TVShow goes to v2.0, gets major overhaul [Video]

We first looked at TVShow 1.0 back in March. The app was coded in 30 hours by Rudy Huyn and we walked away impressed.

Now that he's had more than 30 hours to work on the app, he's released 2.0 and wow, is it impressive. The UI has been modified, many more options added (including a customizable live tile), social networking, YouTube and even the ability to choose those awesome backgrounds from your favorite show:

  • Get a quick overview of the all the upcoming episodes for all of your favorite shows
  • Get synopsis, screen captures, rates, news, subtitles, youtube videos and recaps for each episodes
  • Mark seen and unseen episodes
  • be notified right before a new episode of your favorite TV Shows aired even if the app is not launched.
  • Share comments with friends on facebook/twitter and with other users
  • offline mode with cache feature for pictures
  • rate episodes
  • Use your phone as a remote screen for subtitles
  • translation feature for recaps and summaries
  • for U.S. residents only: adjust air date/times of U.S. tv shows to your local time zone

Check out the video above as we give a tour of the features. We're throwing this up there with '4th & Mayor', 'Rowi', 'Amazon.com' as must-have apps for your phone. Truly some exceptional development by Huyn. The app fetches for $0.99 in the Marketplace here that has a fully-functional trial e.g. it's like the old 'lite' version.

Take a look at Prime TV as well, has some of the same features and just as good looking. Maybe a comparison video, I have both and both equally showcase WP7 very well.

OGCF says:

Yeah this updates looks VERY similar to Prime TV which had a lot of these features first. Plus the developer has already said he's including toast notifications, twitter support, Trak.tv support, Backup support with DropBox, and more. I'll admit though, this UI does looks a little more slick. Here's a review of Prime TV I wrote for our blog:http://windowsphonedaily.blogspot.com/2011/05/app-review-prime-tv.html

No update the the free version with the new UI and performance updates? It seems that TV Show Lite (the free version) is still at v1.2.This is really one of those time I wish I could actually buy apps, come on Mango and marketplace expansion!

rudyhuyn says:

Hello guys !Thanks for your comments@theefman : prime tv has not a real live tile (updated each night), toast, facebook, twitter, messenger, etc... ;)@GP07 : TVShow has been updated, but there was a problem during the validation (I used the windows logo for a button and it was refused), so I have resubmitted it (available in 2 days) but for information :TVShow trial == TVShow lite, so download the trial (there is no limit of time or of number of shows)

Nice, thanks for the info, great app.

Thanks for the info Rudy.Yeah, I just briefly compared PrimeTV to yours. While Prime is nicely laid out and no major complaints about it, TVShow certainly has more features packed into it. Keep up the great work!

Anybody else think that the guy in the video's voice sounds alot like cousin Gerard from Everybody Loves Raymond?

Yo, severe tree pollen up here in New York. We're all a bit stuffy.

please don't bring up allergies...

Nice app! Great job on the update...loving it so far.One thing I noticed is that the email backup and restore does not work for which episodes you have already watched...only seems to backup the shows list. Better than nothing but it would be nice to also get a backup of the episodes you have already seen.
