Back a few weeks ago, Microsoft opened the Marketplace to developers for a pre-approval process. They intended to accept "a few thousand" participating early certification developers during this period in order to launch the store in an orderly pace as well as to guarantee some the big developers get featured.
Now, the Marketplace has flung open its doors to the masses, enabling the self-serving submission process which should mean a flood of more apps and games over the next couple of weeks. It will be interesting to see how much of an increase we see.
