Touch Pro 2 for AT&T passes FCC

We've seen renders of the HTC Touch Pro 2 (aka Rhodium aka Fortress) destined for AT&T, and now comes word that it's passed FCC testing.

It's got all the goodies we've come to know of the Touch pro 2, including the 3.6-inch touchscreen at 480x800, Windows Mobile 6.1, aGPS, WiFi b/g, a 3.2MP camera, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR. The standard AT&T 3G bands (850MHz and 1900MHz) are, of course, present.

Now all we need are some leaked shots, release date and pricing. A slew of FCC information won't be unsealed until the end of September, so we might not see the Touch Pro 2 on AT&T until October at the earliest. But that's rampant speculation on our part, and stranger things have happened.

It is because AT&T sucks like hell ...

Umm. how come t-mobile, verizon, and sprint are all slated to get the Touch Pro 2 in the July time frame while AT&T would be stuck with an October release date?

says:

Hopefully this means an unlocked 850/1900 will be released much sooner :-) I want one!

But will it get Windows Mobile 7? :-/

Interesting, from FCC images it seems this US version has MSM7201A, but the ones sold in the EU right now have MSM7200A.

It is my destiny to have this phone. My upgrade availability date for AT&T? October 3.

In my opinion there is no way that Sprint or Verizon will get the Touch Pro2 this summer. Their FCC docs show confidentiality until Halloween, and typically there is a reason for that (Touch Pro didn't release on Sprint until the day confidentiality expired).

Also, don't forget, the first leaked image of the Verizon XV6800 came on 2/9/07, and the device wasn't released until the end of November 2007. The time between Sprint Mogul photo leak and release was about the same.

I can wait for this phone. My fuze kicks the cr@p out of everything out there but when the TP2 is released i will be in geek Nirvana! Thanks a ton for the heads up.
