Consultant firm Wapple spots substantial Windows growth, ramps up developer resources

Wapple

Wapple (www.wapple.net) is a mobile and cross-screen marketing company providing design, device delivery technology and consultation to worldwide clients. The company is looking to address the "rapidly expanding Windows Phone and tablet consumer base" by ramping up resources to increase support for businesses, delivering apps to both Windows Phones and tablets.

Announced in a press release, Wapple quotes a recent report from Kantar Worldpanel, which showed Windows Phone experiencing substantial growth to hit just shy of 10 percent in Europe. Windows 8 is also on the rise in the tablet and PC market, grabbing almost 8 percent according to StatCounter. This data is firing up the furnaces for more content to be created.

Here's what Anne Thomas, CEO of Wapple, had to comment on the announcement:

"These are incredible gains for Microsoft who have previously been criticised for making a late play in the tablet and smartphone game. They show no signs of slowing down and could even snowball.  Brands are going to have to establish apps for these platforms to ensure a successful cross-screen marketing strategy and marketers should act fast because there is a fantastic opportunity right now for businesses to capitalise on this growth whilst the Stores remain relatively free of competing apps."

There's also the whole Nokia Microsoft deal going down, which would provide Redmond the means to further develop its mobile platform in-house, taking full advantage of what Nokia's hardware division has to offer. Wapple will be looking to work with brands who wish to build content for consumers on Windows and Windows Phone - great news for those who seek more official apps.

Didlr Windows 8

We've already seen more official apps make their way to the platform, not to mention Instagram well on the way. With support like this becoming less of a rare sighting, you can expect to see many more brands following suit. Wapple has already worked with the likes of Didlr, a popular cross-platform doodling social network, with apps available on both Windows 8 and Windows Phone.

Please, get outside more. Either that or publish a comment that's actually worth my time.

I was outside when I wrote it

Its just not funny. Its juvenile, and its tiresome.

It amused me, for what it's worth

It's good to see things like this, especially when the WP's detractors continue to try to insist there is zero growth, interest, or traction for WP in the market.

Guys, do you know what I have been doing to increase awareness at the very least??? And I urge more of you guys to the same, I wne to the website for all of these sites that I would like to see and app for; Allstate Car Insurance, UPS, Barclays Credit Card Service, NEST, WebMD, Time Warner Cable, Kiloo Games (Makers of subway surfers), Sharebuilder and if anyone knows about this Vmware Vsphere management app that is available for IOS, I went to OPS1. On all of these sites they have a link to like them on Facebook and twitter, I followed those Facebook links and commented on their page simply when is a mobile app for windows phone 8 and\or windows 8 coming out, I told them their customer want this and need this. And guess what all of them except Kiloo games and Ops1 replied to me telling me either it’s in the works or they will pass the suggestion along to the mobile development teams. Now…These may be BS replies I get back from them but I think if we all did this on these sites and more, whatever you guys  like to see on WP8 and win8, I think they may just end up listening.

Good idea,

Now do this for Bitstrips!

+1

I do the same for a couple of apps I want...like Glympse and another one for invoicing.  It doesn't hurt to ask.

gautam26 says:

I did the same for a mobile payment app called "NGPAY" and received a similar reply..

Yugiro says:

The people who actually whine on lack of apps, do not actually need apps themselves. They just whine on this because, this is the only thing they can criticise on Windows Phone.

But for app developers of course, if you want to expand your business and get more money, build your apps on all platforms, most especially Windows Phone.

This logo looks like Skype's, in it?

LuckyBasterd says:

I pester app developers too. I am desperate for Sonos, Kijiji, and Scotiabank in particular. Perhaps one should start a forum group where we could share contact links to these targets? Good idea?

Marco Gomes1 says:

So...they found out what we already know for the last 6 months. Better late than never, i guess.

I guess they've known it for even longer than that. Wapple have spoken at some pretty big gigs in the UK and have been bigging up Microsoft's platform for a very long time. But timing is everything. There's little point putting out a press release when its going to fall of deaf ears.

Winnabe says:

Is it like a portmanteau of Windows and Apple? Just wondering.

Wapple have been around for a very long time. Well before Apple were in the mobile space.
