Windows Phone Game Review: Free Renegade
Free Renegade is an interesting game for your Windows Phone. It is a reverse shooter game with over fifty levels of action and eleven enemies to face down.
Being a reverse shooter, you aren't relying on your weapons to take out the enemies but rather tier weapons. The enemy ships will shoot homing missiles at your ship. You then use your flying skills to evade the missiles and steer them back into the enemy ships. You do have the option of taking out the enemy ships out by ramming them but you'll take on a good bit of damage yourself.
Free Renegade's gaming screen has your health stats in the upper left corner, gears collected and your shield strength. You control your ship with your Windows Phone tilt sensors and the game. In doing so, you have to play the game from overhead, holding your Windows Phone flat. The game orientation takes a little getting used to but once you get the hang of it, Free Renegade is a fun game.
As you clear each level, you can spend the gears you collect to repair or upgrade your health and/or shields. As you progress through the levels, you'll face new enemies and a faster game pace.
All in all, Free Renegade is a fun game for your Windows Phone. There's an odd pleasure in seeing your enemies being taken out with their own weapons. Games can be paused and resumed at a later time so Free Renegade can keep you entertained for short periods or longer spans.
There is a free trial version available for Free Renegade and the full version will run you $.99. You can find Free Renegade here at the Windows Phone Marketplace.
