Windows Phone "Droidrage" winners announced

Droidrage Cure

The other day @BenThePCGuy (a.k.a. Ben Rudolph) sought out to ease the pain smartphone users suffering from "DroidRage" after what appeared to be a massive adware outbreak on the Android Marketplace. He asked those afflicted to share their stories via Twitter. Ben would then pick the best (or worst) stories to receive a free Windows Phone.

The contest netted nearly a thousand responses. The lucky twenty will soon be receiving a free Windows Phone to help ease their frustrations. Here is a sampling of the winning submissions.

  • "I REALLY wish my Galaxy Nexus would stop rebooting while I'm on the phone."
  • "Android crashes even when i (try) unlock the screen..i bought it only because other phones was too expensive for me!"
  • "Battery issues, freezing, worried about malware, viruses... my DroidX gives me more trouble than my 2 teenage kids!"
  • "4 phones in 3 months. 3 hard resets in 6 months. I am dying alive from DROIDRAGE & cannot wait for my new windowsphone!"

You can see all the twenty winners of new Windows Phones by hitting the source link below.  This is the second of such promotions (Ben did the same thing back in December) and there's not telling when the third such promotion will take place.

I love that this helps push the good name of WP but I'm also worried this is just a case of "common sense vs. A typical OS" Everyone is quick to blame the OS when it could be very well be someone downloading everything under the sun without hesitation and without thinking.

Yeah pretty much, ive got friends that have androids and I love them but they are soooo! Dumb they will click on and download stuff that is so obviously a phishing scam and so much more ive even helped a few WP users out by simply rebooting the device its an odd thing but most people don't know how to troubleshoot anything!

This is one of the large falacies of the PC vs Mac argument. Windows PC's are widely known for constantly failing, crashing, getting viruses, being slow, etc.

Strangely enough, I virtually never have such problems. The PC problem really stms from people who don't know what they're doing when using a computer, hence they download lots of extra bloatware, viruses, and other crap that bogs them down.

Plus they are quite oblivious to standard programs and other things that can help them out like defrag, alot of people I no don't even have virus protection no avg no Norton nothing! Then they complain about the lamest things and blame it on Microsoft or dell some times even the store the bought it from! Its pretty crazy how little the average person knows about technology, in definitely no expert but I no atleast the basics of troubleshooting its really not hard haha

Not to forget they don't install antiviruses, because they think they're useless and never update because they don't trust updates (yes, I have some friends who have told me that) or just can't be bothered to wait 15 seconds for the computer to update. I'm glad Windows 8 has MSE built in and a much better update system, hopefully it'll get people to stop complaining.
I don't think Android is inherently secure, far from it, but I still think people could have way less problems if they just knew what they were doing, although, admittedly, I'd say that's the strength of Windows Phone, you don't really have to know what you're doing for it to work well.

I do love the kind of comments this warrants from the Android users on the other tech forum websites.

It's delicious.

Ok and what does ALL of that have to do with droidrage winners? Get lost butthurt fandroid losers!

My hubbys so upset he wasn't chosen lol

I guess the good news is he can still get a free Lumia 710 at the Microsoft Store.

Definitely user error is probably the root of most issues. But android is pretty crappy, slow, memory hog, etc...

I thought android was good since it is a major phone os. So I decided to get a transformer prime...even on the fastest slate ICS lags...cant wait for Win8 transformer prime

My roomate lost all her photos and videos on her tmobile 4g galaxy s.. I got my self the lumia, she saw it.. And took it..I can't go back to my hd7 after using the Nokia...

Why not? It has a larger screen and a bit more space

The newer phones are smoother than the ist Gen phones, even the Nokia 710 was smaller there was something about the 2nd Gen that u just want to stay on it.. Did I mentioned the screen??? Very nice...

wait... took, it, ?? man, you must be a very nice guy, id smack them on the head and tell them to get their own (or call nokia and tell them u've been a good sales and brought them one extra customer and hopefully get a discount on the next one lol)

i had a nexus one a while back waiting for gingerbread to hit since the nexi (nexus') are supposed to get updated first i waited a good while lol when i sold it the next day it got updated i was so mad my next phone was the mytouch 4g which sucked after the mytouch i got the hd7 my first windows phone and loved it it just worked and guess what when mango came out i got it! like i shoulda got the updates on my androids nvr again really i got nothing against the os just the way they run it...
