Weather26 update adds Live Tiles and GPS

Weather26 gets updated

The Windows Phone weather app Weather26 (here's our review) was updated today to version 1.6 which now adds Live Tile service. The previous update, version 1.5, added location/GPS services to your location search page.

The Live Tile will place the current conditions for your default location on your Windows Phone Start Screen. The reverse side of the tile will show when the conditions were last updated.

WP Central

The other big addition that hit with the v1.5 update is the use of location services to set a forecast location. When you go to add a forecast city, just tap the satellite button at the bottom of the screen. From there you can customize the location and add it to your list.

The Weather26 updates brings two nice features to a nice weather app for your Windows Phone. I would have liked the next days forecast appear on the reverse side of the tile but knowing when the tile was last updated has its uses.

Weather26 is a free, ad supported app for your Windows Phone that you can grab here at the Windows Phone Marketplace.

This must be the ugliest weather app.
What's with all the text all over the place? Different fonts, diferent colors, different sizes. Just... ugly.
Sorry.

MannLou says:

I usually don't slam app but this one is indeed ugly. I'd love to see a native Windows 8 looking one. Simple, clean and metro with great photo backgrounds.

dannejanne says:

Try Weather View. Hands down best looking weather app on WP. It's very smooth too.

drannel says:

You should give Weather View a try then. It has a gorgeous metro interface and also live tiles.

agreed! best looking app around, great live tile, free/ad-free...

thaman04 says:

I wish Bing made a weather app similar to the beautiful app they made for Windows 8. :(

MannLou says:

I couldn't agree more. The only other weather app that looks great from a tile and app perspective is Accuweather and at times it's slow to load but information is vast and easy to navigate.
Even the HTC Hub weather is better than this app. IMO

dannejanne says:

Very ugly weather app. Not designed very well regarding colors/layout etc.
Weather View is by far the best looking weather app on WP. Runs sooo smooth too.

Smoothbond says:

Windows Phone must have more weather apps than IOS and Android combined. Really what is it about weather Apps, is it the Live tile that attracts them to the platform? its the frigging weather, and all you need to know is if you need to take an umbrella or not.  This is the way  fart apps used to be on IOS when the app store just launched. Stop with your weather Apps, we have enough holes in the App store, fill those up before you create another app that flips a tile with the picture of the sun, I dont live underground I can look out the Window.

I think it's because it's the easiest to tap into from a data perspective. type in a zip or weather code and you have data feeds from a user entry. It's also a core piece of desired data from users.

Weather Master is the best...

I use Weather Master, it's not cheap, but performance-wise is unbeatable.
