WPCentral 142 - Samsung gets a sequel & Nokia gets more apps

If you're a WP7 lover why should you care about Samsung and HTC? They would drop WP7 in a heart beat.  I say bring Nokia to all US carriers and F the rest.  I rather have one that believes than 10 that half a** it.

samsung, i'd drop in a heartbeat, even though i still use a samsung focus, but HTC is doing pretty good. they're giving windows phone better looking and original devices than samsung, imo, (Titan, Titan II and Radar are pretty unique).

i think if i were to choose two OEMs to be the only windows phone manufacturers, it would be HTC and Nokia

I kinda liked the whole argument about Nokia not trying to fragment WP. point well made. You do your best when your rear is on the line/ you need to survive. Nokia is doing exactly what it needs to do for the growth of the company, growth/increase in share of WP market share. Healthy competition is always good. :)

I'm not a fan of Rafael on this podcast.
Here why:
1) He doesn't seem as ready to talk about issues that are brought up.  He says I don't know alot.
2) He's opinionated about things that don't matter.  He was dissing SMS apps?  Really?  Lots of people use those types of apps continually.
3) He talks about decompiling XAP's.  I am a Windows Phone developer and don't like the fact that people are taking XAP's and decompiling them.  MS needs to step up here and encrypt are XAP's to keep prying eyes out.
I just don't think he adds to the show.

I am new to this, and considering switching from Verizon to AT&T (cue the Imperial March music..which is odd since the Lumias come in Stormtrooper white..) just to get a Lumia.  Nokia has always built nice phones, and the 900, being the only WP7 phone Ive played with, is no exception.  If it will be upgradeable to Apollo, then I will definitely break my VZ contract (slow 3G, every phone in their stores is android or disposable).  I am enjoying the podcasts..
