Verizon FiOS app now available on the Xbox One

Verizon FiOS Xbox One App

Enjoying your Xbox One? Have Verizon FiOS? If so, you’ll be enjoying your Xbox One quite a bit more with the new Verizon FiOS TV app. The Xbox 360 had the same app, but now Xbox One owners can join in on the fun.

Of course you can always take advantage of the TV functionality in Xbox One to just browse the content from your cable box, but a dedicated app for Verizon FiOS TV has a few advantages over the HDMI-in solution. You’ll need to be an Xbox Live subscriber and subscribe to both FiOS TV and internet service. If you fit the bill you’ll get 74 live channels through the app. You also don’t need additional hardware, which means you don’t need to be hooked up to the cable box to get the channels.

Now we can go back to waiting for HBOGO to come to the Xbox One.

xirsteon says:

i wonder if you can authenticate into the fios app from another location using a subscriber account ofcourse. this will make me buy an xb1 instantly.

revamp says:

No you cant it does auto authentication based on the network not on a user account or at least I would assume this is how the x1 does it since thats what the x360 did

Good question. On my 360 I get HBOGO and Foxnow from a dish account but my cable is from Comcast. It works great on the 360.

xirsteon says:

but hbogo and foxnow are services that pple pay for ..at least hbogo. I'm quite curious about this piece..cuz i have TW but i have my siblings Fios acct info that i use to watch EPL and Spanish liga onl.

My friend has HBO on her dish account.

enthuz says:

So does it do the same commands and features showed when connected to a cable box, just now with the app?

hysonmb says:

no, the app displays channels as tiles that you can scroll through. It's not a full replacement for the cbale box yet. For example, I'm watching a hockey game right now using the HDMI passthrough but the channel it's on is not avaiable in the app.

Waiting for HBO Go to come to WP8 and Win 8/RT.

tbonenga says:

HBOGO / Xfinity needed ASAP

hysonmb says:

This version is WAY faster than it was on the 360 unless that one has been updated in the past 2 weeks or so.
