Windows Phone Game Review: Kill Zombies for Money

Kill Zombies for Money

Zombies continue to invade the Windows Phone Marketplace. Kill Zombies for Money is one of the latest installments and is a multi-level, multi-game mode, fast action title where...wait for have to obliterate zombie hordes.

You play the role of the mercenary searching various areas of the game, tackling missions, earning gold, and making sure the zombies don't make it out alive. Kill Zombies for Money is a decent game for your Windows Phone that is challenging enough to keep you interested for short bits of time.

The main menu for Kill Zombies for Money has options to start a new game, purchase improvements for your mercenary, view the online leaderboard, and access the game's options. Kill Zombies for Money options cover sound and vibration on/off as well as customizing your mercenary name for the leaderboard.

Kill Zombies for Money Menus

There isn't a help section with Kill Zombies for Money and it would have been a welcomed feature. There are a handful of bonuses that drop when you take out a zombie and knowing what's what might come in handy.

Kill Zombies has two game modes; missions and survival. The Survival Modes is rather self-explanatory. You survive the zombie assaults for as long as you can. The Missions Mode has seven maps that contain a handful of missions (collect x amount of gold, take out x number of zombies, etc.). As you complete missions you earn money to use to buy improvements. As you wipe out the zombies, you can earn gold coins and other bonus items that will help you survive.

Game play with Kill Zombies for Money is fairly simple. You have two virtual joysticks. One to control movement and one to control your weapon. Keep in mind that your weapon can overheat (joystick knob turns red) and when it does, you'll have to run around avoiding zombies until things cool off.

Kill Zombies for Money gaming screens

As you work your way through each mission, zombies attack in hordes. Each horde gets a little more challenging and to help you see them coming, little green arrows will pop up on the edge of the screen indicating which direction they are coming from.

Graphics are decent and reminds me of the late 80's early 90's attempts at 3D that gives the game a little retro look to it. Controls are responsive but I found my touch slipping off the control all too often. It makes me wonder if using the accelerometer would be better for movement.

While game play was challenging, controls and graphics nice, the biggest drawback to Kill Zombies for Money is the ad banners. The banner sits in the upper right corner of the game screen and blocks your view way too much. I would have preferred the banners be limited to the non-gaming screens or the option to pay $.99 for an ad-free version.

Where the rotting flesh falls off the bone, Kill Zombies for Money isn't a bad time waster. It lacks the addictive quality we saw with ByeBye Brain but for short stints, it's not a bad choice.

Kill Zombies for Money is an ad supported, free game that you can find here at the Windows Phone Marketplace.

Very good point... I lost Twin Blades also and have played many a game on here, that while I still don't think was very violent, was 10x more violent than Twin Blades.
