Tetris returns as the Xbox Live Deal of the Week, eliminates four lines at once

WP Central

Anybody remember when Tetris was the Xbox Live Deal of the Week? Those days have returned, comrades. Tetris will again go on sale for $2.99 this week, down from $4.99.

The Windows Phone version of Tetris is actually quite slick. It’s got great visuals and a fine remix of the classic Tetris theme “Korobeiniki.” There are numerous gameplay variants such as Gravity and Radical that add a bit of variety to the game we’ve all played a million times before. Some have complained about the touch screen controls (swipe left and right to steer, tap to rotate, and swipe down to drop pieces), but I find them to be natural and effective. Our review also praises the game’s stat tracking.

Tetris will be on sale for $2.99 for one week only starting Wednesday. Puzzle fans can pick it up here (Zune link) on the Marketplace.

It's Tetris, it's not a great game, I'll take it for $0.99 but, that's the most I would pay for it...

Lame repeat deal is lame.  Tetris is actually a really good game, but there's a lot of Xbox Live games, why keep repeating deals.
Might as well get Assassins Creed this week instead.  Or break down and buy Angry Birds or Fruit Ninja at full price.
Thanks Paul.

No problem, man. Yep, it's good for people who missed the last sale and bad for everyone else.

Does anyone know if this app has a Mango update yet? It's so frustrating having to start again!

Paul Acevedo says:

A Mango update is definitely coming, but it's not here yet.

Whaaaat!!!! Again??? I bought this not long ago when it was DotW, cmon guys, how about PAC-MAN DX CE as DotW or if you want to repeat something repeat GH5 or The Harvest, not an old game that probably 2 or 3 people are gonna purchase...

Paul Acevedo says:

I think a Guitar Hero 5 sale would be worse, because that game is soooo much worse on WP7 than Tetris.

Awful without onscreen keys, Tetrada was better but was pulled because it was better (the other inferiour tetris clones were not)
