Toca Kitchen and Hair Salon, two toys for Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8 (Hidden Gems)

Toca Boca is gaming studio that makes digital toys for kids that are designed to let the kids play, have fun and learn a little along the way. Toys in the sense that you can play the game without worrying about scores or time limits. The only restriction is with your child's imagination.

Hidden Gems

Toca Boca has released two of their toys in the Windows Phone and Windows Stores that allow your children to tap into their creativity and imagination in the kitchen and beauty salon. Both games or toys have plenty of features, child friendly interfaces and nice graphics.

Toca Boca has seen plenty of success over on iOS and Android platforms and Toca Kitchen was a Parents Choice Awards Gold Winner in 2012. These two titles may not land on everyone's Windows Phone or Windows 8 device but they are two good titles to add to your Windows Phone Kid's Corner.

Plus being Hidden Gems, if you leave a comment below you will automatically qualify to win a new Windows Phone or tablet.

Both Toca Boca titles are available in both the Windows Phone and Windows Store, which are essentially identical with only slight differences in layout. We'll split things up with this review focusing on Toca Kitchen for Windows 8 and Toca Hair Salon 2 for Windows Phone 8.

Toca Kitchen

Toca Kitchen is a creativity toy that lets your child explore the kitchen without making too much of a mess. You have a refrigerator full of ingredients and shelves full of kitchen equipment to prepare culinary delights for one of four colorful characters.

Toca Kitchen Dining Guests

The main menu for Toca Kitchen has options to jump into game play and a link for parents to view the about screen. You also have a settings cog (side menu bar on Windows 8) where you can mute the sound and switch to a vegetarian menu (no meat or fish in the refrigerator). Before hitting the kitchen, you will need to choose which of the four characters you'll be cooking for. You have a boy, girl, cat and a cow that you can cook for.

Toca Kitchen Refrigerator

Cooking is easy, just pick/tap on an ingredient from the refrigerator (accessible by swiping right) and it will be placed on your dinner guests plate. You can either let your dinner guest eat the item raw or prepare it with one of the many kitchen items that are accessible by swiping to the right of the screen. Just tap/drag your food item to the kitchen item you want to use.

Toca Kitchen Equipment

Ingredients include broccoli, carrots, steak, fish, eggs, hot dogs, pears, lemons and more. You even have a bundle of hay in the refrigerator for the cow to enjoy. Kitchen equipment includes a pan to fry your items on, a blender, a pot of boiling water, a microwave and a cutting board. Items can be prepared in a traditional sense (pan frying a steak) or more on the creative side (microwaving and blending a pair). There are over 180 different ways to prepare a meal.

Toca Kitchen cooking view

Whatever the method, when you are through cooking an item, tap on the character icon (upper corner of the screen) to plate your food. When you have the meal complete, just tap and drag the item from the plate to the mouth of your dinner guest. As they eat, your dinner guest will react accordingly to how good your kitchen skills are.

The educational side of things comes into play with asking your children questions about their own eating preferences as well as some of the reactions the characters have. Some will refuse to eat certain items or get more excited over other items. Toca Kitchen gives your child a chance to play and you the opportunity to teach.

Toca Kitchen is available for both Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 devices through the links below.

Toca Hair Salon 2

While Toca Kitchen will let your child explore the kitchen without making too much of a mess, Toca Hair Salon 2 will let them experiment with hair styling without traumatizing anyone.

Toca Hair Salon 2 Menus

Toca Hair Salon 2's menu is also on the simplistic side with options to jump into game play, access the parent's section (about screen) and access the game's settings. Hair Salon 2's settings include options to turn on/off the sound and save photo clips to your Pictures Hub (more on this in a minute).

You can style one of six characters and your salon has seven stations (just swipe at the bottom of the screen to move from station to station). The seven stations, from left to right, include:

Toca Hair Salon 2

  • Accessories: Here is where you can fit your subject with a nice assortment of hats, eyeglasses, and what I believe are earrings.
  • More Accessories: This next station includes bow ties, chokers or bands, earrings, and buttons.
  • Photo Studio: Care to preserve your beauty creation? Tap the clipboard to change your backdrop and tap the Polaroid camera to snap a glamour shot. You can tweak the settings to save your snapshot in your Windows Phone Pictures Hub.

Toca Hair Salon 2

  • Hair Cutting Station: Here is where you can cut, shave and comb your guest's hair. If you take a little too much off the top, don't worry. A 'grow-back' potion is at the left side of the screen that will miraculously grow your guest's hair back.
  • Styling Station: Two curling irons and a crimper are available in this station.
  • Color and Highlights: Want to add purple highlights? Or go all out and dye your guest's hair pink?
  • Wash and Dry Station: Does your guest need a shampoo? Here you can give their hair a bubbly cleaning and either towel dry their hair or crank up the hair dryer.

The user interface is simple and very kid friendly. Just tap on the item you want to use and tap on your guest to apply. Accessories need to be tapped and dragged to their destination. If you have second thought on an accessory, just tap on it to remove it.

The only downside I can see with Hair Salon 2's layout is that there is no way to remove any dye you apply to your guest's hair. Otherwise, it is a fun creativity toy.

As with Toca Kitchen, the educational opportunities with Toca Hair Salon 2 is with the discussions you have with your children about the game. How would your child like their hair styled? What's a good look for a party or for going to work?

Toca Hair Salon 2 is available for both Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8 devices through the links below.

Overall Impressions

Toca Boca has done an admirable job of developing two games that let your children tap into their creativity and learn a few things along the way. Both titles can come in handy while on the road, waiting for a table at the restaurant or other times when you have time to kill. On top of providing an opportunity for your children to tap into their imagination, both Toca toys provides parents with the opportunity to discussion life lessons with their children. Lessons that range from food preferences to hair style tastes.

Graphics are good, interface very kid friendly and overall if you have younger children these two Hidden Gems are worth looking into. The biggest downside to these titles is that only the Windows 8 versions have trial versions. Until the Windows Phone versions receive a trial version, we recommend using the Windows 8 trial versions to get a feel for things before buying.

Last day for Hidden Gems as we go on hiatus for the next week or so! Don't worry as we still have a few more big apps to cover in detail. In the mean time, if you missed our previous Gems, make sure you read those and leave a comment!

We'll announce the winners of each post/contest after our next batch of apps. The only rule to enter is leave a constructive comment (doesn't even have to be positive) about the app we're talking about. Winner is chosen at random, so long as it's a real comment. Contest is open worldwide!

roguecroce says:

I love the idea of the hair salon app-solutley fabulous... Both games aren't cheap though at £2.99 & there's no mention of any of the dreaded in app purchases which is a license to print money in my opinion.

Jazmac says:

You guys have been burning the candle at both ends so you have my permission to take a few days off.

Sorry for replying to your comment Daniel,I couldn't findmy own previous comment since it's lost in these 250 comments and I'm late :p I think you wouldn't mind because you want us to help the devs so if the devs read this article, they'll have a good chance of reading my comment(which might be useful to them) since I'll go in-depth and in detail about their game.

Like I have already said,I know that writing long reviews will not increase my chances of winning anything,I'm doing long reviews solely to help the devs,I hope no one minds scrolling through my comments :p

NOTE:-Both these games were played on Windows 8.1,not Windows Phone 8.1

TOCA HAIR SALON 2

  • First impression and general user experience.
  1. Download size is 33mb which is extremely good for a game/app which has pretty good graphics and a lot of media content.Awesome.
  2. The splashscreen is kinda cute but it's slightly long, glad to find out that I could skip it with the spacebar button though ;)
  3. The app ran very fast and fluid on my W8.1 lappy,no problems here at all.
  • Things I like about this app
  1. It has very good and cute graphics, definitely something kids would like.
  2. The background music is good as well.
  3. The amount of things you can do with your "patient" ;) Just wow! :D
  4. The simplicity. As it is meant for kids,it's a good idea not to make the menu screen complicated.Good thinking, devs!
  5. The tiles,all tile sizes supported on W8.1! (y)
  6. Taking the picture of your customer, quite a basic need for such an app and I'm quite glad they didn't miss this out ;)
  7. The simplicity even inside the app!The barber's table is not cluttered with items/accessories,instead you can just swipe across the screens to do all these things.
  8. The realism! No,I'm not talking about the items(hair-growing potion) and the hairstyles(I made one like Goku xD ),I'm just talking about the effects. :D Try showering the person's hair or blowdring it ;)
  9. Yay!It's universal! :D
  10. This app is hilarious. Both me and my 8 year old bro were laughing at the haircuts xD
  • Things I don't like about this app
  1. No trial on Windows Phone :/ Very few people like to buy an app before trying it so that's definitely something you need to work on.Kudos for making it universal though.
  2. The first girl in the picture makes a weird sound when I click on the clock, like "Ehhh".Not sure if it's intentional or means something but it definitely sounds strange.Haven't tried it out on the other customers though.
  3. No confirmation that the picture has been saved when I take a photo.Could be useful to add a confirmation message in my opinion.
  • Suggestions for Improvements
  1. Add a trial feature for Windows Phone ASAP otherwise you might lose a lot of sales.People would like to know how the app runs on their WP before they think of buying it just because of their experience on Windows.
  2. Maybe,just maybe,decrease the price a bit,it's currently too high for me.If you can't add a trial that is.
  3. Fix that weird sound :p
  4. Add a confirmation message when saving a picture please ;)
  5. Allow the kid to change the hair back to the previous click since it's pretty hard to make the hair back to their previous state.I know it is possible with the hair growing gel but it's too tedious ;)

OVERALL REVIEW(9/10):-Definitely a well-done app that will keep kids entertained for long :D Good work devs! You rock! :D

TOCA KITCHEN(Some features might be repeating in both games so I won't write them again)

  • First Impressions and General User Experience
  1. Damn, another small 27mb download size, better than the first considering it has slightly more animations. Are you guys magicians or something? :D
  2. Yeah,it again ran very fast and fluid on my phone :D
  • Things I liked about this app
  1. Minimalistic design of the app again, good work! :D
  2. Ah!The unlimited ways to create dishes, reminded me of "Cooking Mama" I played on my cousins's Nintendo DS 5 years ago. :D
  3. The realism.I liked the way the fish fried and the way I boiled the meat.Made me pretty hungry.
  4. The assortment of people(and animals :p ) who could eat your food!Though you could replace a cow with something more interesting, how about a DRAGON? ;) :D
  5. The sounds and expressions of our to-be fed customers are quite good and realistic.
  • Things I didn't like about this app
  1. Points 1 and 3 from the previous review ;)
  • Suggestions for Improvements
  1. Make the door of the fridge and the cooking utensils on the right more accessible.Had a hard time figuring out what to do with only a cat sitting in front of me but that's probably my own stupidity. :p
  2. Add more cooking utensils!Could definitely do with more cooking utensils. ;D
  3. Instead of just a dotted line when cutting the food and when frying it,I would like more animations like actually cutting it with a knife or flipping a saucepan or  maybe a spoon to do more things instead of just using an unseen mouse click and swipe ;)
  4. Could do with more food options as well, the more the merrier ;)
  5. Add a trial feature to WP ASAP,but don't decrease the price of this one though,it deserves 3 bucks ;)

OVERALL REVIEW AND IMPRESSION(9.5/10):-

This game was definitely more enjoyable than the previous one for me at least. And no,I'm no Gordon Ramsey and I have 0 interest in actual cooking but I actually liked this game!On the other and darker side though, this game could do with more contents added in future updates. It definitely needs more :D

Ok,so people, take a deep breath now,my review is over and you can scroll down to see more reviews instead of my long(and what some may consider boring and unnecessary) review. :P Sorry, and cheers,I'm out.Good luck with your reviews ;)

    Valkyria says:

Both games are colorful, cute and simple
The universal thingy is also a great feature
Worth every penny i spent 8/10 for such kid-firendly games

I only download toca hair salon.

It have awesome graphic but the charachters are low. Only six characters

Bring more person to barber :-)

    Yousef Kawmi says:

Hahaha two awesome games, i loved them ! so did my sister, she likes to cut and play with hair.
They both are pretty cool even tho i didn't understand the cooking one, they just say, haa ! uhmmm ! and meh !
anyway i think 2.99 for each is a bit expensive, but they worth it if you like to cut some hair or cook and feed people.

    overall 10/10 for sure !

    rodneyej says:

These games are really original.. I'll have to try some out!

    vilmusius says:

I am notr into games, but love these ones. My nephews and niece will love playing :) Love simplicity, very child friendly.

    Funny games! Nice work

    jayruguitar says:

Love these types of apps! Perfect for my three year old!

    Ronnet says:

Not sure if they should be charging so much for kids games. There are plenty of free games that are just as much fun for kids. Microsoft has a special selection for it in the store.

Amazing otimization! Runs so awesome smooth on my Surface (1)! Excelent work!

    Dadstar0410 says:

Cute games. I actually played Toca Salon on my sister's Kindle Fire, and even I admittedly had a blast playing it! It's super easy to get the hang of, and I'm sure kids would love it. Although there are a lot of items and might be confusing for children. Toca Kitchen is just as entertaining; these guys clearly know how to make children's titles.

    Edwardlb20 says:

Great games, nice graphics. Little bit confusing at first...

Very simple and a really good app for my children. Lovely animations and they put a lot effort in this nice game!

    Chef316 says:

I think I may download them! So cool to see how many apps are coming on board with WP8.1

Seems like a child's app but it can be funny

    fwaits says:

Look like fun, quality additions for the little ones.  Definitely an area I'd love to see fill out even more.  Getting the younger ones attracted to the platform lends to longer term attachment.

    ArthJar says:

Lol at the hair styles, gonna have to try this myself.

    ragazzopigro says:

Graphics for this game are amazing which will ensure kids and even adults are engaged. That being said, the phone apps should offer a trial so that people know what they are getting into.

    DVELOPinc says:

I'd like to let my daughter give them a try but not having a Trial is a deal breaker. I'd pay for them if my little girl got a try at it and liked it but honestly, she's only 4 and her attention span is almost non existent unless she really likes something.

    I I says:

The games seem kind of new. New games are generally buggy. Free trials to a buggy game is just not a good idea considering it can seriously hurt potential sales. A bad free trial experience means someone will probably not purchase it. Chances are, once sales start to slow or even drop, then they will start offering free trials to boost their client base. It takes months for a game to produce a free trial. There is work to do on the Billing, Subscription and User Account systems. This is so if you like the game, they can push your Trial Characters to a full account or so they can upgrade your account from Trial to full.

    gunjaninvit says:

A very few games out there which allow the use of imagination and don't restrict in any way(time or points or levels). Nice to see more apps coming to WP as well...

    ladydias says:

Ouch, they really need a trial version for Windows Phone. There are already so many free games for kids that buying a game sight unseen for a child who may or may not enjoy it is a no-go.

    QuentinJ says:

Another (two) gems for parents :) These two apps look like they could keep children busy for a while. These look like well made apps and definitely belong to kid's corner. It's nice to see these are universal apps so you only need to purchase them once although i find it a bit strange that the trial is only available on the windows 8 version. Since these apps are for children, i would have to ask them what the think of the app but they look fine to me.

    iamnotwhoiam says:

Toca has awesome apps on ios.. glad to see they are coming over to windows as well.

    LumiaNation says:

That's nice to know iPad isn't the only thing kids can play with

    Andrei Dorin says:

OK ill put my lil bro try this

    Juan41596 says:

They're great but would like to see trials added to Windows Phone 8. Yet they're worth it since they keep my cousins entertained.

    Tahiti Bob says:

Not for me but they'll make someone happy I guess.

    dyenieca says:

Now i can throw my APPLE through the WINDOWS. Stay with Steve.

These are free on my kindle fire tablet. Why $2.99 for Windows ecosystem?

    kurotsuki says:

Now this is a good one. My daughter definitely will likes this.

    brebo33 says:

Hmmm, a lot of 'gems' depending on your perspective.

I like the Hidden Gems series, but it seems like every hidden gem is an app for kids.

    helios_ says:

The price is high, but o think for a niche app that is fair enough. I like the art style. Steak!

    blackhawk556 says:

Lets see if this app is fun. I like to install stuff just to see how it works.

    IceDree says:

Love the option for vegetarian food only & the cat remind me of our fat cat lol
The graphics are very cool too

    Adding more kid stuff, cute.

    nitsuk says:

This is fantastic, the kids love this on their iOS devices, hopefully soon we can get rid of the iOS devices altogether once few other major names hit the Store

    ali27677 says:

The layout of app is simple and beautiful but it crashes.

    Will download looks good

    Habib Diaw says:

I like this two games, and toca kitchen remember me of cooking mama. The graphic and the sound are great, nice work.

    spectre51 says:

Seems like good games for creativity. Might have to let my daughter try. I know she would love the cooking one as she always plays with her kitchen toy set we got her.

These apps are ideal for the summer holidays perfect for my daughter...

    Juncker says:

I'm with some of the others.  No trial mode is a bit of a deal breaker.  It would have to be really popular with lots of reviews for me to trust it enough to buy it without a trial (I know, I'm cheap).  It looks like it would be fun to play with my neices and nephews though.

What's this comment got to do with the apps in question? You are suppose to make a constructive comment not something random!

    AlanTeew says:

This is really great news, the very best of kids' games come to Windows. My girls can play these for hours.

    Saibot 2011 says:

These apps may would have made my childhood a lil better....
I find that the design is confusing sometimes in menus etc. (for a kid).
But overall I'm happy with it!

    Gabriel M says:

Haha.. Quite funny game.. Only if it had Xbox integration..

    Koen Geerts says:

Not really my type, this app, but I must say that the graphics are really really smooth and candiesh. Gameplay also was better than expected. I can see kids liking it though!

    steve_w_7 says:

These games are well laid out with high replayability.

    funkyGeneral says:

I see the value in these games. Unfortunately they aren't for me in my current situation.

    joe_easton says:

Make it an XBOX game and let me use my avatar in the games; that would be sweet.  Other than that, nice, fun games.

    Xeion says:

Its funny that you say you can't remove the dye from the guest's hair. I think that is a life lesson about permanance of silly choices ;)

    KMF79 says:

I think both of these toys are awesome for their look, function and more importantly, for their ability to facilitate a dialog about such large issue as diet and personal style. I'll keep both on my phone for the little one.

    HyperKid says:

    Seems greater....!

What's with the comment man, put some effort in.

    mikefeero says:

My wife has some of the Toca Boca apps on her iPhone and I love these. Totally pump the creativity. My daughter really likes the salon(my seven year old son as well, but he wont actively admit it). Great additions to the store!

    Graham Musk says:

I'm so glad this is finally available. My 3 year old son loves this game. Can't wait for him to play it in the morning when he gets up.

    3earnhardt3 says:

I love the idea of toca kitchen, basically cooking mama for wp, but the food prep still seems too simple. The artwork is great though

    msweig says:

Might have to try the kitchen app. My daughter likes playing in the kitchen, and this might be a good travel method.

    Doom At Last says:

Artwork and animations are great, there's been a lot of work in such a simple, kid-friendly, and educational game.

    anon8649069 says:

Both apps are very easy-to-use and well-designed.User interface requires no reading and I think kids as young as 3 can navigate it.
Really awesome Kids friendly games and belong to Kid's Corner ;)
    #HiddenGems

    drvb says:

The Toca Salon game looks like it could keep a child's interest. My neice is coming in for the 4th of July, will look to load the trial from Windows up to see what she thinks, and to keep her a little busy when she tires of us adults. Wish WP had a trial too.

    Calendar updated, what's new? #OOT

Come on man why put on here about something that has no relevance to what has been asked? The whole idea is to review the apps in question not too difficult! If you have something else to talk about I would point you to the forum pages or even the article about the app you are talking about next time!!!

Very nice kid friendly look and feel and some handy features like directly saving to photos

    Trying will review later.

A really great addition to Windows Phone ecosystem. The app app is great for children's.
    -------------------
    First Impression:
    -------------------
A really nice app for kids to play with. And a nice addition to your phone, if you have children's the games are good, graphics are nicely done & animations are beautiful.
The games are also kid friendly, and easy to use. So your kids will defiantly love it.
    ---------------------
    User Interference:
    ---------------------
Game has a really simple, beautiful but fast & fluid UI making it easier to navigate through.
UX is very children friendly & Animations are nicely done.
    --------------
    What I Like:
    --------------
    • Simple & Smooth UI.
    • Kid Friendly UX.
    • Beautiful Animations, that attracts children's.
    --------------------
    What I Don't Like:
    --------------------
    • No trial in Windows Phone version.
    • No option to remove dyed hair color in Toca Hair Salon 2.
    ---------------
    Suggestions:
    ---------------
    • Add trial for Windows Phone games.
    • Cut down the price a little bit, both are a bit expensive considering these games are available on other platforms for free.
    • Add ability to share scores on social media.
    ---------
    Overall:
    ---------
Few of the quality games for children's to play with. UI is smooth, Interference kids friendly, Animations nicely done & Price while a bit high is affordable considering that it is a quality game.
All in all it's a good addition to your Kids Corner, and worth the money.

    VenumX says:

these games are awesome, my son plays them all the time and loves them... was very diffucult to make the initial purchase, but after the initial 2.99 investment there isnt any ingame money to be spent, thankfully

    Heav3n says:

The graphics are amazing. I would say it is a bit confusing in the beginning but later is quite fun. And the sound effect are really cool. My nephew will like it for sure! The only drawback is the price.

    rlasten says:

Yay for real life games. I like em.

    faustuga says:

The idea is terrific, but I really think that the Windows Phone application should have a trial... I like the fact that any kid can play this game and that the design doesn't scream "girls" like most apps of this genre. A must have for kids!

    dalydose says:

For kids?  I'm going into the kitchen! ha ha

    aleunge says:

More kids apps is great... Just wish the price is lower since don't think the kids ask that much

    BobcatRidge says:

Thanks for supporting Windows store apps with these two games for young kids.  My own kid is too old for these but would have enjoyed them.  The price seems a little high, but it is probably a good idea to start high and reduce prices if necessary in the future.

Not even a trial......so no review from me again 2 times in a row :/

EDIT:-I will download it on my Windows 8.1 laptop and reply to this comment with a review.

    kornik1982 says:

MS Calendar is updated but it crashes after I want to add a reminder even after phone restart :(

This is not even related to the article

    nwoodby says:

You can make some pretty funny styles in Toca hair salon 2.

    nosyrbllewe says:

Looks pretty good for young kids.

    buhari bawa says:

Fun safe way for kids to use scissors

    Sbob31 says:

I'll talk about the Windows Phone versions.
I don't like at all that the games haven't a free trail. How should I be sure about the quality and the features of the games if I have to pay to try them? I won't ever buy anything without having tested it.
This fact lets me give them a bad mark. Yes, they look like good, interesting games for children; but, I'm sorry, I will never buy them.

    tbalint3 says:

I have tried the Windows 8 version since it has a trial feature.

The game itself is not bad, and for kids this may be a great game. UI is well designed.

The good thing is that it is a universal app, but the bad thing is that there is no trial of the WP8 version. I can't really understand this. I only buy apps I can try before spending money on them, but probably that's just me.

    nam13 says:

My daughter loves Hair Salon on my wife's kindle fire, so I'm sure she'll be excited about it being on my phone when she borrows it. A trial version for the WP versions would be nice, though, just in case.

    teranceo says:

I tried out Toca Kitchen. I really loved the intro animations and the overall look of the game. My son loves to help cook and I can definitely see him loving this game. The audio is actually decent and the whole game just have a nice fun fee to it. The one suggestion I would have is to add a few more food items.

    bologni says:

great apps for little kids = <3

More great finds for my children. I'm glad that WPC highlights games and apps for kids, it really helps us parents filter through the fudge and find something worth while. There's a lot more to assisting children to learn than ABC's and I'm glad that some devs 'get' that.

    Fleischyy says:

Ace, the apps are superb on iPad and looking forward to having the distraction capabilities on my phones kids corner!

    omethera2 says:

Toca Kitchen & Hair Salon sounds perfect.  As a new mother like myself, I am always looking for fun & educational things to do with my little boo .

    Seems hidden.... LOL

nice simple clean graphics. looks great for kids

Excellent games for kids. I have several friends that have daughters and they are always playing with this kind of app, especially the hair salon. The kitchen game is a wonderful idea: they certainly will learn a lot of kitchen things, especially if parents also contribute and if they also participate in the gaming.

A trial version for WP is really missing... I think all games and apps should have a trial or free (limited or add supported) version, because there is no way to know if the app/game is really good (other opinions do not count because everybody has its own tastes). I never buy games/apps without experimenting them first.

    Musimaniac says:

really beautiful apps. I can't find a flaw, from the beautiful logo animation to the way the characters interact with your choices. it's really beautiful and appealing, and I can see a kid spending a lot of time just messing around and trying different things.

    MariKrajczar says:

My daughter loves the Toca salon app! she plays with it on her iPad, I will have to get the kitchen app for her too. Their apps are very fun for kids :) I guess I'll have 2 games to add to the kid corner for her now!

    saahil687 says:

    Really nice app for kids.

    BDub0817 says:

    This actually looks like fun!

Please change the background for hair salon 2 into something funny or animated if you can (it's my niece who told me that :D ), otherwise, this is a great application

My girl loves the app but I think your right and never thought of that, something in the background moving a little make it slightly more realistic

    juaanmii920 says:

I knew the app from someone I know that has it on iOS and now is on our great WP.

It has a clean UI and it's very user-friendly. Plus, kids will learn how to cook various things in a fun way. Seems like a new addition to the kid's corner.

PS. I wish cooking was as simple as in the app. *Sigh*.

    rianext says:

Man...too many of these kids apps being covered in hidden Gems...the app looks great...but i think i've spent enough for my nephew... :/ let him get busy with the rest of the apps i found for him through this...

    rizzo183 says:

I don't have any windows device. So i can't really try them out at the moment. But i have to say, the graphics look really good. And reading the article i think, even though both of them are childrens' games, i find myself (21) really interested too for some reason.

The price could be a bit more friendly though. And i hope they add the trial version for WP soon.

    hac817 says:

Wow.. This app made by day and brilliant work

    Mind numbingly educational nuff said

    yonis fuad says:

The replay value is good, but the game is not worth it's price.

    Saldatoccio says:

Interesting games for children with a clean user interface, I understand that parents would spend money on this kind of games but I would set the pricetag of those apps to 1,99$ maximum.

Why there isn't a trial version? I'd like to try it before buying it...

    AJ98 says:

wow, i just saw a video about this apps. next thing i know it came out for windows devices. amazing i lovw it. this is really entertaining game/app. i tried the free version so far i love it. it is just amazing. i just wish trial version was longer.

That Salon one is really great for children, many of them just enjoy it for hours on end. Most definitly a great app to have.

Great app for kids, the design is very nice, I would like try it before buying it.

    aamir khan7 says:

Very nice game, run so awesome! But very expensive

    jaeger_28 says:

Great apps for kids! Really challenges their creativity and imagination. Great graphics and UI. Bummer about the lack of trial version though.

    sarim_xyz says:

The Hair Salon app sounds girly. :D

    bradbamford says:

I really wish they had trial options in the windows phone store. However, after the review, they look good enough... I guess I'll put up the funds and my daughter and I will try them out.

Would def recommend them I have an 19 month old and she loves them. Good solid apps and well worth the money

    jayneog says:

I went to the link for the windows phone store and the app is showing that it is unavailable for my phone. Maybe it is the region (India) this app not permitting. Will try to change the region and download once again.
Its not a glitch... But yeah... One point down because it isn't available for all regions.

    aringavin says:

OMG Finally! I LOVE Toca Hair Salon 2!

Ok nice gameplay children in my house play these games

    Felix G says:

Well I have tested the Toca Kitchen app and I found it awefull! There is real tutorial and the animations are sort of ugly. Also I don't really see the point of this app... It definitly won't teach kids to cook...

As I said in my comment its not just about making kids want to cook its about other things like learning to choose the right things and even hand eye coordination.

    Felix G says:

But even then, they should spent more time in polishing the graphics / animations. I have a small brother and I know for sure that he wouldn't want to play this game...

    Maybe will try later

    TechnoTim says:

    Child friendly and fun.

    jpspiderman says:

Once again though the point that these should be universal apps I'd there's not much difference between them.

    wtf_aleks says:

I am addicted to this hair salon app, it's hilarious!

    Oxymoron428 says:

I actually wanted the hair salon game. I know its for kids and all, but its a pretty good time killer!

I would say I love these apps but being a bloke I cannot but I will say that my 19 month old girl loves them. Each of the apps helps her with her hand eye coordination and for that I am very thankful. The most favourite bit for her is the cutting of the hair. For me I think both apps run well and are very well built.

    FizzySignal says:

Toca Kitchen seems like a pretty cool app for kids, I think it lets them explore their creativity, and it gives them loads of options, where ingredients and utensils are concerned and I love the fact that you can choose a vegetarian refrigerator as well, it may get them thinking about vegetarianism and how that is an option to them. I think it’s a good app, because it may entice kids into getting curious about cooking and wanting to learn how to cook and make dishes, hoping it’s as fun and interesting as the app. And hopefully give them satisfaction of making something themselves in reality and in the app.
The only thing I might suggest is that you have more characters to cook from, which could be achievement based. Another Idea is once you have a creation, you have the ability to share it with Facebook or Twitter (Kids These Days   :P)
As with Toca Kitchen, Toca Hair Salon 2 is a pretty simple, but well-designed app. It’s easy to use and I like the fact that there is an undo button after you cut someone’s hair, but as George Said, it’s a shame you can’t undo the dye treatment.
The thing I would suggest for both apps, are some achievements, if a person likes the meal you feed them or the hairstyle you give them, then maybe you should be rewarded, they could either give them more things, like more food/utensils to choose from or more hairstyles or hair styling methods. Or instead of this, they could offer a rewards incentive where you can collect medals like someone liking their food for the first time or making the perfect dish for the perfect person (Cow & Hay).
Overall I think these are both two very good apps, similar to what George said, these apps are useful because you don’t have to carry around a doll or all the cooking equipment, you could have a cheap 520 or 625 for your child and they have this app to play with anywhere they go all kept in a space saving device.
Also furthermore to compliment George’s comments, I think it’s a good tool to comminute with your child, especially if they are having problems eating their food for whatever reason. It’s a good reason to talk to your child about different foods and what the problem could be.

    Rockartisten says:

If this helps today's kids to learn even the very basics, like what broccoli looks like, I'm a happy camper. :)

The moment I installed and played them, it reminded me of the yahoo games with a similar concept. I just cannot remember the names. Not sure if it was Sally's Salon or was that too another game with a similar concept? The other one I think was Diner dash.. back to these games.. the graphics are clean and neat. The games are quite hilarious and addictive. Another set of games that I can recommended to my young cousin :) Thanks

    Yousri Ahmed says:

I Really liked Toca Hair Salon and my brother liked Toca Kitchen alot :) thought I will wait for a SALE to buy the game I think it's expensive.

    Ken Xia says:

    - Hours of great enterainment for the kids
    - Merely interacting with such a creative work will naturally develop creativity in the players themselves. I really love how many ways you can interact with the hair for example.
    - Animations, graphics & interface are all done quite well.
    - Just wondering why they are cheaper on IOS than on Windows in my country...

    desilva says:

It is good to see the window store expanding and its nice to see apps for children.  I hope the selections continue to grow and the word gets out that windows phones have some great apps like the other big two.

    I Unquello says:

I really appreciate the developer gearing some games to kids. Not only that, they are fun, reasonably-priced, well-designed games. Keep up the good work!

    feraask says:

It seems like a lot of these hidden gems have been for children but in any case I think $2.99 for each of these apps is a bit much but maybe thats because I don't have kids lol. But it is nice that the windows store is expanding and a lot of the new apps being released are available on both phone and computer!

    Snoops8 says:

I think I've seen this before. Looks like something perfect for my nieces.

    guri21 says:

    Cool apps....
The Toca Kitchen is amazing and a fun filled one...... Children are surely gonna have rocking time....many many apps coming for them....
Also the Hair Cut one is also good...
The UI ,the options available are vast...
Also the matter of concern here is the non availability of trial in WP version although its there in W8.1
So will have my neighbours kid play all these on my 8.1 lappy and ask his reviews...although if he likes then he would keep asking for my lappy everytime....

    Coyax says:

seems like a nice app to keep my niece busy :)

there have been a lot of apps as hidden gems that are kids games, it would be great if there were more "adult" apps when hidden gems comes back..

    jthow24 says:

Two good apps, The first one is good for teaching kids alike to cook early on, (actually wouldnt be a bad app for myself so i can learn how to cook something good), with some updates that adds say, more food or something along the lines of that. the second app the hair salon game looks nice and neat, good idea to save the photos to photo hub. along with the first one with a few more updates the app will become better and better. its also good to see both games in unison with windows 8 and windows phone.

    Wp_Shashwat says:

So many apps for kids recently! My cousin uses my phone more than me! :P Haha.. Nice apps though.. Will surely add them to HIS collection! :D The price seems a bit high though..

Design/Fashion/Styling apps are almost a dime a dozen, but this one looks well executed.  The Toca Kitchen, however, looks really original, not only in the food options available but the multiple different ways to prepare the different ingredients.  It gives would be cooks much more variety to work with.  It'd be a game to not just see what the best recipes are for each character but the worst as well!

    barbaram says:

Ha ha, a kitchen and a hair salon!!   What a mess that could be!!

    au0840 says:

Downloaded the trail version of these apps for my daughter to play. She is 7yo. She found the games mildly assuming for a short period of time and quickly grew bored. No major issues with the apps. Simply didn't peak the interest of my daughter. Might be good for parents with younger children

    WitnessFTP says:

Great little apps. The more children rely on their imagination, the better they will be.

    Chandan Hati says:

Not available for L920 or is it a region specific app? I don't get the buy button as it says this is not available for your device. I have 8.1 on my 920 now for almost a couple of months.

    neo302 says:

My kids will love the kitchen game. Must try it out!

This app was too hard for me to play with. The UI looks like a fisher price toy. Needs more metro.

    ZuneEtunes says:

Good games for educating and entertaining children.

    upsguy27 says:

I think it would be great if they took this a step further and let you use the character you make in the hair salon in the cooking app, and possibly future apps

    scionluna says:

Last comment. Always good to see kid's games on Windows Phone. More choices for the Kid's Corner.

    darianv says:

nice apps. tried the win 8 version. graphics are bold and vivid. hair styling can get a bit confusing at first for kids. otherwise great apps.

More kid stuff, the smallies are going to be happy with WP. :P

    douglasbaiao says:

For kids? hahahaha These games have very nice and sensitive art! Very well done. It found a way to harmonize between 2D and 3D in a game that is between teaching kids and entertaining adults. More than teaching, I found it very pleasant to spend a time doing these things in these nice textures!

I visited their website and found a bunch of awesome games! Some of them have almost realistic drawings, like Toca Hair Salon Me. Can't wait for them to launch all of them on Windows, for us! Please, do this, developers!

Also, I think they should keep working on more games. They have strong potential among all of these futuristic graphics we see in most of the games nowadays. Really impressive.

    mildor says:

Excellent games, I like toca kitchen very much! Touches like vegetarian options and the ability to choose between boy, girl or animal are so cool. Toca hair salon is also a good game, a lot fun for children

For both, graphics are kind of weird but somehow characters are funny and fresh, their animations could be less static, but for kids is ok. Obviously it isn't and "everyday" game, but it is very fun for children, could be a life-saver on a long trip if you have a child ;)

seems good, but these kind of apps are totally not for me, so i'm not gonna try it & the lack of free trial for WP makes it worse. Also , it seems too costly to dive into without a trial, so my suggestion is to either reduce the price or give a free trial.
Another possible update could be to link both the games along with any other similar games they have to maybe make it like sims, where you have 1 char & guide it through the various chores.

    Ian Suarez says:

This is a cool little app to let your kids play with on long drives or while waiting in lines. I like the design of the app. It has a very welcoming feel which is perfect for attracting a younger audience, as well as their parents. The colours are also well used. Overall, great work developers. It is evident that a lot of time and energy was put into making this stellar app. Kudos!

    Toan Le says:

The two games, looks interesting, and I want to give them a try... However, for Windows Phone version there is no trial, and the price tags are actually not cheap... This is an obvious downside.

    doben says:

both apps are well made overall. i guess not having something to complete/end/finish is the whole point of the games. although I think it leaves something to be desired.

would be cool to see the guys/gals coming in the saloon and leaving happily once you're done with the cut, something like that. otherwise it'll get old pretty fast.

stuff like the cow guy not eating cow meat adds nice little touches ;)

    Joshhi says:

    Pretty useful for my cousin

    Oscar Callau says:

I have toca boca games in my ipad for a couple of year now. I was waiting for them in my windows devices for a long time, but they are now in my surface and lumia. My kid really love these apps.

The main good point are its graphics and how easy to follow are the games for kids. My only bad point is that those games are short. May be developers can provide extensions with an in-app purchase options.

I hope to see all toca boca games in windows! :-)

    drankurn says:

good, original apps though bit expensive, although i like the fact that they are universal.

Really happy to see these come to windows and windows phone.

    carlosrdd says:

I like that's it's fast and smooth. Even tho it's not for me I still hope to see toca being over all the apps. Only thing I don't like is no trail.

    Future72 says:

Hope my children will give me back my phone some day...

    ceeesquared says:

The UI is very simple and neat.  And props to the developers for making this app a Universal one.  Please add a trial version for Windows Phone

    ebin5 says:

Wonderful concept and awesome game. Perfect for my small sister who loves these type of games.nice animations and gameplay I can see the effort put by the developers into it.

Amazing Idea and Concept also perfect game for kids. Loving the idea. My Rating 5/5

    czech23 says:

Great for kids, well made apps

    SiriuS_r3d says:

Yet another nice kids game. Graphics looks good both on windows 8 and WP. $2.99 seems to be little costly. could be $0.99 - $1.99 at maximum. Please add trial version for Windows Phone version of the games. This game will be good for kids between age 7-12. Keep the games updated and add more feature. Good job developers.

App sounds like exactly what I've been looking for since my kids are wanting to "play chef" all the time now.

    Eli Whitaker says:

My constructive criticism is to have at least a limited trial. I'm not impressed by how popular an app is on rival platforms. If you want me to purchase then provide a test drive.

    sandeep208 says:

Very interesting apps ,kids enjoy it a lot.but these are costly.and a y don't developers make it supported to wp7.8 and at less cost :-D:-D

    sayedqd says:

I'm 15 and I used to let my cousin play Toca Boca games on my iPhone and one day I actually started to enjoy playing them
Whenever my cousin comes over she wants to play Toca Boca but since I had switched to Windows Phone I had to tell her I didn't have the game anymore, she left super sad but I can't wait till she gets to play on my Windows Phone now :)

    Kvad says:

Awesome these are loved by my kids

    AnubhavSingh says:

    I love this contest :)

    Hello Guys,
I read the whole review given by WPCentral. I think there's no need for anyone to write another review.
I liked both the games as it is for little kids. Unfortunately I couldn't play the game as it is not available to download on my Lumia 525 . Or maybe its not available for India . Anyway both games had a interesting topic. I think "Toca Hair Salon 2" was much more interesting than the "Toca Kitchen " since it has more fun features. I prefer "Toca Hair Salon 2" because of the feature of having seven stations for different kind of styling on hair.
Over all I totally agree with the WP Central review. I also agree that this app is gonna take a place in the minds of the little ones. Its too bad this game is not available for all people using windows phone. And the price , I think its a little high taking the game is for little kids. Anyway, nice games.
    Thank you

I have a suggestion. Add a free trial

    kindfellow says:

I lastly played it on iPad with my kid. He loved the Hair salon game a lot. Great to see it coming on Windows Phone. On the other hand, 2.99 looks expensive from general public point of view. Overall, I recommend both the games.

    Andre Blonde says:

DOn't have kids yet. But downloading this apps on the tablet. Just to see what it does. Doubt that will play it even but have enough space for the apps just to sit there. :)

    markk132 says:

More kids stuff!! I'm sure it'll keep the little ones entertained

    kiranrajplus says:

Tried both on Windows 8, great graphics and pretty fun to play. An amazing stressbuster to me, thanks.

    WaseemAkram says:

hehe . Nice and funny game . I wish it could be free.

These apps may not be useful for us. These apps are liked by girls. Yeah! My sister always plays these type of games on her tablet. But, when I showed her this game, she is hesitationg to give me my WinPhone back. So, I left the phone with her for today. She told that the graphics are really amazing than the other apps in android. She loved the Hair Salon especially, and she unleashed her creativity through many types of hair-cutsmade on her own.

First time, she has put out her intention that she wants to be a Fashion Designer. When I played these, as I am a boy, I wont like these cildish games. But, children like this a lot. As I already told, WPCentral is making plans to turn children into WPCentral readers by showing them these type of awesome apps. I noticed 4 of the hidden gems are for the kids alone.

However its a good move to see many apps on #Wp..

Finally! I emailed them a few months ago but they said they got no plan yet for WP. Used to play it on my cousin's iphone

    flexis says:

Okay, yes and no, food app looks ugly and is not funny. and the hair app is fun but not particularly nice. Minus is that they are not free

Would please kids with its fun cartoon style graphics but its not cheap .

    mkdll says:

You don't even have to be a kid to enjoy it. :P I did it, a lot. Maybe more content will make it better and keep it more interesting!

Omg.. Finally can play it on windows phone.. :")

    Rick_Air says:

Looks like I'll be filling up my phone with more apps for my kids. Seriously considering getting them a cheap Lumia of their own and just load them with apps, games, music and vids they enjoy.

    Rafid Buster says:

Looks like I'll be filling up my phone with more apps for my kids. Seriously considering getting them a cheap Lumia of their own and just load them with apps, games, music and vids they enjoy

So here comes two more reasons to let my nephews play with my +620 :D :)

    StariKletar says:

I wish those games supported more languages so my kid could play as well (i'm from slovenia).

    skc ichigo says:

I'd like to try the games first as I've never use Android or IOS before, so I don't know whether it is fun or not. Hope it is good app. However, it is universal app, it is worth to buy.

I can image that boys don't like to play a cooking/hair cutting game. Maybe a Toca Garage?
Toca Boca's apps are rather expensive.

    thegeeknme says:

They also make Toca Builder (at least for Android) which is like Minecraft... But simpler...

    Bengee90 says:

Always great to see children's educational apps hit the store. But as always, UPDATES please!!!

    aromal_tc says:

    Nice,app launches in all categories

    thegeeknme says:

+810 my kids love the toca games on the kindles... I would recommend then and say the price is fair... It's fun and encourages "Creative" play...

    allthing10 says:

I can't download both of them games on my 1020 I am from India how can I download plzz tell me some one. How can I download it

    Tirtha Tias says:

These games are like childish games. They are suitable for the girls, I guess. But I think the kithcen game will be interesting cuz everyone loves food! Nice games...

    surgat says:

Hm, most of the hidden gems are for children.

    Plaseno says:

I tried them for a few minutes, but to be honest it got old pretty quickly. Then again I'm not the target group. I really like the graphics, escpecially the facial expressions of the girls. So yeah, if I'd had a daughter I'd probably let her play that. Pretty good work.

Of course, kid games tend to get old pretty quickly for adults.

There are now a plenty of hidden gems for kids.
Want to see hidden gems for everyone from kids to teens.
It would be much better if graphics intense games are shown.

Alright! I was unwilling to buy these apps but since a hidden gem i had to buy it! :(..

    Doesn't Matter!

After going through these games both on my Phone and Laptop here is what i found:

    TOCA KITHCEN

WHAT I LIKED ABOUT THE GAME:  It has a very kid-friendly UI! Game play is easily understandable! Bright Colours (something which kids always love).! By Adding vegetarian menu the developers have done a good job.. Good thinking! KUDOS!  The graphics are decent.. Decent enough for kids! Kitchen items like blender, microwave, boiler are a great addition! Helpful for kids! THE BEST PART IS this game gives opportunity to the parents to teach there kids regarding food, kithcen equipments, cooking preferences etc. etc.

WHAT I DIDN"T LIKE ABOUT THE GAME: No trial Version! And apart from a few crashes on my phone there's nothing much to complain about the game! Afterall most of the kids apps and games are free from any bugs.. Not all but most of them! So Nothing much!

WHAT THIS GAME NEEDS: Add Trial Version! Or cut-down price. I found the character of "COW" pretty useless! Instead of cow the developer could have added a "DOG".. Add more ingredients and kitchen equipments if possible!

WRAPPING IT UP: Overall its a really nice game for kids! Helpful for kids! Helpful for parents as well! Game Play simple.. Visuals Decent.. What more can we expect from a kid's game or an app! Kudos to Developers!

    TOCA HAIR SALON 2

WHAT I LIKED ABOUT THE GAME:  Same goes with this game as well! Simple gameplay! Kid-Friendly UI! Bright Colours! Decent Graphics! The ability to "grow-back" hair is seriously a good one! Plus point for that! All those accessories makes the game even more enjoyable! The abilty to take a snapshot is quite cool! And saving it to the pictuers hub is even cooler!

WHAT I DIDN"T LIKE ABOUT THE GAME:   And here again no Trial Version! Thats disappointing! Other than that nothing complain!

WHAT THIS GAME NEEDS: Add Trial Version! Its Much needed! Add a few more accessories! Few more characters! Thats it!

WRAPPING IT UP: Overall this is yet another good addition to windows phone store and windows store! Its fun to play! And Kids will definitely love this game! (I mean Both of these games).. Kudos to Developers!

Awesome graphic and nice apps for childeren

    Jakez98 says:

This is clearly an app for kids. Nice graphics. I love how vivid and colorful the app is. The fact that it offers so much variety of interactive elements to play with really encourages kids to be more imaginative.

It's just too bad that there isn't any trial for Windows Phones. It works great on Windows 8.

    totoro0106 says:

I must say that this app is well made despite the fact that i'd rather buy real toys if i had kids

    magnusaasrud says:

Fun way to educate and power your kids creativity! I love apps like these, but in-app purchases should be considered, as children are playing this.

Great and well designed app, the graphics are very appealing

Cute! Toca kitchen runs fast and fluid on my phone.

    sachamo says:

These look like amazing apps for kids especially since it will show and allow for constructive imagination and blosom some amazing creativity. It will lead to so many hours of fun and imagination. I love the content it is very child friendly.

    KelTexas says:

I hadn't seen Toca Boca in the Windows Store yet. Thank you! We love Toca Boca in our house. I like the nice graphics and simple games that make kids use their imaginations and creativity. I hope they bring more Toca apps (and other kids apps) to Windows so I can ditch the iPad mini!

Good to see some more quality apps for kids, although I'm not inertly convinced that this kind of games should replace kids’ time with dolls (haircuts) and kitchen toys (cook). I think the windows version is the best just because it will be used on bigger screens than the windows phone version. Small screens (even big smartphones) will make objects pretty small and that could be a problem for a kid young enough to be interested in those kind of games.

I saw a kid playing the haircut game on an ipad when I was at Best Buy agonizing over whether I was going to pay 1200.00 for an SP3. He was having so much fun, that I had to go over and try it.

So I had to pay for it on my new tablet. Just because.

Just wanted to add that there is very little kids-games and apps that are localized. Most games needs to be in the language of the kid, as adult its fine with english apps, but kids age up to 7 needs translated apps.

Don't have kids and I don't plan to, so i'm not interested. But I have to say that has nice drawings :D

Both of these apps are free at iOS.. Why are WP users being asked to pay $3 for each?

Always good with apps for kids, as long as they're any good; I'll give these a go one of these days...

The games look pretty nice for children, easy and simple. Some suggestions would be to make the cow a bit more realistic as you dont want children to learn that cows are blue and maybe the reactions off the people could be more clear when they get food. Another cool feature might be to transport the people between the to apps so that you can let the guy with the crazy haircut you just gave him eat some of the food youl cook, i think kids would raelly like that.

I like the idea of these apps but not having a trial option in Windows phone to test how these work is a bit of a step backward for me.

The “Toca Kitchen” game for Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8/RT (Review done on Windows RT) is a great game for kids to pass the time. It’s fun, interactive and helps kids learn basic necessities of cookery; such as using a microwave or pan to cook something. The game works well however sometimes it doesn’t always ‘chop’ food when I try to, not sure if that’s supposed to be the case if I’m doing something wrong or if it’s a bug. Secondly it took me a while to figure out how to feed the person (you do this by holding the food to their mouth). These kind of things I would like made a bit clearer, a tutorial would be a nice addition for the game. Also the ability to get a trial on the Windows Phone 8 version would be nice to get a feel for the game on the phone before buying it again. All in all, I’ve found this a pretty fun game and one the kids would enjoy. My rating is a 7/10.

The “Toca Hair Salon 2” game for Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8/RT (Again review done on Windows RT) really does give the feel of working at your own Hair Salon. When you choose a person there’s great customization options for their hair like color, style, length, beards and so on. There’s also hair straighteners, curlers, razors, scissors and more to take advantage of. I’ve found this a fun game to mess around with and I feel Toca Boca did a great job with it. My only bit of criticism is again a trial on the Windows Phone 8 version to get a feel for the game on the phone and a tutorial to help get you started as it took me a while to figure out there’s was different sections of the Hair Salon. This is definitely one for the kids and it runs great on the Surface! My rating is a 9/10.

You took the words right out of my mouth. *I* won't use these, but they'll be right at home on my phone's Kid's Corner.

All 3 of my kids like both Toca Kitchen and Hair Salon.  I downloaded the trial for each and ended up purchasing both.  The play it on my Surface and my desktop and it will keep them busy for quite a while.  They love showing each other what hair styles they came up with in Hair Salon and seeing who will eat what in Kitchen.  To be honest, I was not sure how much they would like it when I first downloaded the trial, but was pleasently surprised how much they liked.  Would recommend to anyone with younger kids.  Thanks

Wow, this a great app for kid.

How come we cannot find these amazing apps in Windows Store?
Keep the Hidden Gems coming, it really brings great app in to spotlight.

The kids will love this two Apps, they enjoy mimics the adults and with this Apps they can do that in a fun way. They will have hours of entertaining and with the help of the parents they can learn also.

The user interface is clean and simple so that the kids don't get frustrated with lots of things to do before star playing.

Games look good. I don't have any kids the age where these would be appropriate, but i like the ideas behind them. Would allow kids the ability to experiment without hurting themselves or others.

Even though I won't download, the concept could be extended to other games for older children and/or adults to try something new.

I absolutely love the hair salon game. I let my hair stylist fiancee put it on my ipad once after she saw it on an ipad/iphone commercial and she wouldn't give it back. Then I wanted to see what all the fuss was about and tried it out. It's actually really fun. I don't have kids yet but I still want to try the kitchen one also.
