produced and the 920 will work with future products. It also means that past wireless charging systems, like Palm's Touchstone charging dock also work with the Lumia 920 as demonstrated in the video above.
Looks like AT&T giving out free charging plates to those who purchase a Lumia 920 may be part of a bigger proposition. The good news come by way of UK seller Phones4U who put up a link and details on how to get a free charging plate with your 820 or 920 purchase.
The site, nokiafreecharger.com appears to be very much like the free-Lumia 710 back-cover offer from earlier in the year, whereby you purchase your phone and then apply for a free add on accessory, in this case the Nokia wireless charging plate. Details of the offer state that it will be offered from November 2 through December 31st, with the application process starting on November 16th. User should visit the site within 14 days of their purchase, punch in their unique IMEI number, fill out the application and they should have their new charging plate within 28 days.
