Xbox 360 LIVE Beta enrollment now open for 2012 Fall update

WP Central

Microsoft has announced open enrollment for their 2012 (fall) Xbox LIVE update for the Xbox 360 console.

The new features for this update we revealed at E3 back in June are the ones coming for this update so getting a sneak peek is always a blast. Some of those new features for this preview include:

  • Internet Explorer for Xbox
  • Personalized dashboard recommendations
  • Enhanced category search and discovery features

Internet Explorer should be a welcome, if not odd, addition to your TV—but since Google TV has it, Microsoft needs to add it too. The “Enhanced category search” feature is an extension of the VideoSurf purchase by Microsoft in late 2011. We detailed that acquisition and what it means for Xbox 360 and Windows Phone 8 and is worth a read.

Enrollment is limited meaning first come, first serve... so head over and fill out the form. Of course this is a beta, so know the risks ahead.

Update: Enrollment is now closed.

Done and done. Glad to see pinning being added. Would be nice to have the home tab on the console be customizable.

I was a part of that too, but that was because we were testing larger storage discs, so we had to get a game for free.

Hopefully they can be nice and give us some MS points :)

I truly love the Xbox team doing this!  Totally wish the Windows Phone team followed in the same footsteps.  Yeah, I know.  There will be with Windows Phone 8.  But why they waited for WP8 to enact community involvement with Betas was a shame.

One thing you didn't mention Daniel is that its going to have pinnable tiles that way you can customize the home section of the dashboard

Since were beta users are not allowed to mention contents of the beta update I'll keep my mouth shut so everyone else can suffer knowing that I know the features that there gonna find out in a far future

Like apple did with the iPhone and its early app build up we have the Xbox with early app build up lol got ya apple don't even think about making a gaming console Microsoft has it on lock BIOTCH LOL!!!

I'm hoping for the smart glass app around about the same time, I remember the WP7 companion app came out not long after the tester got the beta dashboard last year.

I really enjoyed last years testing and am equally looking forward to this years, especially with the smart glass and IE10.

Same here, all betas since original live beta on original console. I see this and it is already closed. They used to leave it open for a day or two. Must be a smaller beta group this time around.
