Windows Phone Game Review: MotoX Mayhem

MotoX Mayhem for Windows Phone

MotoX Mayhem is a challenging motocross game for your Windows Phone. MotoX Mayhem challenge rests with keeping your motorcycle balanced as you navigate across a series of motocross tracks.  Five tracks to be exact.  Each with differing difficulty levels ranging from easy to hard.  MotoX Mayhem is a fun game and a nice time waster but some may find the controls a little on the sensitive side.  This gives the game a slight learning curve that could be a little on the frustrating side.

It would have been nice to have seen a trial version for MotoX Mayhem to let everyone try before you but overall, it's a decent game for your Windows Phone.

MotoX Mayhem's main menu has options to play the game, enter a mode, access the How to Play screens, check the online leaderboard and access the game's options.

MotoX Mayhem

Options cover sound/music levels, accelerometer sensitivity and custom control choices. Control choices are the use of the accelerometer or on-screen controls for the accelerator and to lean your bike forwards or backwards.

The game itself has five tracks ranging in difficulty from easy to hard. You're racing against the clock and every crash you have adds a second to your overall time. While you do have choice of controls, the accelerometer to control the bike and digital (tap the screen) choice for the accelerator seem to work the best. You simply tap the right side of the screen to get your bike going and tilt the Windows Phone left/right to lean the bike backwards/forwards.

MotoX Mayhem

The bike rider does have a little rag-doll style as you maneuver up, down and over obstacle and when you crash. Keeping your balance is challenging and don't be surprised if you find the need to dial back the sensitivity of the Windows Phone accelerometer. The slightest of tilt can send your biking crashing to the ground.

You can attempt stunts with your bike as you jump the burns and hills of the various tracks. You won't earn any extra points for stunts but it is fun to see your bike do a somersault. Just be careful not to land on your head.

All in all, I found MotoX Mayhem an entertaining game with nice graphics. It is a challenging game and don't be surprised if it takes a little while to get the hang of things.  My crash totals are still adding minutes to my overall time. You really have to work at maintaining your balance when running these courses.

There isn't a trial version available for MotoX Mayhem and the full version is running $.99. You can find MotoX Mayhem here at the Windows Phone Marketplace.

No trial? That is exactly what a developer should do if they don't want anyone to buy the game.

Very enjoyable to play. So relaxing Windows Phone game that has enough challenge to keep it from getting boring. -
